I saw them in both of these time periods.. when I was a teenager (15) and again @55.. 40 years apart . There isn’t a word yet to describe this level of nostalgia I experience in moments such as this⭐️
I freaking love The Cure, and this song fills me with such wonderful nostalgia for the nights a much younger me would dance around my house in the evening, holding my then 3 year old son by the hands and dancing him around while he laughed in delight. I was pretty far along in my second pregnancy then too so it was quite a workout, ha, but such a great memory as a mom. RIP my sweet Daniel, he passed in 2015 but forever in this mother’s heart.
Thanks Shawn! Loved this reaction😊 I’m glad you liked this song, and that live performance😊 This is definitely one of the Cure’s lighter songs…to me it's one of the most perfect pop songs ever written. It seemed like a hidden treasure to me in the 80’s (since it only reached #40 in the U.S. and wasn’t on the radio often), but I think it's fair to say that it's one of their best-known and loved songs now. Robert Smith saw “Lovesong” as the most straightforward love song he had written, but he had written love songs for Mary before, including this one which he wrote a year earlier.
The Cure is probably my favorite band of thier type of genre / music, but of course I have been fond of most music that is relatable or similiar in style. This was an awesome studio / live comparison though, so thank you!!!
Saw The Cure in Denver in 1992. 9th row center. GREAT concert. One of the best I ever experienced. And I've seen over a hundred concerts. They are great live, because they focus on the music, not dancing, or other bs.
Thank you. I was going to mention this myself. When I first heard her version I had to rack my brain for a few minutes before I got the Cure connection.
They were my first concert in 87 during their Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me tour. Have seen them several times since with Disintegration my favorite tour (and album) by far. Will always be one of my all time favorite bands and they still have it even today - just saw them on their last tour and it was incredible.
Been a Cure fan from Texas since 1982. I was lucky enough to see them live in the mid 80's, mid 90's and 2001. All great but the one in the 90's was the best. Three hours of pure Cure rockin'! That show converted my older sister from a Cure detractor to a fan. Just fantastic. I'm still waiting for the day when Robert stops trying so hard to look so bad. I love him dearly but these days he just comes off looking like a scary old lady.
All live reactions should start with the studio version first. And thank God for all those extended remixes of this song on RU-vid cause it’s just way too short.
In case no one has told you lately (and they usually do), your videos and especially your commentary are intelligent, heartfelt, and unique, and there is no one like you. The world needs more people like you. Your commentary shines a light on the music that's always interesting and makes people think. Thanks for all your hard work.
Thank you for all of you who enjoy the content and let it be known! You all have definitely earned a place in my heart which keeps me going with this channel. I love the experience of hearing this music that is new to me and sharing my experiences with all of you! Thank you again for the great outpouring of support and love
Robert Smith is also one of the main four people who Neil Gaiman based the appearance of Morpheus/Dream of the Endless on. The other three being Neil himself, ballet dancer Farukh Ruzimatov, and Peter Murphy of Bauhaus.
Shawn you continue to hit home runs with your choices in music thanks to all of the people you listen to, as always thank you for sharing so much great music with us.
@@intothesunset3 well some of those were clear highlights due to the conditions like Trilogy concerts, Black session (recorded in a small radio studio with a very short audience), the Curaetion 25, an acoustic set in a very small bar. In regular tour or festivals, some setlists were just fantastic...
@@nikolaprim13 Thanks for answering my rather silly question :) That's amazing!! I'm jealous...I've seen them just three times, all three were incredible of course.
The guitar riff on this one always reminds me of "All over the world" by the band VspyVspy. Check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-82jg9OoqViA.htmlsi=2cBK_agallX98ZLH
