Batman was portrayed exactly how I always wanted him to be.... dark, brooding and flat out scary. This Batman did what rogue one did for Darth Vader.... it made me actually fear him if he were to actually exist. Zack did great could not care less how the haters feel. This movie was awesome.
@@_turing_1984 Probably because the effort isn't around censorship but focusing on the subject matter (living in a country trying to massacre Jews in an industrial manner).
Dude, scarecrow has been through some shit at this point. Batman too, casually walking up to the ledge so he can jump off it and onto a car like a professional swimmer getting ready to take a lap.
Subtle? I feel like Nolan was hitting us over the head his "That's not Him...Now that's more like it..."? It was pretty obvious to the audience it wasn't Batman. And even if it wasn't, a little mystery and misdirection is fun in a movie.
@@snowtime5500 The "No Murder" rule was merely a product of the Hays Codes because people were worried that comics (that were meant for kids) were corrupting the youth. Comics plagiarized these stories from earlier pulp short stories meant for adults. The first issues of Batman had him killing criminals and carrying a gun. Batman not killing criminals and working with the police is a product of earlier censorship. Pulp and Noire aren't supposed to be for kids.
@@L_Lawliet1907 The rule is quite flexible and it's been broken many times. Even in film, it was only the Nolan movies that explicitly emphasized it (some would say excessively so). I think Burton probably struck the right balance by not making Batman look like a vengeful Vigilante, but also not holding him strictly to the "rule." Once you get into the Nolan films, and the recent film, the rule starts to look ridiculous because of the darker content in these movies. It would be like having Al Pacino in a cop movie about Prostitutes but it's PG-13 with no nudity and no blood or swearing. Is this cop movie for kids? No, not based on the subject matter, but it's not really for adults either. The Batman of the No Kill Rule era in the comics was an optimistic hero for children. These recent movies may call Batman a hero, but the tone is Nihilistic, so the no kill rule feels tacked on or imported from different material where it made sense. And these newer movies are NOT for kids.
@@slasherversegaming6636 cause scarecrow breath some of his own fear toxin in batman begins and scarecrow now sees batman like a big bleeding black vampire
Ahmad Whitmire I had watched Batman Begins many times before Dark Knight thank you. I was only 8 I didn't expect another appearance from that Villain. I was use to the classic Marvel move of killing off the villains and them not coming back
Seriously. I don't think Chris Nolan understands how falling works. Bats also survives later just landing on a car. Armor isn't some coverall that defeats gravity.
@@joeysingingchannel Greatest armor of all, plot amor. Smartest thing I've seen for batman in film is how in JL and BvS his suit has a built in voice changer. However you can still clearly make out his speech pattern. Neither batman or Bruce speaks with their mouth open, teeth always gritted.
@@RyZeRxWolfChannel Something to think about, sure the cape even in the comics, movies, and cartoon slows his fall, but by how much? What you said makes sense to think about like that. Just repeatedly landing like he does.
I love just how "normal" Scarecrow sounds despite wearing a potato sack on his head and knowing what he can do to people. You would expect a threatening voice to come from him but instead we get the most average joe "If you don't like what I have to offer you can buy from someone else."
Seriously, from the moment he jumps onto a moving van, attempts to cut a damn hole into its side, gets smashed by a concrete pillar and just slowly raises to his feet again, I’ve never seen a scene that better encapsulates and personifies what this character represent, pure force of will and perseverance
@@dennismichealsm3786 Maybe of how intimidating he is in that movie. His combat skills and detective work looks awesome. The only problem is however, is his ‘not killing’ code since he doesn’t give 2 shits of who he crosses first that are either alive or dead.
Mor Mar Did you not see Batman Begins before then? Scarecrow had a much bigger role in that movie and was played by the same actor. (Not trying to be rude, just curious.)
Jeff Carroll, no he is wearing $300k military prototype kevlar survival suit that's tear resistant, stops a knife, and any bullet but a straight one. cmon man, get with the sistem.
Basic physics; for Batman's mechanical grip to bend that gun barrel, the guy holding it would also need to have super grip capable of bending steel, otherwise the gun would've just been pulled from his hands.
Hmm, I never noticed that before. The thing is, didn't Nolan barely ever use CGI in his Batman films? How did the actor manage to hold on to the gun? Was the barrel a plastic one in that shot and the shotgun in the other shots a real, metal one?
TBH I think this is a great realization of Scarecrow cause it absolutely nails his fixation and attachment to Batman, and his eagerness to actually interact with him more because he enjoys the thrill of fear he gets from the pursuit.
After the cliffhanger ending in BB, I was hoping that we would have seen a longer and better fight between Batman and Scarecrow. Sadly, Scarecrow is only very briefly onscreen in TDK. While his role was slightly bigger in TDKR, I still wish we could have seen him use the fear toxin again, while speaking in that demonic-like tone of voice, but unfortunately, he was just a courtroom judge and nothing more. We don't even get to see if he was arrested by the GPD or not. Ah well, Cillian Murphy still nailed the character pretty well!
I loved Scarecrow in BB but i there just wasn't enough time for him in TDK, they already had Joker and Two-Face, in my opinion the 2 most iconic Batman villains.
@Sheriff Yoda so u want him in another movie as the main main villain? batman has so many villains they cant just use the same villain, he was used quite a lot in begins even though he wasn't the mastermind behind it all
Bruh Cillian Murphy is so talented. I watched this one before Batman begins and thought he was an extra Batman but still recognized him instantly. Even in the one line he has all movie you can still tell that it was delivered extremely well
The moment after he says "pity there is only one of you", and that other thug guy gets eaten by the night; the actor really delivered a great feeling of mixed emotions. He was so confident a second ago, then he doesn't know what to think because he doesn't understand what's happening. Wonderful scene (y)
Absolutely, they are both great actors. Too bad Snyder made Affleck kill and use guns as batman. I can wait to see what Affleck does with batman when he directs the new batman movie.
+Dexter Morgan no he does not. I read almost every Batman comic and he never killed anyone. If someone did die it would have been by accident. Plus what superhero have you ever seen kill. (all the superheros i like) Spiderman doesn't kill, Superman doesn't kill, Daredevil doesn't kill, and of course Batman doesn't
Ahmad Whitmire Clearly, you have NOT read almost every Batman comic. In The Dark Knight Returns, one of the most famous and influential Batman books ever, Batman snaps Joker's neck and kills several henchmen.
MrMariomota I agree Ben Affleck’s a good actor, but he just didn’t have that nuance and spirit that Christian Bale and Michael Keaton had. CAN’T BEAT THE CLASSICS!!
He did handle Scarecrow pretty easily the last time in BB, it was only the first time he got defeated since he didn't know who he was up against but since Scarecrow is kind of a one trick pony in these movies he could take him down after that
Fake Batman: "We're trying to help you!" Real Batman: "I don't need help" Scarecrow: "Not my diagnosis" My friend: "😂" Me: "Shut up Tommy. You sold out your family!!!! No amount of brilliant portrayals of comic book characters and snarky comments will free the Shelbys."
2:57 Batman: Don't let us find you out here again. Bat-thug: We're trying to help you. Dynamight: We don't need help from you! Scarecrow (Unmasked): Not my diagnosis. Bat-thug: What gives you the right? What the differents between you and me? Batman: I'm not wearing hockey pads.
so much for being a symbol that everyone can aspire to become. "Sure everyone can be Batman, you just need to be just as rich as I am, afford a gun-bending device, car-cutter and shock-absorbing boots. Also, no hockey mats"
I've always though that Batman does not want anyone to become like him ultimately, that he would prefer they have happier and slightly more sane lifes.
Y'all ever think bad guys got that "Batman feeling"(that's what I call it) Like you hit up a bank in the middle of the night everything's going smoothly and one of your guys is like "this is too easy we better hurry before Batman shows up" then you get outside and your shooting at the cops and YOU get this strange feeling you turn around and you see the Batmobile.
Seriously though, why are you buying recreational drugs from someone who wears a burlap sack on his head and calls himself "the Scarecrow"? I'm with Crane on this one. Chechen really should've done a lot more market research.
Dealer: These tangerines are rotten Scarecrow: You don’t like my tangerines, then you can buy them from someone else, assuming that the Batman hasn’t eaten them all
The one thing that always gets me about this scene is how casual everyone is about how at 1:02 one of the fake batmen just...threw a dude off the ramp? Like I get there are a bunch of fake batmen and the mob/scarecrow are probably fixated on identifying the right one and/or in panic mode when they're realizing what's about to happen but like...they really just let some dude in a costume stroll through and throw one of their guys (who seemingly didn't even try to fight back) off a parking garage ramp.
I love how when the fakes are shooting up the mobsters there isn’t any music and the theme isn’t heard in the soundtrack until the real Batman shows up. It sort of reminds me of the scene in Jaws when the little kids are pretending to be the shark. They purposely left out the theme because it was a clever way of hinting to the audience early on that something was off about the scene.
I was like "What? Thats the best entrance Batman? Shame." But when the theme didn't kick in and he drew his gun, I then knew he's not the real batman! Caught me off guard when I first saw that moment. :)
3:04 In fact, you may not know this because Batman just passed it on as a joke, but Brian's line "what's the difference between you and me" has a huge impact on Batman's identity. In other words, he and Brian are just vigilantes.
Anyone who compares Bale's Batman to every other Batman should apologize. Bale is the only Capped Crusader, Gotham's Watchful Protector, The Dark Knight and the Only Batman. No one else.
