In 2003 I saw a band called THE DARKNESS for the first time on a music video TV channel. I said to myself WOW and what the fuck are these guys all about? I immediately researched them and purchased their Debut CD "PERMISSION TO LAND." I very quickly was addicted, listening to it from beginning to end daily. Every song on the album was and still is magic. LOVE THE DARKNESS! Can't believe I just stumbled across this video in 2022?
I'm at the other end, never really knew anything about them alart from the stuff that made it into the charts, went and saw them at the Roundhouse last month thinking it would just be a bit of fun and was absolutely blown away, best band I've ever seen by miles, have immersed myself in their albums and cannot wait to see them again, and again, and again... 🤘
"Wish" they were? As in, a "real" band, as opposed to a piss-take? You have completely missed the point of what Spinal Tap tried to achieve, didn't you?
I remember watching and taping this when it first aired. I can't believe that was 18 years ago now.. Never clocked Justin Hawkins' Stryper t-shirt, back then, either!
I am now 53. in 1977 I had the exact model white Les Paul Justin plays , although according to Premier Guitars, most of their 'Pauls are from 90's & up. Mine was an american made '72. I LOVED it. Answered an ad they wanted a singer and in 1980, being 17 I just let it sit till I sold it Dumbest (or one of the ) move I ever made. Paid 700 Dollars for it and what it would be worth today, let alone touch again...but...I Lost that right. What a guitar. Love the band ...Great Falsetto Justin.
TreeTrout ,I feel ya. When I was 12 my moms boyfriend gave me a vintage 52 telecaster and told me to sell it back to him if I didn't want it. To bad it wasn't a Gibson S.G cause I took it to shop class and cut it up to look like one. Someone stole the hardware and the neck....dag I've never lived that one down. OUCH
