I meant that going uphill is free at most resorts. I'm not sure what you mean by diminishing commodity - nothing about touring is a commodity or diminishing (except your energy). I see this in climbing all the time. As long as you have your spot and can do what you want to do, ppl believe nobody else should be able to do it.

@@campbellwear5238 I would say majority of mountains are like 800-400 for season passes but there are some like Mammoth or Aspen that are over 1000, but those are the fancy resorts that get a lot of attention. Usually the resorts that stay open longer because they get more snow are more expensive. But there are a lot of smaller resorts that are around 400. And even cheaper in cases for example some resorts have passed that are $300 but say you can only come on weekdays, stuff like that, so I guess it’s a large range of prices to be honest.

Not to mention classes, the time it takes to get one run. Are you gonna get a sled as well? The amount of work going into it instead of the convenience of lifts. You might save ~$250 a year doing this and get about 1/4 of the laps.

Avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel costs 500$. Then you have to pay for the avalanche classes and spend the time to do them. Then touring bindings and skis costs like 500 more minimum than regular bindings and skis. Then theres your climbing skins which can cost over 100$. You can't always ski everywhere you need to wait for the snowpack to be in shape. You have no avy control and you're pretty on your own if you fuck up or get buried. Also resort skiing probably nets you more vertical in a day then you can get touring in a season. Tourings cool but theres a reason why resorts exist.
