EMS here. The algorithm brought me here and I'm not disappointed. We actually use "all bleeding stops eventually" in our trauma training and "the solution to pollution is dilution". Good stuff, Doc!
Glad you like mini-med school. These are actual lectures I have given to first year medical students so you are getting the real deal. I have some more just waiting to get posted.
You forgot more great sayings! Charcoal don’t bleed. The enemy of good is better. Nobody is useless, they can always be used as a bad example later. So many great OR sayings.
Appreciate your video as it was interesting. Also, this is not as deep as the expressions you mentioned but I recently had an ortho dr tell me one of the goals is to make sure the patient doesn't run out of "red wet" when in surgery. Took me a sec to realize he meant blood...
What do you do during long surgeries for food/bathroom breaks? Also are there any stretches surgeons do to deal with the physical effects of surgery (being hunched over, etc)
For a 14 hour surgery. Lets say that is the case. There is definitely opportunities to take bathroom breaks. Surgery is a team sport. You can pass the football to someone else then scrub back in.
