Only if you believe Disney's original Sleeping Beauty was a lie (Aurora's parents both alive at the end) and the Maleficent movie(s) are the true tale (Aurora's parents are both dead at the end). Even in the Maleficent movies, Maleficent did more evil (cursing a baby, terrorizing/bullying 3 fairies for fun, stalking her ex's daughter "in the shadows, not telling Aurora the truth, putting Aurora in a coma, kidnapping Prince Phillip instead of asking for his help, etc etc) than good.
She was so totally perfect. She played the role so well, the 2D Maleficent we all knew and hated became a 3D complex villain we all came to love. It is a story of her being a hero to a villain to her redemption, the Maleficent movie... 10/10 storytelling.
@@That80sGuy1972 - Angelina did look great as Maleficent, but there was no redemption. If I deliberately drowned you until you stopped breathing, but then used CPR on you to get you breathing again that doesn't make me a hero, but you might file assault or attempted murder charges on me if I did that. After King Stefan cut off her wings Maleficent went crazy and at best only solved problems she caused and at worse was reckless. Her true test for redemption was when King Stefan was falling to his death. Aurora didn't want her father dead and Maleficent could have used her wings and/or powerful magic to save him, but she didn't care what Aurora wanted and only her revenge was important to her. I could elaborate on several other evil and selfish things she did throughout the movie, but anyone who watches it closer can see it themselves if they look.
@@PyroDrew Humans were the scumbags of that movie, Maleficent reacted to the extreme but understandable. She grew to see the positive in the "vile humans" by watching that one child. She was the guardian of the fey folk, or a guardian, who trusted a human ^sshat who betrayed her for his own lust for power, wealth, and glory. She would have been in the right if she exterminated the "human infestation" adjacent to her kingdom and kept that kingdom dark and bitter... as the villain and leader. She did redeem herself by making peace, a peace the humans did not deserve. If you drowned me because I attacked you then revived me with CPR, I would have buried the hatchet with you... seeing you in a different light as you had a chance to kill me in defense of my attacking you but then you jumped up to the high road. I'd be grateful you did not give me the death I earned at that point.
Except Maleficent, the fairy, caused several individuals emotional pain by casting Aurora's coma curse, directly attacked and later bullied the 3 weaker pixie fairies and deliberately kidnapped Phillip against his will... among other things. And the soldiers she unnecessarily killed probably felt physical pain too. But yeah, no demons caused pain... probably because there were no demons in these movies.
Maleficent is probably my favorite Disney live-action movie. It's just good and can stand on its own even if you remove the fact that it's a twist of Sleeping Beauty.
There were also other errors in her story telling. One of them: Maleficent didn't meet Aurora when Aurora was five. Maleficent met Aurora when Aurora was a baby.
Like all of us, Maleficent is neither good or evil. Maleficent represents a strength we all have within us that can be used for either side. The point worth taking very seriously is Maleficent never gave up, chose to continue to learn and be influenced which made her grow in every way possible. If that's evil, sign me up.
my favorite thing about this movie, more so when they were filming, is that the little girl who was supposed to be aurora didn’t go to jolie cause she looked scary in her costume so her daughter did it cause she wasn’t scared, she knew that was her mom. i think that’s such a precious moment
I hate to tell you this, Sofia Malik. But my great grandmother died in 2005 at the age of 90, and never saw 2014's Maleficent. So, I will never know what she would think.
Oh so that's why Audrey from defendants has a bit bad altitude ? And Mal the daughter of maleficent is good? I don't know but I think maleficent is good
if you read the old sleeping beauty maleficent has always been a fairy there was 13 powerful fairy but fairy can only eat from the golden plate but the king has 12 golden plates so he invite 12 fairy to bless his daughter the 13th being maleficent
But look on the bright side... If Stevan didn’t betray maleficent and win the throne, he wouldn’t have married Aurora’s mom and then aurora/ sleeping beauty/ rose wouldn’t have been born. And maleficent wouldn’t have even met her. If it wasn’t for her curse that she herself broke, she wouldn’t have found her.
I find it hard to sympathize with her because they villainized the good king in the film Maleficent. He was the total opposite of his animated counterpart.
if u read The Land of Stories books, Maleficent(aka Evil Enchantress) was a 5 year old girl named Ezmia, and a man told her she didnt have magic powers , Ezmia burned him with fire, then felt bad about it and started to cry bc she didnt know what to do. The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella found her and tool her back to the fairy world , Ezmia was smart and was going to be head of the Fairy council, but she soon became spoiled and a fairy named, Emerelda, replaced her. Ezmia felt hurt about this and felt betrayed. Sje then became evil and sought revenge on all for doing this. Thats how she became evil in The Land of Stories books
I think we should give maleficent a chance because she been so much through and now she caring about Princess that's big and true love is an even bigger so what do you think if we can if we can trust maleficent give a like if we don't trust maleficent and give a thumbs down
Really , Maleficent has a heart of gold she is very nice , king stefen really has a heart of stone . She does have a tragic past , i feel sorry for her
My friend is so mean she saids that ... Leah: malefacent is mean and ugly Me : no she's not , she is super nice and she is even the reason who save aurora !!! Leah: what ever
Stephan took her wings to save her they were the perfect object to bring the king so he would think she was dead what else was he going to bring her arm, leg, eye, foot you get the point but he has right to at least say something like I did it to protect you darling or something like that.
Correction:Stefan didn't steal Maleficent's wings... Maleficent defeated the king in the battle.. The king ordered to avenge him so that someone could take the throne by someone who will avenge him:The king asked stefan to kill maleficent but stefan can't do it because he still loves her or care about her tho...(I don't know) Instead, stefan took Maleficent's wings so that everyone believe that maleficent was already dead.. But then that went wrong...
Thank you so much for this video! I was going to watch Maleficent 2, but I didn't watch Maleficent 1 so I had to catch up. I searched up videos and I found yours! Once again, thank you.
The only thing I didn’t like about this was that it made it seem like Maleficent was wrong in loving Stefan, like she made a mistake by loving him. That was not the case. She did nothing wrong, he was completely at fault. She trusted him and he betrayed her. I don’t think we should say that she “loved the wrong person”, it makes it seem like she set herself up for betrayal, which is not the case.
@Trevon Taylor Nope.its from a different story.in this malefic she has open hair in that she has Covered Hair.in this she has wings.in that she didn't get her wings back.
@@princetre2468 Its another spin off... just like 2014 maleficent. The actual ending is from sleeping beauty. Descendants and Maleficent the movie are 2 different timelines. Descendants is based off of sleeping beauty 19something.
