So generically speaking there are basically three types of monsters right? The Real(Frankenstein/Drac/etc) The Imagined(Not really there, hysteria and paranoia causing a person to go mad) The Person(Scream/Psycho/Meyers/etc) How many horror movies have we seen that tackle the idea of a threat that is there, that actually isn't, and we only find out at the end that the person was simply losing their mind?

Is there any established continuity between The Mummy and The Invisible Man? Has Henry Jekyll of Prodigium or Tom Cruise appeared in Invisible Man? Did The Invisible Man have a Dark Universe logo? Was Johnny Depp The Invisible Man? If you say no to all the questions, then Dark Universe is still dead and all the movies continuing The Invisible Man continuity is a new franchise completely separate from the Dark Universe.

Actually making Dracula sympathetic is a more interesting angle than the way he's presented in the original novel (where he's more an analogy for the Victorian understanding of 'evil' itself). What sucks is making a Dracula movie like a superhero origin story.

Seems like with all this success, and potential, it might be the right time for universal to produce a new iconic monster to go in and amongst the old pantheon. A new unique creature to compete with the likes of dracula, frankenstein and the creature from the black lagoon. A creature who perhaps stalks cornrows at night, planning devilish trickery? Mayhaps could it be him? Corn of Coblin? Hmmmmmmmm?

Connor notyerbidness I know but what I mean is with the MCU they eventually got around to working other connective plot lines into the movies With DCEU I get more the feeling that while they are making references they’re still gonna keep the story of the films themselves centralized on whatever hero or team is the focus without incorporating past or upcoming movies into the plot

@@DarkKnightofAnime and thats because the MCU started out doing that and became more connected partly cuz everytime there was a huge problem people asked "why didnt they call the other avengers?" But that didnt start until after avengers 1. Vs the DCEU started out being more interested in telling stories they planned on doing 2-3 years later rather than focus on the movie at hand (seriously how much of BvS was trying to set up the justice league sequels we will never get? The answer is A LOT)

It’s odd, cause in the Frankenstein book, the monster is described as being beautiful- perfect even (aside from his eyes which turn his entire demeanour horrific), but film adaptations have also made him dopey and ugly rather than intelligent and handsome. It would be interesting to go right back to these roots and do a faithful adaptation.

I heard somewhere that Tom Cruise's involvement with the narrative was the reason why "The Mummy" failed. He didn't let the director tell the story he wanted and made the movie about him rather than 'The Mummy'.

Hamza Orakzai Sorry to say this, but it would still be the failure of the production team (including the director). Why? Because you don’t hire Tom Cruise if you would have wanted to focus on the mummy! It’s not like Tom Cruise is some unknown nobody and nobody could have foreseen him taking over the movie. If they ever intended some other movie, they really failed through their own choices. Get Tom Cruise and make a Tom Cruise movie or hire somebody else. But don’t blame your choice of actor to somebody else.

Nothing beats the version of Frankenstein and his monster that are in Penny Dreadful, honestly nothing beats the version of any of these monsters that are in Penny Dreadful and the Dark Universe could learn a lot from that series.
