The problem is that the more they show, the more they delay, etc. does not instill confidence that the game actually WILL come out.

The gameplay doesn't look terrible and neither do the graphics, but the vibes are rancid. I have no clue who they fired to go from the first trailer that had a great vibe to this racing car, spa and gym bs.

@@miles3101 IF they have any gameplay to begin with. Their trailers in the past have been called out as being vertical-slices and not actual gameplay. You can see it in a trailer where at a gas station the "player" keeps shooting in the same area instead of going for headshots for accuracy/using less ammo and even continues shooting after the zombie dies. If I were you, when this (somehow) releases, give it a day or two or more for people to figure out wether or not this is actually worth your time and money. Also one thing I'm concerned about if this game DOES come out: what kind of anti-cheat will it use? Or will it be infested with cheaters in about a week of release?

@@hody.8381 isn´t there a real Woodbury near where this game take place so it could be they are using the real world name same as many TV shows does from time to time (when its a small location or a multiple location whit the same name hello Springfield).

That's because you are trying to actually go about developing a game ,versus all the clowns like this who only want to have already developed a game. If you aren't compelled by the process, you can't hope to complete it.

Going to partially disagree here. What you describe sounds like a balancing act, which should be among the last passes done before entering the final QA phase. You need most if not all of the systems to be in place to achieve a decent result for that, since various factors can come into play - weapon damage is dependant on scarcity, not only of the weapons themselves, but also armour, healing or any other misc item, which in turn can be dependant on scale of the world map. This is not even accounting for combat difficulty itself, which is highly dependent on the melee and ranged combat mechanics. If character levelling of some sort is in place (presumably it does, because why else show mister gymbro), we need to have that working to then see if suddenly a maxed out character can solo what 8 fresh characters can't do together. Do you need constant food/water to "level up"? If so, that needs to be working as well. Players presumably can have bases and grow their own food, so we need basebuilding and probably some form of crafting or economy system working. What if we introduce sneaking? Simple AI systems won't work then. The list goes on and on and on. All of these systems intertwine and it's nearly impossible to get it right in a prototyping stage as they simply will not translate properly when you go to the desired scale. That being said, what they have decided to show in their media is highly questionable and their entire public image has been bit of a farce. Their refusal to show large chunks of uninterrupted gameplay that at least looks unscripted makes me think there is a suspicious amount of nothing actually happening during regular gameplay.

@@LeadHeadBOD I wouldn't agree - one of the first things you want to nail down in a game, even if it's not the exact final numbers, is how the game is going to feel to play. Factors like TTK, ammo scarcity, enemy density, combat speed, all of these are things you want figured out before you dive too deep in development. These fundamental mechanics inform everything else your game needs, like abilities/equipment, environments, etc.

I feel like what you're describing even a 14 year old making games on roblox since they where 11 would understand for the most part.

I don't want to sound like a dick. But its clear you are not a dev. The firs thing you would do requires a massive investment, having all the weapons and possible enemies to "check balance" is somewhere halfway if nor further down the development path. That means you have all your controls, your multiplayer, your map creation (even if rudimentary) all that already developed. Basically you just said that you would start by having the game half made. But yea, from my experience, you start dialing the stuff you are mentioning in last. Does not mean they are not idiots who are just peddling AI generated ass. Hell even the NPC interactions in the trailer look like they were just AI generated, with only the face moving.

Lord that video would be two hours or more long. They’ve ripped off so much since the beginning I don’t think people even realize how much has been taken. They’ve done shot for shot trailers ripped from other games, and that’s just the start

The iron sights rifle firing animation looks identical to one of the CoD games, I'm certain of it.

People have been saying they ripped off from RDR2 and GTA trailers here, both in scenes and script. Maybe I'm gonna search for those Rockstar trailers later on and see for myself. I wouldn't be suprised. They only seem to copy. They did it in previous trailers too, with some Call of Duty and The Last of Us, I saw side-by-side comparisons, this isn't just inspiration but blatant stealing. They don't even have original artwork or font, they ripped off The Division, Snow-/Mudrunner and yet again The Last of Us there. I'm sure someone is making a list somewhere. It's so pathetic. Only uneducated people can have faith in this game and trust these thieving, uncreative devs to do a good job. Also "(New) Fortune City" apparently is from State of Decay or something. They can't even come up with original settlement names. But hey, I'm sure it's still gonna be a strong GOTY contender, we're all just baseless haters, am I right?

I have some real life footage of me shooting rifles and pistols using the camera angle at 4:23. I called it the “I love me” camera angle. When I saw this trailer I jokingly said they copied my video.

zombie survival is also a *massive* genre, so I imagine there's a good chunk of free or paid assets out there that work extremely well for that as opposed to creating something like your own roller coaster simulator. Simple idea, tons of advice/other games to learn from, etc.

it's also just really easy to make ai that just runs straight towards the player and then does an attack animation. and if its ai makes it do something stupid it doesn't feel immersion breaking because zombies are stupid

It also helps that you can get any kind of realistic adjacent people, guns, cars and buildings and slap them into the world and it will somewhat fit. There's no need for an imaginative twist on anything.

The Zombies also don’t need to be smart or know how to fight.

@@bepisthescienceman4202 Donkeys and mules are noted for being able to pull carts and wagons. We still have donkey carts here in South Africa. Theyre also good watch animals. Some farmers here keep donkeys or mules because they will without hesitation bite and trample jackals and wild dogs

Look at some of the shots they have ripped off from CoD and Division. They are straight up copies with only minor changes. These guys have no originality at all. I mean jesus, they have a pharmacy in the game called BVS Pharmacy. Wow, so creative. Changed the C to a B and bam. Just blew my mind. It's not just imitation it's the frame by frame copies in trailers and the amount of it showing in the game. They have zero original ideas in here. There isn't one you can point to.

No way all the elements in this game are 1) going to be in there at launch, or even added. Most will be cut because 2) there are way too many interactions and things going on for this game to not have copious amounts of coding issues, bugs, glitches, server lag etc. Think about the Division series and how difficult they had it getting just one or two parts of what this game is trying to accomplish ironed out. Do we even know where weapons comes from? Upgrades? Are there skills? The state this will be in on December 7th is going to be laughable at best. These guys seriously think we are all so stupid to not realize they could not possibly do enough work to make it what it shows to be from their "gameplay" release in February. We will be lucky if we get that and more zombies, with maybe one base and a merchant or two.

It's even funnier when the car in question should have suspension that basically feels like it's made of bricks. 🤣

That makes no sense considering the vast majority of companies use unlisted videos for this reason since running ads harm the natural algorithm play of real videos and the video we're watching is on the IGN channel which doesn't allow you to run ads on as the owner of the video since they're not IGN nor would IGN run a video as ads for another business. Unless you're saying they are too lazy to cut that few seconds out of the trailer that went live on IGN in order to use the exact same mp4 file for an unlisted ad video also. Only a total amateur would run the main video as an ad.

I got the same feeling. They go into way too much detail over things like what exactly you can buy with the coins, but leave out a lot of important info like how the game actually plays. And for being a MMO they sure didn't show that many people on screen at one time.

I also think they are using AI for the NPC voices in this. I also think this is just all prerendered footage like everything else we have seen, but that's me. These guys aren't duping me to spend my money on this hot garbage. Nothing in this feels like it will be in the game either at all or in a form nearly close to what is promised.

It's not an AI voice. It's a crisp corporate voice over. Look at the GTA V trailer which they've clearly emulated. The script was written by non English speakers as they are a foreign company, which sounds unnatrural.
