I can't believe they played Burn. After the death of Brandon Lee, which featured on the soundtrack to the film The Crow, they rarely ever played Burn. It was 25+ years or so when they began playing it again. Glad you got to see it live.
The anxiety for me of YOU being late... I just can't. haha, I would have been wreck hearing the music and still being on the walkway. Glad you made it though.
I remember those stressful times driving in L.A. to get to a event. Haven’t been to the Hollywood Bowl since I saw Kenny Loggins back around 1988 or so. It Really has changed since then. The Cure sounded the same, awesome, thanks for sharing.
I was there on Tuesday night’s performance Robert Smith’s voice is still superb 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼❤️ Great time Sorry I didn’t bump into you We were in H row 22 seats 101-104
I still have their greatest hits cassette tape from 1986 (Standing on a Beach) and played the heck out of that!! Also have some of their albums and 12" singles. They sound great LIVE!
I saw em in the 90s at a place called the Gorge in Washington, middle of no where, desert mountains, they came on just as the sun went down, been to many big concerts and small shows, the Cure is number 1 for straight up magical vibes. Thanks for this!
Awesome! I found your channel several days ago and have been watching basically nonstop! I love the 80's as well, and I my favorite band just happens to be The Cure! I am bummed I was not able to get tickets, so glad you got to go! I am going to San Francisco to see Depeche Mode in December! Keep up the great stuff on the channel!! I especially love the filming locations for the 80's movies, and of course the music (and shows, commercials and toys, basically everything 80;s)!!
Saw them in Birmingham England on this tour and they were amazing. I wish the new album would hurry because the new tracks they played were amazing 🎸🎸🎸🏴🏴🏴
I just saw them in Chicago on June 10. The day after my birthday. They were incredible as usual. I’d seen them once before in 1996, but this time around was a cut above. The 5th row seats helped! Haha
It was a big week for us aging Xers: The Cure at the Hollywood Bowl and Cruel World headlined by Siouxsie Sue. I'm off to see classic UK hardcore punks Exploited and Conflict this weekend.
I'm going to the June 25th show in MD! I can't wait either! Have a great time at your show. Our venue is sold out so I'm hoping my sister leaves early so we get in at a decent time
Love The Cure. Saw them in the 90s together with The Prodigy and RUN DMC and a couple of years ago solo. Why Can’t I Be You is one of my favorite songs which appears to be missing from their set these days. Well….enough other gems!
🔥We were in section M2 on the 24th with a similar view. We walked down to the bushes between sections a couple times and got a little closer standing views. ❤Loved the show. The middle did get deep and slow, musically it was wonderful tho. I wish I would have seen them play Love Cats and Hot Hot Hot but I can’t complain!
Good God man why did you park so far away….that’s insane. Also the Church you got married in is the Back To The Future filing location for the Dance. Thanks for the video!! I wish I could have gone, I tried so hard to get tickets but no luck.
Was there on Tuesday and was bummed that they didn’t play “Disintegration”.. you Wednesday people are lucky! Also, the official merch prices were extremely low! I bought 4 shirts for about $100! Nowadays at concerts they’re usually $50 each!
I'm not a cure fan, but like you said Kurt, they did sound great and that Hollywood bowl venue looks like a cool place to catch a show. I will have to check it out if i ever go to LA one day. Thanks for the vid!
I was there the night before for matchbox 20. Way up in section U. Good view of the venue from up there, but caught a cold from all of the cold misty fog from being up in the clouds.
I agree with your analysis of the set list not being for the casual fan. I took my kids to Thursday's show and they had to wait for over an hour to hear a song they recognized. They were playing great songs but the pacing was off, too many slow to mid-tempo songs in a row. I was also disappointed that they cut out Six Different Ways on Thursday. I was anticipating they would bring back that one after it was in the "IT" movie and was excited to hear it was in the new setlist but they dropped it on Thursday. They also did not play Let's Go the Bed
THANK YOU -THANK YOU -THANK YOU!!!!! 🙏🏼 The Cure sounded amazing! Your edit was absolutely brilliant and your review was spot on Kurt! Really appreciate this SO MUCH 🙏🏼👻
I'm 47, and there are 4 bands that I have loved for most of my life, and when I hear them it takes me back to the 80s,and 90s. REM, INXS,The Pixies, and of course The Cure, love your channel brother!
How long was the show? I was was absolutely shocked when they played for almost 4.5 hours when they came to town. Started at 7 and didn’t end until almost 11:30pm
Was there, band was great. . . Hollywood bowl not so much!. Sqeeze 60 people per row onto benches that might fit 40 comfortably. "Jumbo tron" screens looked like large TVs from Bestbuy. Camera work was to set a GoPro on the ground and call it good (was great looking at Roger's legs for 2 hours)
Dude thanks for sharing! What a great set list! I can’t believe they play “ six different ways” wow!! Again thank you for sharing. I couldn’t go because the price was just to much for my wallet hahaha
My old girlfriend *loved* The Cure. Me, I think they have a couple of songs I like. But slow, depressing stuff is not for me. They sounded good though. There's nothing like the nervous "oh no we're late" than a concert already started "oh no we're late" :)
Hollywood Bowl is the worst venue ever unless you can afford $1000+ to buy a box up front. The venue is way too big. Mid section is $100+ per ticket and you already can’t see the people on stage. And yes, normal people parking is a mile away lol. Very good sound system though
I feel the same way about the Amphitheatre down here in San Diego (Chula Vista). This middle section and back section just feel so far away. Concerts at the Forum, Sports Arena or Honda Center feel closer no matter where you sit.
Pretty nice video, thank you! There is no normal road traffic in LA... there is only traffic jam. A pain in the aXX! Lucky I went around from the Roosevelt Hotel. The atmosphere was really quite good and I really like the Hollywood Bow. But... this was the 18th The Cure concert for me and in the last years some problems showed up, especially regarding Robert's voice.
Looks and sounds like it was a great show. I've only seen John Williams conduct at the Hollywood Bowl a few times but I've never seen an actual rock act there.
