Absolutely!! Just saw them April 21, in St Petersburg, FL at Mahaffey Theatre. Awesome show, his voice is amazing voice and sound from everyone was superb!!!
If Electric doesn't make you want to bang your head and drive 150mph, check your freaking pulse. This album is absolutely stellar!!!!! Nobody will ever rock the tambourine like Ian.
Kid Chaos aka Haggis aka The Kid on bass( former bass player for Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction), joined The Cult for Electric tour in 1987, did not join till after Electric was recorded, Jamie Stewart played bass on recording and moved over to rhythm guitar for tour . This concert was at Brixton Academy in London 1987. Fave band of all time :)
met ian astbury on a sunny day in surfers paradise qld during the the electric tour .. went to bombay rock the following night .. possibly the best live gig I've ever been to. a perfect storm. 🤘⚡🤘
I caught this tour in the states with guns and roses opening for the cult. It was the only time guns&roses ever played well without the drama. Then the cult came on and lite Dallas up!
Loved Rocking out in the 70 ,80's and 90's best time and the absolute best songs and bands...I'd go back in time it was the absolute best growing up in the 80s as a teenager..Bmx,boom boxes break dancing, skating or football Fri and Saturday nights fishing drinking and concerts..and we wasn't killing each other...what happened with the youth of the nation?
Saw the boys in Atlanta, Georgia, on the Electric tour...absolutely phenomenal! Now one of my very favorite bands...riffs so excellent...Billy Duffy is a Guitar God and has only gotten better and better!
Memory drifts back to 1987 driving out to Worcester to see The Cult open for Billy Idol in Worcester, along the Mass Turnpike, in my freshman roomate's Karmann Ghia having to scrape the inside of the windows on the inside since it had no meaningful defroster. The Cult was sonic coming out for an encore as an opening act, much to the chagrin of Idol.
Still great. "Billy" is one of my favourite guitarists. Saw The Cult play live 5 times. First time was in 1987. Last concert I enjoyed was "Sonic Temple" in 2019. Ian is still the best tambourine player ever. Thank you. God bless you. 💗💌💗🎸
It's been awhile 97 was partying with rockers like myself on n off the road heay I love the southern states people who are very cool greatest ba nds come out of the south
I got to see them in Ottawa (Electric Tour), Duffy's stage monitor wasn't working well that night and I remember Billy looking frustrated as he kicked the shit out of it!..lol... Besides that, it was awesome...and I got introduced to the great Lennie Kravitz..who totally rocked me! But I love The Cult, Ian is the best hard rock jig dancer ever!
Mr.marshall hi watt THANKS FOR YOU'RE AWESOME PICKS FROM THE CULT MAN GOTTA LOVE IT IT'S YOU THAT PUT THESE POWER PICKS TOGETHER OF SPRITIUAL KICK ASS MUSIC THANKS AGAIN
The Goths turned on them and hated them after this. Many people say the Sisters of Mercy and to a lesser extent, The Mission became big i e. had album Chart success as thousands of Cult fans turned their attention to more " goth looking & sounding bands."
Fuck yeah! This'd be about the time I saw them play in Newcastle, when I ran cross town after the gig to catch the last few numbers of Sisters of mercy, as well. What a night that was....
You guys have all the greatest bands over in the UK. All great types and genres of music.😀 That would’ve been a great show if The Sisters and The Cult toured. The Cult would play Dreamtime, Love, early stuff in their set list.😄
use to have this on VHS - wasn't as clear as this - I love how the songs from the "Love" and "Dreamtime" albums were stripped down and more raw on this tour like "Nirvana", "Horse Nation" Thank God they went to Rick Rubin to help them get the Led out - I love the Peace album even though its a bit dis jointed in some areas - where as "Electric" was a bold statement -The G.O.A.T. rock n roll band -
Billy Duffy can always be relied upon to deliver just as good on stage as in the studio. How I long to hear the twin guitar conflict of the 12" Rock Mix of Wildflower played live. Alas, I fear I never shall. Does anyone else feel that Anthony Keidis of RHCP looks like Ian Astbury and Iggy Pop's lovechild?
BIY, do I feel like a dope right now! I must have been living under a rock for a long time because I didn’t know it was biologically possible for two men to produce a love child. Stupid lil’ ol’ me!
Excellent band. I enjoyed it since its appearance and I continue to enjoy its good rock. Too bad the bassist of that recital was almost ordered to stay under the stairs. Luckily, Jamie Stewart was very attentive, approached him and shared energy in the recital. Those are the attitudes that demonstrate the greatness of being. Details that seem small but are huge in the general context. I also continue to applaud the creative greatness of Astbury and Duffy.
Saw that tour in Montreal, opening act was an up and coming band named Guns N Roses! I was front row and the only thing I remember is having to dodge Slash's sweat dripping like rain! Oh and Ian Astbury had a banana in his crotch during the first song lol
I saw same tour, wpg. Didn't pay attention to the opening band. Cult was awesome. 2 yrs later n GNR the biggest band in world. My buddy says, remember we saw them already. ???!! I goes when? At the cult!? Gulp. I was there but never saw them. So I finally did see them in 2017. Journey complete.
Shouldn't there be one more song left at the end? I remember my old worn-out vhs copy had 'Born to be Wild' as an encore. Think this gig was at Brixton Academy, London, if anyone's interested.
It's nice that these boys have themselevs their little band. There's nothing wrong with having a hobby to keep yourself busy and out of trouble. I hope none of them take this seriously and let this interfere with their regular jobs or their schoolwork.
Hey man, thanks for the kind words. Yeah I've been playing Bass, Drums, Guitar & Vocals for 30 years. Toured multiple countries in Punk, Pop, Metal, Rock & Industrial music. I'm an Audio Engineer, Graphic Designer & Producer. Currently working on a new record. Hopefully a new tour in 2023-2024. This video of the Cult was just a passion project because I've always loved the band. Billy gave me a nice shout out a few years back when I first posted it. Seems a ton of people are digging it which makes me super happy. 😎🤟🔥
