Zoro’s using the exact same reasoning Luffy used for Ace, as to why they shouldn’t worry about Vivi, but he seems to forget that Luffy was wrong to say that, considering Ace was locked up and awaiting execution. Naturally, Luffy’s going to dunk on Zoro for saying that, because for all he knows, Vivi’s about to meet the same fate, or could be stuck somewhere much worse.

​@@Kaisona2017Somewhat fair, but idk that I agree Luffy was wrong for not going at first. There are too many unknown factors which is sort of Zoro's point, he's just keeping the focus on Luffy's own mentality. The biggest imo being that Luffy only made it to ID as fast as he did and as successfully, thanks to Boa and the marine ship. In hindsight it looks like the bad choice because we equate having more time to better results but it's not necessarily the case and there's a good chance it would lead to worse results. The key thing here is that Luffy had no context at TB and then got context of the situation on AL. Similarly, they currently lack context on the situation with Vivi.

Ok but ppl say that because he literally isn't. I get why ppl want him to have that title, but it's not one that has actually been given to him. He is the first mate. He is the swordsman. He is the fighter. But at no point has anyone in the crew, nor Oda himself, ACTUALLY called Zoro the vice captain. Why is this brought up so much?

That was the only bad argument of zoro, in my opinion Ace needed help and when luffy finally tried to save him, it was too late

@@lucky_lulu317 That's exactly the point. Luffy was still right in trusting Ace to handle his own problems, but in the end Ace was the one who got himself into such a hopeless situation. Luffy did everything he could when Ace actually needed help, and almost managed to do so. But Ace's decisions were what led to him being killed. It would be no different for Vivi in this case. When she actually needs them, they'll be there. Going in without a plan would only make things worse.

@@Bry1412 yeah it was Ace’s choice in the end. Also I think it was Jimbei who told Luffy that Ace made his choice so that Luffy wouldn’t blame himself. To me it’s something that I think about when thinking about Ace, that he was literally close to escaping with Luffy. 😔

I think Luffy basically admitting Zoro was right and not looking offended was meant to signal that even though that happened, Luffy doesn’t regret his decision to continue on his own journey as compared to the option of making a beeline right to Ace

But ultimately Zoro added "until it was time to really rescue him," as a caveat. Because Luffy knew when to let Ace on his adventure and when to go help him. Just like this time where he's up to save Vivi... but only if it becomes clear that she needs saving.

To be fair, Sanji wipes Jinbe post germa enhancements. It's not even a fair fight. Still, doubtful he could beat Zoro, but they've always been mostly equals, with a moderate advantage on Zoro's end.

Had they gone after him, they would have all died. When Luffy said that, Ace was already in Impel Down, they could have never got inside it, let alone face Magellan that would have killed them all in a second.

But had they gone to Impel Down no way could the get past all 4 stages without some problems: the blue gorillas Lv1, all the wild beast of Hell Lv2, the starvation he'll (Chopper with wool on) Lv3, Burning heat Hell and Magellan Lv4. And if they escapes into teams; Nami, Usopp, Chopper with Bon Clay, Franky, Robin with Buggy and Mr. 3 and the monster trio into lvl 5 and 5.5, there be no way of knowing how much battle damage they can do or even take from fighting all the way down and back up to get a ship and head to Marine ford to watch ace died
