To be honest I really thank my grandfather for every advice. He told us we should never seek greener pastures outside home.every house has problems that won't be shared publicly
We need a minimum wage in Africa ..its leaders are allowing foreign companies to exploit it its ppl and resources..its not right, and none of our African leaders seems to care about the sharing of Africa's wealth.and the plight of its ppl...Minimum wage now.!
1.Make contact with your embassy if you plan to stay for an extended period in any foreign country. 2.have a plan B incase your initial plans to stay in the new country does not work out. 3. Always have some extra cash on you. 4. Do your research before relocating or visiting any country. 5. Keep in touch with home incase you get into trouble and need to reach out to someone. 6. Find a community, in the new country, especially a faith based one. 7. Pray hard!
If you think that your country is bad Stick to the bad that you know. Do not blindfold your eyes and travel to the unknown my brothers and sisters.❤️🇯🇲
I was pushing my son to travel to Dubai. After watching this video, the discrimination let me help him while he is here. Thank you for the insight. It's a very sad state for Africans to make life better home.
This is a brilliant documentary underlining the struggles of people who come here to start life anew only to realize they’ve been taken advantage of. I’ve lived in Dubai for 10 years now and it’s by far the unhappiest 10 years of my life. I feel for these people and my warmest wishes and regards to them. To the maker of the documentary, or anyone that has a hand in these peoples lives, I suggest starting a fund raiser for them. I for one would definitely donate. If there’s anyone struggling in Dubai, I understand your struggle. Don’t give in. I wish you a happier, more serene & prosperous life despite the odds that are stacked against you, I pray you push through and come out stronger on the other side. All my love and good energy your way.

No matter how much you try to educate people about the dangers ahead of them in seeking green pastures, they will never listen they will think that you are trying to discourage them.
Exactly..If someone there.. a Local does not like you ..they will make a Story call the Police and you will be Locked Up in their Medieval Prison ..you cannot get Out of... because you have no money...That's The Real Dubai..I will never step foot ..there...ever...
C'mon, let's not blame a country for the foolishness of our brother's and sisters. Dubai is a beautiful country. I go there for tourism. I saw Africans begging, being truants at the Airports. Thier wrong decisions doesn't make the country bad at all. It's our people that should learn to be contented and look before they leap
😢Where is SHAKA ZULU when You Need Him?. Africans..Quit being a bunch of begging. Kissing white man's Ass. Get some BALLS & Kick Them OUT!!. Chinese Too. You couldn't go to that Country & try to Take Over. Africa us The Black Man's GIFT From GOD. How ungrateful & disrespectful To OUR Creator
@@mariamabusela3145 The West African diaspora when they travel home is to show how "successful" you have become. Rarely do they say they are working several jobs and living in a small damp flat. Others post images of themselves in facebook enjoying their lives in the West. This only reinforces the need to leave by any means even if results in their deaths!
I am an old man living in Sweden. In recent years, we have received many refugees who were looking for a better life, and we feel our human responsibility and try to give them a good, bright future. I myself depend on social services and many of those who work in social services and many other professions are immigrants from many countries, including from Africa and Asia. No one here needs to be homeless and poor. In Sweden, we think that countries that have a lot of poor and homeless people really should be ashamed. The improbably rich Dubai should really do something about its shameful situation! Greetings from SwedenI
So you depend on social services and even encourage people from outside to come and use these services as well. Ever though about those who work hard every day to fund these services with their taxes?
You should see how America treats people. They men & women who went to war for this country are homeless and America doesn’t care so if your from another country don’t think the grass is greener here cause they don’t even take care of their own people why would they take care of you. I hate America and I was born here and I’m white.
After watching this video all my desire to work abroad has vanished !!! I rather struggle in my own country than end up in situations like this!!! As for these our brother's and sister's, may God send them help as soon as possible!!!
As rich as Dubai is,they have no system to assist their poor....such as federal social security or public welfare...something...this has changed my mind about Dubai..videos shown abroad always show the glamour and wealth topped with ritzy buildings....but the reality is it’s a living hell

You haven't heard what your countrymen go through too. Am in Kuwait rn, one Filipino lady was run over and deleted by a 17yr old Kuwaiti boy with bought citizenship from turkey. He got just 15yr in prison and he won't spend it there
Sad, makes me appreciate my country South Africa more for fighting for a change and betterment of the country rather than running away to other countries
Tere is nothing there is to appreciate about South Africa, cause here too things are worse. There's high unemployment, more homeless, prostitution, corruption, poverty and crime rates just like other parts of the world... the list is very long. There's no change or betterment I see. Things are very bad. People go through a lot, obviously you may think they are running away from their countries because you may not know how it's like to be in their shoes. They are only human. I just pray people take documentaries like this very seriously, learn from these people's experience and not fall the trap of go searching for solutions that will end up making their lives more worse. It's better to learn from the experiences of others than being stranded in a foreign country suffering with no way out and to worse.. far away from home.
I’m South African and I will never run away from my beloved 🇿🇦❤️I will stay here and fight for my country for changes. I will rather die and starve in my country ❤
As I watched this video my heart bleeds for their struggles. I've been an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Dubai for almost 20 years - from 1985 to 2006. Dubai was struggling to modernize at that time, but Filipinos were working in a Service Company like restaurants, hotels, and themed park. Hoping that African people could find support from the African government and embassy whenever worse comes to worst. Life is a struggle indeed.

There's no place like home. As Africans we know very well that we're despised but we keep on going back and forth with people who hate us. Unfortunately our governments are just closing their eyes on us. Anyway let's struggle on In our spaces God Hears and Sees. ✌️

That’s absolutely cruel to lie to someone like that… take a fee from someone, with the promise of a job.. and once you arrive .. there is nobody…. You deserve hell if you do that to someone…
It is. It’s for the rich and privileged. If you go there to work you need a work permit and must set up a place to stay on your own or with family or a trusted friend. You cannot drop into any country and expect sanctity and rights to *their country. We need to plan things better and stop expecting other people to take care of our life problems.
Sometimes we don't have to run away from our Country 's if the things bad because the Country you running to we will make you a slave because they knew where you coming from.maybe it's about time to change our leaders in Africa CONTINENT all of our leaders are the same
How can you say this when people are starving in their own countries. These people risk life and limb just to find money to support themselves. It isn't their fault, it's the fault of the leaders in Africa. They are stupid and greedy.
Thank you for sharing the dark side of Dubai. As an Immigrant going to another country is not easy. But everyone is looking for a better life not worse than where you are came from. God be with each and everyone.
We're you can find easy life if you have no stable job, anywhere in this world is difficult, specially if you go to other country and unsure about the job if you can find it or not,but for those local here,I'm very sure that their life is full of success, money is easy for them to fine with the support of their government..
I agree with u if all the issues we Had African was fixed then African people wouldn’t be this desperate to go other countries., idk why African are fighting each other when other country are growing day by day ., nd also we wonder are black peoples are treated bad when African it’s self is desperate for others countries help ., ugh if only African was powerful country I ‘m sure every black person would be respect 🫡
Thank you for making this video. I have already seen documentaries about Lebanon where similar stories do take place (it was more about having their paper taken then forced into modern day slavery and sexual abuse or trafficking). Many people are too ashamed to tell their families back home what is really going on because their families often gave their life savings to send them abroad and because of that they often lie about the conditions they live in and this encourages more people to follow them and move to these foreign countries where things will be worse than at home. As I often heard " at least at home we still have our dignity, our family and friends and a roof over our heads". I really hope they speak up more often about their experiences so that future generations stop falling into these life changing schemes.
People who wish to emigrate to any country should first understand always have a return ticket, to ensure if things seem bleak you can safely go back home and reorganise for the next travel. Don't send money to people you don't know and can't verify their status 2. Always find out from trusted website about bed and breakfast facilities that can cover you for at least 14 days In that time you get to familiarise yourself with the destination. Find hostels or places that give you sleep in exchange for minial work like dishwashing, office cleaning. Don't go away from the comfort of your country no matter how difficult it seems and think it is better in a foreign country. Remember as a foreigner you have to pay for everything until you settle. If you have a short visa, use your time wisely and if you can't extend it in time prepare for departure no shame in that you have tried.
You have really hit the nail on the head. I have been living in this country for a decade. Whenever we try to advise some of them to follow the right channe, they will not listen, but unfortunately, they will let those fake agents hoodwink them and suddently turn around to heap opprobrium on the country instead of those fake agents.
This problem will never end, because of irresponsible people. Even if you tell them stay in your country my friend it fells in death ears. As Haitian American I encourage Africans and Haitians to stop travelling to those countries that don't like black people!!! The insult towards us is disgusting😡!!!🇭🇹🇺🇸
Yes, but, they all hate black people 😢😂. But I agree they should at least try to avoid those who hate us the most (arabs, easter europeans, asians) but I imagine that it is cheaper to go there.
The Middle East has a horrible reputation for treatment of all foreign workers from poor countries. Even other Muslims like Bangladeshi are treated like crap.2 countries even banned their girls from working as maids because so many were abused. Middle East had legal slavery until 1980's in Oman. Muslims think they are superior to others, and the Quran justifies slavery. 6000 poor foreign workers died building the stadiums for world cup in Qatar. These workers could only work, and they slept on the job, Single men were not allowed into the city, or shopping centers where there are women. This culture thinks they have a right to enslave others.
One would have to say this happens with a lot of places, not Dubai only. Similar experiences are shared by Africans coming to Europe or any other place searching for a better life. Of course it can be hard. Especially when you come with the idea that the new place is this Heaven on earth where all is easy and money is thrown at you. This will not happen anywhere, not in Europe not in the US not in Dubai. The sad thing is that people from the very same countries are the ones who paint this wonderful picture and take advantage of their own people. It´s not Arab locals who go to Cameroon or Nigeria and try and bring people to work there. It´s always Africans cheating other Africans for own profit. While it sadly is true that in Dubai salaries are often based on where you are from, the bigger thing is that when you come what kind of skill do you bring? Why would a company hire you. You have to understand that. And I do not mean that from a point of superiority. I know how it is. But you need to realize that if you come as an unskilled person, then what jobs can you possibly get? The job market is full of even very qualified people, who speak many languages who have completed their university studies who have background and work experience of many years. So you are competing with all these people. Be realistic. If you have no special skill, then what can you possibly do that would justify a company paying a high salary to you. It´s like this everywhere in the world. Is it a good system? I agree it is not. But that´s how it works. The best bets without special skills for a female can be to be a cleaning lady, a maid, but all these lower end jobs there is a high chance you will not be treated well. You will work without days off, if you end up in a bad house you might be mistreated or not get paid or in worst cases even be beaten and abused. Of course all this is wrong, but it is the reality. Please open your eyes. However if you are a specialist if you have a new technology for the oil industry for example and you are one of the best in the world in this technology, yes you can get a high paying job in one of the big companies, also as African, and with a salary just as high as Westerners or locals. But you need to offer something that nobody else has. All this manual work there are thousands and thousands of people who come from Africa and Asia and all are competing for these same jobs. They do not have to treat you well or pay you well cause you are interchangeable and there are thousands more waiting to take the same job for even lower payment. I know it´s not nice to hear but thats how it is. Everywhere. If you go anywhere in the world I can only recommend to go with a plan, have an education, have a skill, build yourself up first. Go from a position of strength, not from weakness. Go towards something, not running away from where you think it´s hard. Be an expert, a specialist in one field. You need to have something that is needed. The more unique the better. It does not only need to be academics. Are you good with horses for example? Can you train dogs? Are you a computer geek? You can make much better money if you go into something unique that you are truly good at. If you don´t have that, if you just come without any preparation, hoping for a better life, you will just find hardship and more difficulties than back at home. Please don´t give me negative replies, I mean well with what I am saying.
That is d Realistic truth ( pure truth). Life without understanding and wisdom is really frustration. Everything u said here is d Gospel truth. Anyone who doesn't understand this life wil really b frustrated ee! Until he or she get sense to know, bliv and face d reality of life.

I felt sad when I saw this video. I think documentaries like this should also be shown on National Televisions, so that everyone is aware of the realities in Countries like these. Hopefully it will prompt our Governments to act and support our bothers and Sisters to return back home safely. Furthermore, People should inform their Embassies and explain their situations in case they need help before travelling .Our hearts and prayers are with all of them. ❤
The roots of the problem lies in their own countries that failed to provide them with a livelihood. Changes are needed. You will always be vulnerable in a foreign country unless you are a high Flyer who can come and go on your own terms. Those driven by desperation are vulnerable.
I've gone through this and what I can tell you is that you need to work hard and persevere to achieve your goal. I suffered for 2 years in 1 of the gulf county but once I knew how things work and pushing hard to get a job, I finally nailed it from my first salary of $70 a month after 2 years of surviving and having a meal a day to $3,500 a month. You can make it if you look to life positively and not negatively. I know how they feel and this video brought all that I went through in the gulf. I feel sorry for these guys really. Believe in God and yourself and you will make it.
My sister traveled to Dubai, and shared how beautiful it was. Jesus was hated so are we. Dubai has to answer to the Highest God. Prayers for our people. Amen 💕✌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
If our leaders in Africa are not answering to highest God what makes you think an Arab God will make them answer. We don’t hold our leaders accountable yet we expect other countries to treat us like human beings. That’s rather absurd.

I would love to see more of these videos on the poor in Dubai. Very informative.I come from a family of musicians so we've traveled extensively with New Orleans being my favorite place to work in. One of my brothers says he would love to visit Dubai one day and like I tell him, every place has their parts they don't want tourists to see. Thank you for posting, I liked and shared.
When she landed at the airport realizing that she has been scammed why didn’t she go back home or tell the authorities at the airport what has happened? I don’t think there is any country that wants to have illegal immigrants roaming around it is always better to send them home as soon as they touch the ground. I would never put myself to such agony I would go back home.
am asking the same question too why didnt she go back to seek the help of an official at the airport..and also the fact she is going as a visitor wouldn't she have a return ticket? am finding it hard to believe this story.
My dear ,she hasn’t been to abroad before and she already has this soft visualization of abroad as where you enjoy and pluck money from trees .What do you expect ??
I'm from the Caribbean and Dubai would be the last place I would look at as being the land of opportunity, America maybe but Dubai always seems to be a place you'd just go too for a vacation if u can afford it... Wish they can find a country that cost of living isn't so high, it really is heartbreaking to watch the hardships people go through and I hope one day they'll come out of it....
Also, it's important for us to learn to make contact with our various embassies. Inform them that you are coming and your reasons for coming to a specific country . Then they know to look for your at the hotel you should be booking into. If things go wrong, at least they know you there and maybe able to arrange transport for you to go back to your home country.
@Blaque Rose That's not the role of the embassy. No embassy has a responsibility to look for people in hotels who went voluntarily in a foreign country. These people are being scammed by travel agencies and are not ill treated in Dubai
I'm from south Asia and everything is true about this video. Dubai is nothing but meaningless luxury. Human trafficking and modern slavery is so relevant there it's sickening. So many brothers and sisters around the world go and suffer their whole life living in those fucked up conditions. They don't take care of the people who build those skyscrapers . It's so harsh. I hope this video gets viral and people sae this bitter and dark truth of Dubai. Thank you.
So sad for me to watch this clip, but very educating. Thank you and may God bless you all. It is better to be poor in your own country than being poor in foreign countries.
I'm black American of Haitian descent. I noticed that when I was in Dubai for vacation when I went to the mall there, there was always a black man dressed like a butler opening the door for visitors. I started going to the mall every day at different times to see if they had different races dressed uup as a servant/butler/door opener and always black. Left a bad feeling with me. They purposely do this to blacks so we're forced to be prostitutes, beggers, slaves etc.
She definitely got a return ticket? How do you know that? Maybe you can ask the person who made this video if you could help buy Norah a ticket back home. Things can usually be way more complicated than they seem in a short documentary
She clearly said her visa expired already and in Dubai when you're visa is not renewed, you fall in overstay and because of that to leave the country, there's some big amount of money that need to pay or you go to jail. That’s why she said , she's waiting for amnesty ; which is giving at certain time by the king for those who overstayed so they can go back home. That's the only chance, she has.
Just to second my Margaret’s initial comment ~ normally when u travel to Dubai; u cannot board frm your country without a return ticket. It is normally a must hv unless her agent fooled her on that too 😢
Africans has lot of land, so grow some vegetables and find a way to live with your family ...nothing like your own family. The world is changing and you find no people who will care for you.
A lot of people are being abused ,rapped and killed by Arabs in Dubai it’s so sad a lot of ladies from Kenya was killed in Dubai and Other Arabs countries please do not go there it’s horrible

Dubai is a joke,if you are of western of Europe, then life is great,if you are black especially from Sub Saharan Africa, then you are seen as a slave to only serve it Iis just a dust bowl of sand
Welldone my brother! Absolutely brilliant documentary. This will save a lot of people who are unaware of this situation. Welldone to you and your team 👏👏👏
Our first problem as Africans. Let’s stay home we’re we are, in Africa than being slaves in another country. Obviously Dubai is for the rich, it’s a business City. You can’t expect to go and be a beggar in Dubai
Thank you for sharing the harsh realities of life in Dubai for immigrants! We don't know the stories of Dubai citizens because the leaders there sugar-coat life in the desert land!! What is being experienced by Nora and others like her is known as the time of Jacob's trouble and it is real (Jeremiah 30:7-17). Only TMH can deliver His people but we've got to PRAY, want to be delivered and call out to Him!! Our people's redemption is near because TMH's anger towards His people will not last forever! It's sad, however, that our people have fallen for the 'mirage' of this desert wasteland (covered over to appear as an oasis). Wake up, my people before it's too late!! Come out of her before the destruction starts!!🙏🏿🖤💯
You are so right on point. The Holy Scripture says that only Y'AH THE HIGH MOST GOD will REDEEM HIS CHOSEN people and if HIS CHOSEN who called by HIS name will humble themselves and pray then HE will heal the land. We just got to remember that we flying around the globe trying to find acceptance from these other nations who have a perpetual hatred for real chosen people of Y'AH THE HIGH MOST GOD.
Fact is, they’re neither migrants nor asylum seekers. They are illegal migrants and those kinds of migrants are not well off in any country. This has nothing to do with sugarcoating but with breaking the migration rules of the country you move to and closing the doors on every opportunity you might have had as a legal migrant. The dark sides of Dubai or any other country for illegal migrants is no secret. Let’s not forget how many froze to death on the Belarusian/ Polnisch border just a year or two ago.
I would have seen this before coming to Dubai. Me and my husband were well educated but still suffering alot…I could imagine the struggle of daily labour
my childhood friend's daughter is in from Ireland did work as waitress in Dubai later as manager... but she was not orphan, educated, supported by parents & boyfriend. They rented just 1 room in big house with other immigrants from same country and we're safe & well coz did look for job & housing before arriving through friends not agencies.
Because she is from Ireland and she is respected too because she is from Europe . Traveling abroad without proper arrangement is second slavery because you will use your own hard earned money to buy your own slavery ticket .
Honestly guys, some of us only hear of this sad Dubai experience through social media and are shocked as we never encountered such. I personally have been here since 2015 and sometimes pass though Union Metro when going to the salon somewhere around there and have never really noticed this thou l do see a lot of people around there but l’ll be just passing by and not really minding my surroundings
My heart breaks for these beautiful people. No one deserves to live like this. I pray to Allah to help you and get you out of this situation. Shame on all the muslim leaders who have not come to help you 😢😢😢but know that Allah sees all and you will get your justice on the day of judgement 😞
I am an elderly white woman living in the United States. My only income is social security. If Nora would like to come to the United States or go back to Cameron, I will do my best to help her. Everyone has value and she is such a beautiful person. She just not deserve this. No one does
Imagine going to Dubai as a young beautiful African woman to be a slave on the street of these people who don’t even buy toilet paper .Love yourselves Africans please 🙏 😢😢😢😢😢😢
The issue we never work as a team like the Asians, Europeans etc We are always busy fighting and envying each other. I live in the UK and work with many Africans who don’t want good for each other. They’d rather lick white peoples asses and put their fellow black down. I always try and reason with them that we should support each other but it never happens and blacks don’t get promoted unfortunately. Then start complaining whites are racist! Errm, how can a black get promoted when a fellow blacks go and bitch about them to management to so they can be hated
We're blessed with a wealth of natural resources but our politicians are mostly interested in raping Africa & stashing the cash in offshore accounts. It's sickening!
I'm a pilipino(from Philippines). Alot of African people r investing in education here, to study first, step by step. Then it works, they r doing well here. Just Do not be bad. No ilegal or bad activities in any country. Always Legal, for a long run and for a better life.
Sadly, these agents are unscrupulous Africans take advantage of poor and vulnerable Africans. Africa is a potentially wealthy continent unfortunately is governed by heartless and self-aggrandizing crooks. Worse, these Muslim countries such as Dubai don't love Black people.
Thank you for the video! This is so utterly sad, to see people trapped in this overrated international city. My heart goes out to these victims who are forced to live in terrible conditions with no hope of returning home. I am an international English teacher and I have taught in 7 countries over the past 24 years. So many people used to tell me to go to Dubai to teach, I am so glad it never worked out. I even made so many applications but nothing worked out, I am so happy that nothing worked out. I can only pray for these people that one day, somehow things will get better for them. This is indeed heartbreaking! I wish something could be done on a global scale to address this issue and bring some justice for these individuals.
There are apparently 2 main groups of people in Dubai: The extremely wealthy and the poor. The wealthy and wealthy travelers are most of the population.
It was soooooo hard to watch this 😢 even though I am an African American I see how hard is because of my skin color in America I feel awful for what they face. The scams. The unjust. The crooked and wrong. When will we realize that we are all one. If you are making it someone else is suffering. I can't feel good about any of it because it feels wrong that people just want to survive but others are out here who can help but do nothing. I'm committed to making a change Dubai you will be seeing me in your near future and I will be traveling with change. This world has got to do better ❤
Yet they come to America and judge and hate us and side with the racist white people who are against us. They are getting what they deserve for the hate they put out on us in America. When they come here they don’t care to take our jobs and do better then us and say don’t be around us we are the bad people and whites are good.
I am sorry to hear your stories. Maybe some of other expats experience the same. That's why me and my wife treat all expats very nicely because we don't know what each one is experiencing. Generally Dubai is good.. I always encounter Africans here. One day someone was asking 5aed for his train ticket. He said he was applying for job. I said, ok I will give 10aed. But I loaded his train card with 20aed. He was very happy. I have more stories. Maybe I will interview more Africans here, I encounter daily. My prayers are for you. Just have faith.

Africans don't know, study history!!!! The Arabs ruthlessly participated in the Trans Saharan Slave trade!!! They hate the so called blacks, Africans!!! Even if I am offered the "BURJ KHALIFA" I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO THE ARAB EMIRATES!!!! THEY HAVE KILLED A LOT OF AFRICANS AND HARVESTED, SOLD THEIR ORGANS!!!! THEIR "GULAGS PRISONS" ARE OVERWHELMINGLY AFRICANS AND BLACKS!!! STOP GOING TO YOUR ENEMIES COUNTRIES!
My heart goes out to this beautiful young girl Nora for being scammed with this bright future promise in Dubai, am just wondering what eventually happened with her life.
ALL I HEAR IS WHAT SOMEONE TOLD THEM NO WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FIND OUT SWEETIE IT'S MORE TO LIFE THAN MONEY'S THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS YOUR SOUL HEAVEN IS REAL HELL IS REAL IS WHAT YOU CHOSE
Yea I ‘m sure a lot of African girls in African are being told I will take u Dubai and you will become a bigger model ., but instead they human trafficked them also it’s sad .
You are absolutely right. Dubai has nothing to do with this issue. Our own Africans are jeopardizing their own people and that's exactly what most of us are doing in this country.
There's also this stigma where people like these victims are shamed and mocked if they decide to go back home. Nobody likes to suffer and I believe that's why some can't go back. As an African, I've learned that as a kid. It's stupid and sad at the same time 😢😢
@@NattyByNature-good for you. Stuff is expensive here in America. I’m from here and I get it for when immigrants come here. Jamaica is beautiful and I hope you are happy to be back home.
@@ThePorshaEdmun I know, everywhere is getting expensive now. House prices have gone sky high here because of gentrification. I wasn’t happy at first felt like I made the biggest mistake but now I’m happy with my decision.
