I apologize for not realizing RU-vid Poops were still a thing. I wasn't an avid follower of them in their heyday and since I hadn't heard a peep out of them for the longest time, I just assumed RU-vid's increasing amount of copyright claims and rapidly-changing algorithm preferences killed them off for good. I didn't bother checking to see if they were indeed still a thing and I apologize for not being more thorough.
yeah, they're still here. and very little has changed, outside of new types of jokes. but RU-vid Poops of Dr Rabbit are exceedingly rare nowadays. also, about your video. I see the situation on both sides. yes, Colgate was in the right to be protective of their IP. but at the same time, the RU-vid Poop Community weren't intentionally trying to cause harm to the brand. they were trying to make those videos for entertainment. was it a bit much? well, the answer is different depending on who you ask. but I get where you were coming from. if you don't like them, that's fine. I just wanted to show my perspective.
YTPs have definitely changed for the better nowadays. Not only are the jokes generally in better taste, but the process in video editing has been massively improved.
The only thing I have to disagree with is Colgate having every right to take down videos that were covered by Fair Use. Corporations have been abusing online copyright claims for so many things over the years, and whether regardless of anyone not liking the art made by remixing certain footage or not, no company should be defended for taking down content when made for solely fair use. That said this was a very enriching video and I really enjoyed watching it, honestly one of your best in terms of research and delivery.
This is Great and informitive video! I discoverted Dr. Rabbit via the YTPs as a kid which I watched a lot during the early 2010's and honestly they were and still are funny today, In fact when I discovered Dr. Rabbit on some Colgate toothpaste from my dentist I was like "Oh cool that character from the funny YTPs is on a product" and it made me want more Colgate toothpaste subconstasly. Funny how that happens huh? Speaking of YTPs one of my favorite YTPs of all time (Both as a kid & now) "Caillou Goes to Africa" had Dr. Rabbit in it but censored while I did understand the SOPA & PIPA part of the joke when I was younger (Kind of) I didn't not understand why Dr. Rabbit was the one that was censored but I do and I have some thoughts on that. The copyright strike Colgate gave to the YTPer's was hella unjustified since the YTPs were fair use and transformative alongside aiming for a diffrent audiance then what the rabbit was known for, This copyright situation with Colgate in an odd way kind of reminds me of the copyright strikes Derek Savage gave to reviews of Cool Cat because they were "mean" and making "crude jokes" about Cool Cat. No wonder YTPer's reacted in the way they did, in fact the attacks on Colgate helped them prepare people for future attacks companies did on RU-vid *cough* Viacom *cough*. That's just my opinion though on the whole ordeal, This disscusion could go on forever but I made my point clear. Still a great retrospective overall props on you!
Reminder, we YTP folk still exist! The big names have just retired so it's up to smaller folk to pick up the slack! Awesome video, anyway! Glad it's finally out!
I remember seeing Dr. Rabbit during my Health Class back my Kindergarten days. We mostly watched "Geena The Giraffe's Tremendous Tooth Adventure" (from 1994) which was my preferred health video. I wish I knew who voiced the titular giraffe in that video.
As someone who use to watch a lot of early YTPs, Dr. Rabbit was definitely a frequent character alongside the Philips CDI cutscenes of the Mario and Zelda games.
Tbh, I feel a little bad for Colgate and Dr Rabbit and Mrs Butler. All they ever wanted was to help the world clean their teeth and prevent tooth diseases. But the internet decided to turn their innocent mascot into a very edgy meme. And that meme kinda overshadowed the original character.

Holy crap, I forgot about Wiggly Tooth! Until this video arrived, Wiggly Tooth had been flying somewhere in the deepest areas in my memory until today. Thank you for solving my 20 year search man! I hadn't see Wiggly Tooth since I was in Kindergarten! I remember seeing Wiggly Tooth before I lost my first tooth. However, I only cared about the animated sections than the live-action section. :) If I remember correctly, my Health Class used to show Wiggly Tooth at least once a year back at my local Elementary School. I remember watching Wiggly Tooth three times during my Kindergarten days before we seen Dr. Rabbit at least twice. I remember feeling sad when Wiggly Tooth started crying after getting covered in sweets and candy.
In my opinion no company should be able to take down obvious fair use. And why do people call ytps “edgy”? Half of them are literally more tame than most crap on RU-vid now. Great video though.
But creators like Jallerbo, Umbra Lupin and Hellion Hero have made plenty of edgy YTP's! Examples include: 1. YTP: Spinge Binge: The S*x Joke Event 2. YTP: Sh*t Story 3. YTP: Sonic's Ass-venture: Erector's Nut Seriously, edgy YTP's do exist! They're not too hard to find.
Seeing that footage from The Fox Cubhouse led me to rediscover Rimba's Island. I remember seeing a rerun of it ONCE in the early 2000s, and yet I still remember it. There was something to do with the crocodile character getting lost, and following the sound of his belching. Pretty sure, anyway.
can't wait to see your loonatics unleashed review. that series has been hated and beaten to the ground enough, so it'll be refreshing to see a positive take for once. really nice retrospective btw! i remembered all the ytps back when i was admittedly not supposed to be on youtube, but it's nice to get some insight on who he actually is.
Lol ytps are alive and doing better than ever, with many being amazingly creative masterpieces. One of my earliest videos made on RU-vid was a dr rabbit ytp😂😂. Still remember when colgate took it down too.
The Mixed Up Mother Goose theme on Doctor Rabbit Comes To School was pretty spotted on. Also, I can't be the only one who imitated a guitar when Gokai said "Super Duper Brushing Champions".

@@carnage0685 Because those RU-vid Poops depicted the rabbit as evil and paedophilic, whereas in the original cartoon, he was anything but. It's like with Michael Rosen (another popular YTP source) where his original videos are aimed at kids, while the edited versions are aimed at adults. I was introduced to the guy via YTP's, but years later, i would discover that he was the same guy who wrote my favourite childhood book, We're Going On A Bear Hunt. It was weird for me to learn about that fact. And i feel kinda bad for him, because people only know him for memes, not his stories that shaped a generation.
@@worthybutter2004 I suppose, but I still find those RU-vid Poops of him to be hilarious, even to this day. In fact, ESPECIALLY today. I don't think it's a bad thing to learn about a character through an illegitimate source before finding the real thing. Also by no means would I even REMOTELY compare Michael Rosen to Dr. Rabbit. Rosen is a real person, and a lot of the people who watch the RU-vid Poops are actually very fond of the guy. Stupid, funny videos can do a lot to help shape someone's life, especially in the early years, and they can become EXTREMELY important in their later years if they shape their sense of humor.
@@carnage0685 I know he's a real person. But i think my point still stands. That being, while there's nothing wrong with poking fun at a children's character, it's always important to remember the original and give credit to it when due.

Other characters about dental highen are an anthropomorphic girafe girl with her first adulte tooth & King Cavity, a giant gorilla wearing a crown and had rotten teeth.
I didn't know this had already premiered on August 30th honestly. I was expecting this to come out in like October 6th or October 8th. I was THAT patient. Also, RU-vid Poops haven't really gotten the way of the dodo, it's just that a lot of the edgy guys of the early years are gone now & there are more interesting & clever ones being made, especially as editing improves. Of course some of the olden ones are good too, at least the ones that are moreso funny than just being offensive without any substance like the Dr. Rabbit ones, but even today there are some great ones being made that are less about being offensive without substance & are more about actually being funny.

@@worthybutter2004 Oh.. Yikes. I wouldn't really consider them that edgy, though, as much as they are FILTHY. Like, I enjoy having some filth in my YTPs, but those are just.. Kind of disgusting. The Spongebob one would be a lot more funny if it wasn't so constant. Actually, maybe all of them would. It's kind of a shame.
When i was in Maternelle *preschool for you americans*, we had a dentist wearing a tooth costume come to our class to teach us about brushing our teeth, we also had a dinosaur with human teeth to teach us that, he/she *i don't that dinosaur's gender* was name Dent-o-saur and that character did not look normal, who the hell put human teeth of a t-rex knock off!?
