Hey, gang,
I'm back after a while with another grading video - this one featuring a stack of Golden Age issues of Dell Publishing's Walt Disneys Comics and Stories. Yes, these are all low grade issues. If they're high grade, they would have gone off to CGC, after all. Still, I think there's plenty here in the way of conversation starters on the topic of how to properly grade a comic book, or, at least, this gives you a change to peak inside some 1940s-era comics. you might otherwise never get a chance to see in the wild.

I just need three more comics and I'll have a complete set of early Carl Barks Walt Disney's Comics and Stories. It's been a long fun hunt. :-)

What ones you looking for? I most likely have them

@@Messifan629 Well, I just need two of them now. Those would be Walt Disney Comics and Stories #33 and Walt Disney Comics and Stories #43 in about 2.0 to maybe 4.0, I’d love higher grade ones but I just can’t afford them.

@@Messifan629Update, I now have a complete set of of 2.0 to 4.5 Walt Disney Comics and Stories #31-63 (from 1943-1945). Plus a couple of the Mickey and Donald Christmas Firestone Barks Donald Duck stories reprinted from WDCAS from 1943-1944, plus the 1945 one that has the first appearance of Grandma Duck and a low grade Four Color Comics #62 Barks Donald Duck comic 'Frozen Gold' from January 1945.and the Four Color #79 Carl Barks Mickey Mouse comic 'The Riddle of the Red Hat.' All I would really need to complete my early Barks Disney collection would be Four Color Comics #9 'Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold!' from October 1942 (Barks's first Donald Duck comic, Illustrated by him and written by Bob Karp) and Four Color #29 Donald Duck and the Mummy's Ring.' (Sept 1943) (This one is actually written and Illustrated by Barks.) But I think those two key comics are probably out of my price range.

😄Oh no Duke , voice cracking indicates childhoods conclusion! 😫 We can't have our comic book caring childhood closing off! First your voice cracking then your announcement that this may be the last we share comic book sentiments with Ralph! 😱And it all happened during a Walt Disney Comics and Stories " A " ticket optical ride! Referencing Howard Keel ( Seven Brides For Seven Brothers) is telling us you discovered --Girls! Well , like Charlie Brown , if she's a redhead I completely understand , completely😋!

Ive recently gotten into these comics and was looking for ANY video about them. I own a WD C&S from 1950 i nabbed for under 20 bucks. I think the reason why they are so under the radar is because people who collected them hardcore in the 40s-70s have died or retired. And not to mention most of the American market for them is doninated by hero books, ironically these kind of comics are still huge in Europe.

Disney was expensive in 70-90s relative to other material so I never bothered. Now it is affordable and barks is incredible artist and story teller. I prize my Duck books and I have EC, timely , Marvel etc. I appreciate any genre as long as art and stories are high quality or have special nostalgia.

I just came apon over 4 boxes of nothing but golden age Walt Disney comics. I have went through them and it's amazing the amount of comics I have and most are in rather nice shape. I plan to sell them. What is the tell tale sign they are a Carl Barks comic?

You may not see this, but what do you think about selling super early Disney comic and stories #2 or 3? Should I hold? Nobody can tell me what to do.
