I still put Permission to Land on and play every track ... This is a band that you either get or you don't... no in-betweens here ... I'm a Darkling till death
I remember the first time I ever heard the Darkness. I was in New York City listening to an underground radio station and I heard "a thing called love" and I instantly fell in love with them. I didn't know who it was so I had to call the radio station. once they told me who the band was, I had to wait a few months before their first album came out "Permission to land". bought the album and couldn't believe how old school, how cool their sound was. took a while for me because at first I was not particularly fond of the vocals. but as I listened to more songs. I learned to appreciate them more and more.
chuck jones yeah me too, took me a little while but man, especially when way way ticket to hell and back came out, I loved it so much! Still my fave, Then when they broke up it sucked bad!!! Of course permission to land is amazing too. I also really love Last of our kind. Barbarian & Open Fire are amazing
I have lived in Las Vegas, NV (USA) for 20 years. They had a decent rock station out here until about 10 years ago when they started to play a lot more of the trendy rock / rap type bands. I bought the first darkness cd and loved it because that radio station turned me on to it. Since that time, I have NEVER heard The Darkness in either Nevada or California ever again. So 2 weeks ago, RU-vid plays the Rock & Roll Deserves to die music video for me as a random video and I am overjoyed that I find The Darkness is still around! So I buy the album "Easter is cancelled" which is a freaking AWESOME album and then find out that The Darkness had other albums in between! So now I have purchased all the albums in between the first and the last Darkness cd's. I have not stopped listening to The Darkness exclusively for the last 2 weeks. I f**king LOVE that band.
@@JuiceboxDesmond yep. Komp was such a great station but maybe it's not their fault entirely. I think a lot of music today is just crap. And if all komp did was play music from a decade ago they would be the classic rock station. 😵
I owned the first album and saw them live back in 03 or 04 I think in Providence, RI. Awesome show, but I also didnt know they had released anything in between the newest album and the first. Around the same time you speak of, we lost all the good stations in the North East as well. Glad to see they are still around and I hope they come to CT. Would be awesome

@@mr.logicpants2835 Yeah Ive been checking the new stuff out. I like the songs live better (I always do hehe). They are a good band live, when I saw them back in the day after first album they were tight and I was in disbeleif he could actually do that singing live and the guitar playing was tight with Dual guitar harmonys and what not. I hadnt heard anything like that live in a LONG time it seemed. If they come back around north east (Connecticut plz ;-) id def go see them again. Good times.
Justin looking awesome like Robin Gibb here! I love all the fans in this video...they were so cute and I wish more people were like that here in the states. You could see the dj wth blonde hair getting weak in the knees while Justin sang Love is only a Feeling ...lol she was so adorable ! great job making this quick documentary . My only gripe is I never wanted it to end .
Most American sounding British Rock artist in recent memory! Type of stuff that made Queen so relatable in the US! Freddy was more brit than the brits and more american than the Americans! This is the type of genius they tapped into.
Just saw The Darkness play in Melbourne Australia 3 nights ago. Second time i have seen them fucking epic as always. P.s my ears only just stopped ringing. haha
