To quote Kyle: "Disintegration" is the greatest album ever!!! Part of the New Romantic era of Rock in the 80s, The Cure stands above all others. An unfortunate consequence was that they are also inseparable to the Emo/Goth aesthetic that also arose in the 80s. This is unfortunate because they have some very happy songs as well "Friday, I'm in Love." I am a complete metalhead but good is good and The Cure is VERY good. Their influence can easily be heard in the Doom, Gothic, and even Progressive Death genres.

One of my favorite musical moments of all time is the second to the last verse of this song. "There is nothing in the world that I ever wanted more than to feel you so deep in my heart." Thanks for reacting to this song. It's a beautiful little masterpiece and I really loved both of your opinions on it. Too many people dismiss The Cure as tortured goth rock, yet they've never listened to a single song. If you ever want to hear their flip side of pure angst, listen to The Kiss, from the album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. It's almost a four-minute guitar solo that's an emotional journey that it's singing lyrics. Then Robert Smith sings eight lines and enough said.

There's some of the best guitar rock, like Cut, The Kiss, Shiver And Shake, Want and live versions of A Night Like This. Then there are just deep, dark, lyrical tracks like The Figurehead, Faith, Home Sick, Open and Siamese Twins. Then there's classic 80's synth pop like Let's Go To Bed, The Walk, The Upstairs Room, Lament and Close To Me. And other great tracks like Play For Today, Secrets, M, Jumping Someone Else's Train, I'm Cold, Lullaby, The Hanging Garden, End, Gone, Jupiter Crash, Scared As You, This Twilight Garden, A Strange Day, Three Imaginary Boys and A Short Term Effect.

Glad you guys reacted to The Cure. A lot of people don't realize that the band started out in the 70's. Robert Smith is quite an interesting personality and a lot of people also might not know he played guitar for Siouxsie And The Banshees in the early '80s. Glad you picked a song to react to off of their Disintegration album, which many consider one of their best albums and which is an opinion I share. Hard to believe that it is over 29 years ago that The Cure released it, back in '89. A lot of really good songs off Disintegration too like Lullaby, Fascination Street, and the title track Disintegration in addition to Pictures of You, but the whole album is a gem. If you get a chance, I would recommend reacting to some other tracks off that album. Supposedly Pictures of You was written by Smith after he experienced a fire in his home and came across a wallet with pictures of his wife, Mary. Smith met Mary when he was 14, and they have been married since 1988.

Why the 90s ruled. Bands listened to and were influenced by everything and it came out in their sounds. Played free without trying to impress a record executive

Vin and Sori, The Cure is classic “PostPunk” and slowly established what would become the ‘goth’ sound, which influenced everybody from Maynard (specially the Perfect Circle sound) NIN, Korn, and countless other bands in the 90’s and 2000’s

The song came about after Robert Smith had found pictures of his wife amongst the ashes after a house fire... A great and thoughtful review... There are many great Cure songs and gems can be found on every single album they released in their 40 year career ... My two fave Albums are 'Head On The Door' & 'Disintegration...

Your knowledge about J Davis of Korn was on point. He is a big fan of The Cure and Duran Duran. 80s was a great era of music.

Cure. Love it. They had so many good songs. Forest, boys don’t cry, love cats, killing an Arab. Very good live too.

You guys should do more cure, great band. Their sound went from super dark and violent goth rock (pornography) to straight up 80s new wave pop (kiss me) back to depressing, albeit much less violent and angry, goth rock (disintegration). Disintegration is often called the best album of all time, and for good reason, y’all ever need a good cry, listen to disintegration lmao.

RS sings of the past tense in this song. he's singing about a girl who died, possibly au suicide. i think that's a dead giveaway and when he sings... "remembering you...." and "you finally found all your courage to let it all go." i honestly believe he's talking about a girl who died. that's my interpretation though...

This is in my top five songs and it's awesome that this track could bring about an honest discussion about it's contents. So much truth here, it's refreshing. Thanks!

The cure are a goth rock band. They started in the 70's. You have to react to one of their classics. They have so many great songs. Try In Between Days, Boys Don't Cry, Love Cats and Friday I'm in Love.
