I do really appreciate the fact that Gunnar called Tammi coming home and taking down all the poorly made drawings and refilling the cabinet with both trophies and photos, but mostly photos. My guess is the trophies up there are the ones the kids asked to put up because THEY were proud of it, and thats just such a huge difference. Subtle, but huge.

25:24, He is a good father and husband. This is such a rare thing to see from a dad who is so traditional. So many times, the father will expect the mother to do the cooking and be served. This man doesn't want to see the woman being the only one doing work while his family sits and plays games and he does nothing. I really admire that attitude. My fiance is like that too. He doesn't just expect me to wait hand and foot for him. I get why the dad was upset.

One thing Lyn really stated ( 17:55 ) that makes massive sense, to paraphrase: you are teaching your kids to be pushovers because all you do is push them. They are pushovers because they do not have a voice. It was laid out clear when the daughter spoke to Lyn about not having "me time." If they had a voice, at all, I feel there'd be less ""everything"" in their lives. You are leaving their individuality to be yours and not theirs. At some point, you're living multiple lives and you are abusing your privilege as a parent to have structure when it costs these kids' social, mental, and physical well-being. And sports is physical hell. I was in sports a lot as a kid. I'd have days when my arms were really sore and I couldn't write during class to take notes except for maybe 20-30% of the time. I am lucky that it wasn't anyone else's fault but my own to a degree. I pushed myself. I had individuality to want these things for myself. I am lucky I wasn't living someone else's life that they either didn't have at my age then, or wasn't good enough and so they had to somehow get the awards through me.
@bek7562
@bek7562 9 месяцев назад
This is so true. My friends would often tell me that they would ask to do things they liked and are interested in but it would be thrown aside because it wasn't what their mom wanted or she didn't have "time" since the things she wanted took up all their time. The daughter had to move away just to escape it and the son just felt like the less wanted child because they prioritized his sister. Where as I was left to my own devices for the most part, but provided with literally anything I was interested in. Homeschooled on a computer with minimal interference from my parents. Played video games 4-5 hours a day but still excelled at piano, loved reading, learned to sew, got into knitting, decided to learn Japanese and even moved there for awhile just because I wanted to be around the people and language. I attribute this to why I am a self starter and innovator at work places unlike my coworkers who will just wait for someone to tell them what to do or follow orders exactly instead of finding more efficient options (because they never learned to decide for themselves). Of course some kids probably do thrive in this environment, but you have to communicate with your children in order to find that out. Which NEITHER family is doing. I think that is the overall failing for the parents in this episode (besides the video gamer dad who is just a man child) It's funny because my husband and I are both video gamers but we take turns serving the other "gamer gremlin" 🤣

The man recording the whole thing was HIS BROTHER and in the footage you can see how he rushes to help him and starts to break down once he realizes his brother was gone. she fucked up big time Cody is a responsible kid who doesnt want to let his team down it was supposed to be fun for them so he should play at least 2 hours a week, cuz he likes it and that's all that matters maybe he shouldn't clean so much in the house cuz hes only 12 that'd be more like a good idea than disallowing him to play

It's refreshing to see a young man who doesn't dry reach and cringe at an older couple being lovey-dovey :) Only just recently discovered this channel and I've loved everything so far :) Bless ♡

@@littleferrhis yeah that's kind of what I figured to. Plus his funny personality was very warm and loving even when he was arguing. I'd say overall that appears to be a pretty good person. And not some scene out of south park when they get addicted to world of Warcraft.

Its wild how many humans used to not understand how these productions worked back then. Hindsight is crazy, but for some people, this shit broke a whole generation of households. If only ten percent of the public saw the raw footage of these shows, i feel we'd all be so much better off.

The reason they have so many trophies is because they participate in so many things that give out trophies. And the parents are the coaches, looking for tournaments etc. that give out as many trophies, ribbons as possible. It's how they measure their worth.

Thought the little of his chat I saw during the video calling him autistic was only saying that because its video games he's specifically addicted to but now that I finished the video, I wholeheartedly agree They were also calling Jayson neurodivergent too and yeah he does act a lot like Andrew too But overall, I'm not a psychologist so I'll just say they need help with their addiction in the same way they would need help if they had a gambling, drug or alcohol addiction
