Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RU-vid, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RU-vid. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RU-vid, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Such an influential song and band. Crazy this came out almost 45 years ago. Pioneers and legends. And when they play it live it’s on another level.

The live version from 1992 which becomes like a magical jam session just blows you away when you hear it. Simon on bass, Roberts vocals, the whole band just went off and it was brilliant!!

I am glad that Robert decided to keep the song warm like this. The producer wanted to make it like a radio friendly tune. Robert said no way and decided to keep all the atmosphere and space in it. It is probably the most atmospheric song i ever heard - the amount of immersion and ominous veil is completely unmatched. Nothing better than being lost inside a rainy forest with this tune on the background and nearby river as well. The amount of space is also interesting, everything breaths in such a calm and comfort vibe.

A Forest, and Charlotte Sometimes are probably in my top 5 Cure songs of all time. As has already been pointed out, you’ve probably heard Just Like Heaven, or Friday I’m In Love.

Yeah, the mainstream one's in the mid and later 80's are super well-known and popular but if you really know The Cure you know that those are good for the masses but the really good stuff was not on the radio.

The most popular Cure songs where I grew up in the US were from later in their career and much more upbeat, in line with US tastes, songs like ""Let's Go to Bed" from 1982 and "The Lovecats" from 1983, both of which charted high in the US.. Songs from earlier in their career like "A Forest" (1980) had a more atmospheric, even morose sound and are what the Cure established their reputation on, but they were less mainstream popular usually, kind of what would be considered alt-rock or something like that today. Somewhat familiar songs from that phase of their career include "Boys Don't Cry" (1979), "Jumping Someone Else's Train" (1979), "Primary" (1981), "Charlotte Sometimes" (1981), and "The Hanging Garden" (1982).

Great reaction, as usual!😊 This song has always seemed metaphorical to me, regardless of what Robert Smith said about it just being about a forest...to me it's about getting deep into a relationship and then being left there alone and realizing it wasn't real...something like that. A few of their songs you might have heard: "Lovesong," "Friday I'm in Love" and "Just Like Heaven." "A Forest" is one of the songs they've played live most often...I got to see them play it at a festival high up in the Swiss Alps once, on a beautiful starry night...one of my favorite concert experiences ever. The Cure have tons of great songs (and have had a lot of variety in their music over the years, while keeping their own distinctive sound).

I think you have a great take on this song! Definitely picked up on the vibes of abandonment, loneliness and isolation with the vocals and music selection

@@ShawnSalvadori Yes :) IMO also comforting and relaxing somehow at the same time...I never find their music depressing, even when it's dark.

Great reaction! Early Cure is a big influence on Goth culture, so your thoughts about isolation and loneliness are very intuitive. Excellent band to dive into. “Charlotte Sometimes” is another good jam from the more goth sounding Cure.

If you really like such gloomy post-punk sounds from Britain, then you might want to try bands like Joy Division, (more songs of) The Cure and Echo & The Bunnymen. Almost any song from the period 1979-1983 will do. I dug their music as a teen... and I still do.😉

I watch other reaction channels and it is often the case people have heard songs not knowing who the artist is. Which to me is a testament to the brilliance of the music of the last century. But I'm thinking you would not have heard this band anywhere before...
@intothesunset3
@intothesunset3 8 месяцев назад
It doesn't surprise me that he hasn't heard this song before, but I would be surprised if he has never heard any of their hits in the U.S. ("Lovesong," especially)...and if he hasn't, he has heard other bands which were influenced by the Cure.
