What am I really gonna show up to when I get to the job site as 1st year apprenticeship?
I completed a 5 year United Association Plumbers apprenticeship. So I have been asked by a couple peeps as to "the heck am I gonna do it I don't know anything???" kind of question..So now as a journeyman. What did I do is my answer.

Bro. I love your videos. I can tell you pour your heart and soul into your passions. I fucking threw the plumbing box on the shelf and allowed it collect dust, because I got sick of the trade. But man, you actually make it enjoyable!

Your videos have been a lot of help. I’m currently debating if I should try to join my local 32 plumbing union. (Seattle) I absolutely love plumbing, but had a bad experience being a first year plumber the whole year of 2022 that made me quit. I’m currently working in general maintenance making $31 an hr and know I would take a big pay cut if I join the Union as an apprentice. I mean, I was making $46 last year as a plumber and took a pay cut when I decided to go to GM. So taking another pay cut might hurt me a lot. What do you recommend I do? Thanks in advance!

JOIN THE UNION! Hands down having a plumbers license opens up more doors to not only pay but also opportunity. GM is great we need a lot of people.like that. But you'll look back and say two things "wish I did or glad I did". Your choice. Take the pay cut. You'll be back above 31 in less than 2 years. And Seattle's scale from what I hear is amazeballs soooooo....take out a credit card or personal loan. You can make it work. Thanks for the question. Now go!

just wondering do you do a lot oof centre to centre measurements when you install copper pipe?
@JoonRhee
@JoonRhee Год назад
That's honestly the best way to measure all pipe. That way you can do an accurate cut after you take off your fitting measurements good question!

@@JoonRhee I also had a question regarding slope for drains. How do you determine slope when running the pipe and how would you do it in a work environment.

I have to run a drain pipe like 5' or so and kind of confused on how to make the slope drop with the hangers.

Does licensed plumbers that work at your shop make anything above 40 an hour? It seems around here the max is like 44 an hour
@JoonRhee
@JoonRhee Год назад
Is that not good enough? And yes we do but it's not much more than your max. Unless you go foreman or above that. 44 an hour with overtime still gets you above 90k a year.

I feel like it’s kind of low wage considering the cost of living in ontario is god awful. For an average house here your looking at 700k which is nearly impossible to save for being a plumber 😢

Do you still feel sore or hella tired after a days work?
@JoonRhee

Great questions David! And your body does go through a growth. Depending on how good of shape you are at the moment. I've tried to keep in shape most of my life, but even I'd say you know digging is going to be hard regardless and lifting pipes going to be hard regardless. But you do work through it and I'd say it's probably about 2 years before. You're not really sore anymore but I also do a lot of stretching yoga and I still go to the gym so you got to have a good balance life
