Everyone here at Ultegacy appreciates all the views this is getting. This is something I wrote back in the fall and is something I’ve wanted to turn into a video for about 4-5 years. This moment is not talked enough about and a lot of people think certain things happen that actually didn’t so I wanted to explain what all really happened including other people’s perspectives at the game. Thank you all again so much, subscribe for more content like this, and check out some of our other videos. -Jordan

I am a cousin on Root and on the back of Charlie Root’s baseball card (the next year) Root said if Babe would of pointed that home run he would have found his ass on on the ground. I believe Root’s statement because Root had a nasty temper and was known as a player you never pissed off!

Lou Gehrig was on deck and he said he did it

Of course TALKING ABOUT IT IS WHAT THOSE WHO LIVE BY THE WORD AND VISUAL STORY HOPE FOR .... the commenter below has it correct. Lou Gehrig confirmed the action was intentional ! The Babe was the best all around player ..... when young he could THROW, CATCH, RUN, HIT ........ as well as PITCH extremely well !

Ruth wouldn't have been talking or pointing at Root. If he had, Root would have stuck one in his ear.

I agree and that is something I have seen a lot in doing research for this video. Many fans who were there believed the same. -Jordan

Sure he would. Put Ruth on base with Gehrig up next ? If anything he would have wanted to strike him out.
@michaelhudson863
@michaelhudson863 2 месяца назад
No he wouldn’t because he wanted to win the game. It was tied, the series was 2-0 Yankees, and Gehrig was on deck. When it was 3-0 the next day, yes, Ruth got beaned in his first at bat. It’s very clear from the video footage that he was pointing and talking- not clear if it was towards the dugout or mound or both

"Ruth did not point at the fence before he swung. If he had made a gesture like that, well, anybody who knows me knows that Ruth would have ended up on his ass." - Charlie Root
@Ultegacy
@Ultegacy 2 месяца назад
@@jeffpapas5562 But you notice when watching the original footage that the gesture he makes is made when Root is faced away from Ruth walking back towards the mound. So Root is one of the last people anyone should trust when it comes to what the gesture was or why it was made. -Jordan

He was telling the Cub bench that it was only two strikes. It's obvious.

There are so many bigger and better accomplishments in baseball. One is Minnesota Twins pitcher Jack Morris pitching a 10 inning 1-0 shuthout against Atlanta to win the 1991 World Series. Ruth hit lots of homers, Jack was the only pitcher who has done what he did.⚾

Regardless, it's not the standing oh so stoic defiant image with the outstretched arm like he's doing geological site surveys for an entire three Mississippi count duration of time all while mad-dawging the pitcher down like we were all led to believe. In reality, it's a half assed flaccid arm shrug followed by an even more wet noodle flailing arm looking snap while looking down at the plate avoiding eye contact like a modern day Millinial with social anxiety. A far cry from the generational handed down myth we all got that of an imposing commanding stare down demeanor of a living legend striking fear into the hearts of opponents and mere mortal men. Proving once again, when it come between fact or legend, print the legend.

714 homers and a lifetime batting average of over .340…. HAPPENED ;) And is a great ‘STORY’ along with his called shot that multiple all time greats ON THE FIELD that day said happened. Stay hating! It’s more fun that way ;)

Never happened, just like Gibson never hit one entirely outside of the original Yankee Stadium, but baseball is all about beliieving lore. Oh, well!

The Home Run happened, as it was shown in video. The question is what was he doing with his hands before the Home Run. The video clearly shows something but that is the true mystery. -Jordan

Babe Ruth never had an X-files episode about him. Josh Gibson did and it was one of the best ever in that series.
