My review of the classic 80s album "Disintegration" by the English gothic rock/new wave band The Cure. Many consider this to be the band’s magnum opus, and I have a hard time finding any reason to disagree with them as Robert Smith leads a dark but comforting journey through the caverns of the mind.

I’m one of your (older) viewers and am lucky enough to have seen The Cure several times, including their Disintegration Tour. They played this album in order and the visuals and set design was magical. Really there are no words for the experience. Talk about a vibe.

Disintegration is up there in my top 10 rock albums of all time! It's just that good! Definitely their best album! It's a must listen to album for sure. I picked it up at a my local record shop just recently.

PLEASE REVIEW PORNOGRAPHY. The cure released it in 1982, its the 3rd record of what some fans consider the dark trilogy (17 seconds, faith, and pornography) its their best album IMO, and nearly caused the band to break up. Robert Smith was suicidal, addicted fistula/alcohol at the time and his mental state permeates though some of the songs on the record in a very visceral way. It was meant to be his ‘fuck off’ record, and was an end to the cure of that time ,it changed the trajectory of the band and their music forever and is so pivotal for anyone going through through e discography to listen to. It’s super underrated in comparison to disintegration (it wasn’t as mainstream /accessible ). Pornography is a masterpiece and I wish thatI could listen to it for the first time again. I can’t find many reviews of it on RU-vid unfortunately so I’m hoping you’ll give it a listen and share your thoughts! Faith is another good one!

Disintegration is a "mid-life crisis" album, Bloodflowers is a MID-LIFE CRISIS album, listen to the Trilogy live concert, Bloodflowers shines a thousand times more live.

You're damn right Fascination Street deserves a standing ovation! IMO, the best song on the album. The layers upon layers of instrumentals that build up to the very end creates a very surreal atmosphere, and when you add Smith's signature haunting vocals that ring out from it all, it becomes nothing short of breathtaking.

My appreciation for Lovesong grew massively when I learnt of the backstory. The lyrics are somewhat straightforward but knowing the outright sincerity behind them makes it very special.

Disintegration represents The Cure's identity. Every song in that record is the culmination of everything they ever wanted to be able to express themselves and as a result, one of the best albums of all time when it comes to both expressing a band's identity/artistry and of course, sound. That record is what sets The Cure apart from other bands/musicians, they were able to express their identity which could be rarely seen with new artists nowadays.

The Cure's Disintegration is in my top five albums of all time (see also: the profile picture). Either Prayers for Rain or Closedown is my favorite from the album.

I compare The Cure to The Who. Both are fantastic bands with a great discography that's very hard to rank their albums. Both of their early albums are great, but their later mid albums were fantastic as well. The Who's Who's Next and Quadrophenia were are fantastic. Both are my top 2 Who albums. And The Cure went in a little bit of a pop direction with The Head on the Door and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and went back to their roots with Disintegration, which I consider to be their best album! Like I said, their early material were great, but it took The Who 7 albums (including Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy) to get to their best album while it took The Cure 9 ( including Japanese Whispers as a studio album) to get to their best album too. Both bands are great nonetheless! It just shows that they both made really awesome albums and music fans still listen to both of them today! That's incredible!

Wish got me into the Cure, but Disintegration is definitely their most complete album. The Same Deep Water As You is best listened to in the dark on headphones and Pictures of You has the be the quintessential Cure track, perfectly encompassing their mix of goth doom and pop.

Funny, just yesterday i highly recommended this album to a friend who had never listened to any of The Cure, which stroke me as a big surprise knowing his taste in music. I played my favorite song Fascination Street to him and he was really surprised how good it was. Now to think of it, i don't believe i know anyone who hasn't liked this album... My top 5 songs are Fascination Street, Lullaby, Closedown, Pictures Of You and The Same Deep Water As You. This is by far my favorite Cure album. I also love the albums "Seventeen Seconds" and "The Head On The Door"

Great almost 19th century romantic poet style lyrics, suspenseful tunes, depressing but motivating at the same time, and the best part of this album for me is the synth which makes its entry at the start of the third verse of the title track.

I feel a Plainsong Part 2 or 'Reprise' would be a better way to end this album, as opposed to the final two songs, or at least remove one of them and have a Plainsong Reprise/part 2 at the end. I've always thought Homesick and Untitled were easily the weakest songs on this album. I would scrap Untitled and have the Plainsong 2 to end the album. I wonder if Robert Smith is reading 🤣🤣

The first record i bought was pornography and i didnt like it at first but it grew on me, ive probably listened to it on vinyl 50 times. I just got kiss me kiss me kiss me. I dont really like it because i was weighing it against pornography. I was looking for something similar which is why im watching this.

I'm SOOOO happy to see you finally review a cure album, and disintegration is an utter mastepiece!!! Personally my top tracks are probably pictures of you, last dance, fascination street, prayers for rain, same deep water as you, and disintegration (but honestly i love all of them!) Would definitely be down for wish review 1000%. Also for other throwback suggestions i'd personally love to see siamese dream / mellon collie by smashing pumpkins, or unknown pleasures / closer by joy division

I made the mistake of starting off by listening three imaginary boys, seventeen seconds and the head on the door before listening to disintegration. Although theyre fine albums i didnt come back to them much and a few years later i finally listened to this album and it blew me away! If you’re trying to get into the cure you must start here first imo it is a perfect album
