The dawn of passive percussion

Before NOON there was the Slow Normals Crop Circle. I've had this thing for about 2 years but thought it was kinda fiddly and set it aside .. however after recently seeing a video that made it a bit more understandable I've tried playing with it again.
The Pod at lower left (containing Crop Circle and several attenuating and routing utilities) is my passive toolbox. It has no power going to it. Gates from Trigger Riot are going through Rampage to soften their edges a little (raw gates were a little too "clicky" sounding) and then Rampage output is going through Muxlicer which is serving as a sequenced attenuator to vary the strength of the envelopes. This is then sent to Crop Circle, and that's the sound you hear first. Crop Circle plays by itself for a few seconds and then I bring in 2hp Snare and Hat to help out, followed by SV-1 playing acidic bass. Plaits ghostly lead fades in via the Planar joystick. Reverb and slushy delay provided by Typhoon.

Oh yeah!! I just finished watching a documentary about Frank Zappa and it dovetailed beautifully into this funky loopy improv. That joystick looks like it would be an immense amount if fun to use.

I got that stick because it looked fun but I have been on the verge of getting rid of it several times. Only now am I comfortable enough with it to say that it's definitely a keeper. I believe the Planar 2 has the ability to record a few seconds of stick movements, allowing its use as a sequencer / complex LFO. That would be handy.

The Crop Circle is much cheaper ... it's only one channel but as I demonstrated here, if you get fancy with the modulations it will make a wide variety of sounds.

i must say, after watching a few Eurorack Vids of different people. i must say you have an advanced setup...Always admired the Depth of your Modular Setup. Full blown studio with just about everything you need and more.......i wonder how you would enjoy that large Eurorack module the Sinfonion Complex Harmonic CV Processor...i wanna get that....i probably would get and it would be gone in a month or 2 but the experience having one will be awesome...

Yeah I think I went overboard with it and should actually get rid of some stuff because "choice paralysis" makes it daunting to use ... but every time I start planning an overhaul it's like "nope, gotta keep that ... gotta keep that ..." and the handful of modules that I can part with isn't enough to empty a case, so that doesn't solve the clutter problem. It's definitely not the right time for me to even consider new modules. Gotta focus on using what I have. Landscape NOON was the only new thing I bought this year.

@@JoshuaKennedy321 I think a lot of people on facebook marketplace share your same thoughts..... There is a lot of modules, however, for sale. More than I've ever seen before the post after post after post. People are just getting rid of just about all their modules. They've had for many years.... I want to if the module of synthesizer market is kind of slowing down now
