People become even more obsessed with a celebrity if they DON'T like them. It's so weird. I just avoid the ones I don't like but other people just criticize and criticize and then tell them to shut up and stop crying, because apparently part of their job is to be put in a fish bowl and abused.
I think it’s because they’re in the public eye. Obviously we should never harass or bully someone, but when it’s a politician for example, I think we can recognise “uh oh. That person is making my world a worse place to live in.” So I can understand why people can feel a strong dislike for someone they see is a negative influence. But definitely 100% there’s no need to harass or whatever else. Plus what good does that do? If the person is genuinely harmful, best thing to do is help others understand why they shouldn’t be influenced by that person
By the very definition of a celebrity they are asking to be celebrated. It's a social privilege - like it's their birthday every day, and at the expense of any 'regular' person's. It feels incredibly wayward when someone like Amber Heard or R Kelly demands that privilege in light of their provable behaviours.
Nobody needs to like celebrities, but nobody should be that harsh on a human. I understand people who are not fans of certain people but it does not mean that it is alright to say harsh things about a person on the internet or in an article, everyone is just a human
I agree. And while, I find Rita Ora somewhat hypocritical as she’s seemingly at every celebrity party and knows how to play the game of celebrity well. Those opinions still doesn’t give me any right to hate on her.
To play devil's advocate though, these are extremely privileged individuals. If being called names by a few people online is the worst of their troubles then they're still doing better off than most.

If you're good at something and that puts you in a public arena, I don't think that's an excuse for the media or public to intrude into your life. Imagine not following your dream because it might expose a family member to tabloid abuse or trolling. Let people do what they're good at and leave it at that.
The Caroline flack example isn't very fitting as she received backlash over domestic violence, it wasn't simply because she was dating about. She did get hassle with Harry styles but that was years prior
The problem Flack had was her arrest and pending prosecution for dom v how did the press make her smash a lamp over her bfs head while he was asleep in bed?
Context is everything. She had no previous convictions for violence. The bf had a 0.5cm cut in his hairline. The blood "everywhere" on scene was Caroline's: she self harmed straight after doing it. She had a long history of anxiety, depression, self harm & suicidal thoughts. Her mother & sister both stated that since childhood, Caroline had been "fascinated by suicide" & struggled with clinical depression. Her bf did not want to prosecute but Police wanted to make an example of her . Violence isn't acceptable , but this was clearly someone in very poor mental health.

Him not wanting to prosecute isn't unusual with victims of DV/DA, this wasn't the first instance in this relationship and no they didn't want to proceed to make an example. She committed a crime and they had enough evidence to proceed. All the excuses that get put out there for Flack are just disgusting, switch the genders and there'd be non of it in fact there isn't for Chris Brown. If Flacks partner had a history of DV and went through her phone in the night and while she was asleep in bed he smashed a lamp over her head and smashed the whole place up there'd be upraw and his mom came out and said he has always had mental health probs etc everyone would say that's no excuse etc etc.
Coming from a woman who celebrated her birthday with a party with friends in lockdown - when everyone else was having to isolate and was trying to protect their loved ones. No, I can't understand, I'm not a celebrity who does what they like, when they like.

What a weird take from this? There are plenty of men who have been charged of a lot worse DV/SA cases (in most cases not even charged tbf) and still have full length successful careers afterwards so your point is very invalid.

There can’t be an equality when celebrity comes with influence. That’s why celebs get hate because they have influence. And with influence comes the other side. Now I’m not saying it’s ‘fair’ but if celebrities weren’t so involved in themselves it wouldn’t matter who’s chatting cause they’d be thriving. Why don’t we hear Beyoncé, Madonna, Kylie having these type of pity parties? Proper stars who’s lives revolve around a career in entertainment. Because they’re thriving, know how to play the game. It’s always people who have sold their souls and don’t get what they think they deserve who whine.

Famous people are just people like anyone else. They have kids, parents , friends and other family members. Bullying someone because you are jealous of them and their success and attractiveness is just sick. The press are supposed to be here to help us look at world events so we can work together to make the planet a better place to live and not tear each other down using some sick stalking and abuse either on social media or in the press. Before anyone thinks of saying something derogatory about a person in the public eye, think about how would you feel in that position and what public abuse does to the family and friends of these people, especially their children and their parents who could be elderly. Have some respect for a fellow human being and if you don’t like a persons work on Tv, in the music business or whatever, go find someone you do like and support them. Go and make your own work and do something you love. Stop hating on someone you don’t know inside and will probably never meet. They’re off doing their thing. We’ve lost celebrities to suicide, drugs, and alcohol. Fame and money is not the end all he all to happiness. Does it solve a plethora of problems? Sure, but they are still human beings with emotions that don’t simply shut off because they reach a certain tax bracket.
Guys do get asked if you've had 100 girlfriends, but guess are supposed to have a higher no to prove their worthy of oven a girl whereas girls are supposed to have standards to say no & only to fir a guy they want, not just accepting anyone

Exactly. Unfortunately it's part and parcel of being famous and in the public eye, they are inevitably going to get hate, that's part of what they sign up for. If it affects their mental health that much they can walk away, but the majority of them won't as they are addicted to the fame. I find it hard to have too much sympathy for celebs.

My argument is still valid and sound. If you want to be famous, don't complain when you are famous. There is a solution: stop standing in the spotlight. Many famous people have done it. I agree we should treat each other better and better though.
It's like being a cop in the sense that you can quit that job at any time. It obviously causes less direct damage, if any at all (some celebrities certainly do some damage). But I will never feel too sorry for these people. If it's so hard, then stop and do what we do.

Both sexes should choose more carefully who they sleep with. It’s simply inhumane to take something that intimate and do it with just anybody. However, I don’t think just anybody has the right to judge.
„Inhuman“ is the wrong word for that, it is actually very normal and „human“ to mate with many and different partners, it is even biologically right to do so.
I mean… everyone to some extent is judged for their past(s). Having a lot of boyfriends or girlfriends isn’t desirable for anyone as a long term partner. For some fun and maybe a short but intense fling… absolutely. But I think it’s fair to say that the majority of people don’t want a partner (male or female) that has a lengthy sexual history. I don’t think it’s insecurity, I don’t think it’s a toxic male or female trait, I think it just boils down to the more people you have been with, the less ‘special’ you seem. I don’t think that’s a male or female thing specifically. I’ve seen both sexes judged and somewhat pay for their past decisions as they’ve become older and want to settle down…

well men don't use their "relationships" as a way to get more media attention. for example Taylor swift starts relationships an some last just days or weeks to push new songs/albums.... women tend do use their "relationships" most of them fake or short lived because their in the relationships for the wrong reasons... men just have relationships an don't talk about it... woman use relationships as a tool/stepping stone for their career and encurrage the questions... then moan about it lol

However, I think that your assumption that any woman could get hundreds of boyfriends whereas a man must struggle to get a girlfriend is an enormous exaggeration stemming from your ignorance of how the other sex actually lives. Both attractive men and attractive women receive lots of attention whereas average men and average women face scrutiny and frequent rejection on dating sites just as with in person flirting. I also believe that the differences themselves are exaggerated. The rates of men and women who report that they date frequently, sleep with multiple partners, or have causal relationships is evening out more every year which speaks to the cultural aspects of the differences. Additionally, if your “good reasons” include moral reasons then it applies equally to men and women. Whether it is immoral or morally acceptable for a person to have sex frequently, that morality would be on both men and women and yet the stigma is clearly unevenly resting on women.
