The guy who left the band has a young family and was getting stressed with the touring but he never really left just took time out. She cheated, she stabbed him and he shot her so he's going to get hung for her death. Their stuff is quite black but the best description I've heard of them is, - so a Mormon, an Amish, a hippie Christian and an Orthodox Jewish got together and formed a band in Canada playing American blue grass but hey it works. Glad you did it and enjoyed it, thank you hun.
The banjoist and basest have both stepped out at times and come back. In the video for Boots the original banjo guy shows up at the end playing with the rest of the band. They're good that way with being flexible
I know Colton’s dad, and the game and pressure was getting to him, so he took much needed time off. Nothing wrong with that- much healthier than dealing with stress via drugs and alcohol- which many musicians DO succumb to. So, good on ya, Colton! I’ll see you in San Diego! Looking forward to meeting you and your band mates!!
Check out Steve Martin and the Steel Canyon Rangers "Pretty Little Pne". Its a surprisingly good song with a twist. And yeah, the Steve Martin from the jerk Roxanne and other great films.
I found about these guys being home on lockdown after surgery because of the Covid. Even the live versions are spot on even the whistling. So glad people are discovering them because of “ The Umbrella Academy 2 “ soundtrack. Well earned.
These guys have literally hundreds of millions of views. They are an amalgam of folk, country, bluegrass, and some darker influences. That does not mean they want to kill somebody, they are artists setting a scene. They are brilliant at what they do. cheers from canada.
I.....think I'm in love with you.... LOL... you always seem to be reacting to songs that I am liking at that exact time or reacting to old songs that mean a lot to me.... I love how open you are to any music....
I love these guys. That Bastard Son is just as dark. I was watching Cello solos when this song popped up in my feed a couple of years ago and I messaged to my friends as I was stunned at the sound. If you check out their channel they have a lot of fun,
I'm glad some of ya'll told what this song is about -- I couldn't figure it out. But I like the sound, like their looks, their dance … that ragged sound. For a minute, I thought they were going to break into the Mariner's Revenge!
I didn't listen to folk/blue grass music until i found this group earlier in the year, Glad I did because their albums are 🔥Broken Cowboy is the one for me, how he changes his vocals halfway through is great,
The songs are supposed to have crass lyrics with no morals, that's the "joke" of the band. They aren't serious. It's supposed to just be a sort of outlaw-ish style of music.
She cheated on him, he beat her, she stabbed him, he shot her, they're both going to hell and they'll be in good company together because they still love each other
I love the dead south and I have been listening to their music FOREVER and saw them in concert last year at an outside concert and it was amazing and they actually played this song there, and man when I tell you it was amazing
To those that may not have known it, every place behind them is a place somewhere in the downtown area of Toronto. I have been to pretty much every one of the areas you see behind them in this video heh.
If punk and bluegrass had a love child it would be The Dead South. I like "The Recap" from the same album. If you're looking at Canadian bands check out the Arkells and their songs "Drake's Dad" or "Savannah". If you are looking to cover folk music (The Dead South has a little of that in its blood) give a listen to the late Harry Chapin and "Taxi" or "Cat's in the Cradle". I love hearing your reviews. Keep it up.
Recap, The Manly Way and Down that road is really good too by them. But then again all their songs are great If you haven't, try Paul Cauthen - Holy Ghost Fire and Cocaine Country Dancing. Im in love with his voice. He's got a Johnny Cash/Elvis melding in his vocals thats just so smooth For something more chill but with lots of emotion, Orville Peck - Hope to Die and Dead of Night. He could put me to sleep with those melancholic vocals
I always heard it as a married man who's no longer in love with his wife, and meets a woman who "dead wife is what I told her" as a lie so he could hook it up, then he feels guilty and is convinced he's going to hell for it- but he feels like he's such a piece of shit that he'll fit right in, so "in Hell i'll be in good company"
I'm not sure if this is the type of thing you would be checking into as well... the band(here in tube) is called 2 cello's.. they take songs and make 'em their own... might I strongly suggest they're versions of "smooth criminal" and "thunderstruck"
All Canadian dress like Amish only we call them Hutterites or you know , Mennonites . It's cold in Canada and they share banjos . These are the things I learned by watching Dead South videos
I think that the three rounds are for the woman, her new lover (who might be a friend) and for himself. So a double homicide and a suicide. Once that is done, all three go to hell where they are good company for each other since they are so close.
I'm impressed that you figured out what the song is about on the first viewing. It's a very dark subject but it's also a very good song and performance imo. She stabs him with a brass knife I think they were going at it and they killed each other This band is awesome I’m seeing him in Seattle December 6 Achilles gunslingers glory banjo Odyssey Diamond ring are my favorite songs Can you check out diamond rings video it’s cool but it kind of don’t make sense they’re in the old west and then all of a sudden they’re in the modern time I don’t get it
They will be touring with my favorite band of all time! The Legendary Shack Shakers! Here is a video that explains why one of their most requested songs is so popular. Kentucky Colonel JD Wilkes is the lead singer, author, and artist. Here he is unplugged singing the song "Blood On The Bluegrass". You can RU-vid the album version too. Thanks for an awesome channel! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yQlEFN5Hzmg.html
@@Mk1rceme i call it saskatchebuzz. Or the land that you can watch your dog run away for three days. I have only ever driven through on my way to Alberta.
Love this band! And like me they are Canadian! When I first saw this video at first cause of the finger snapping and knee bobbing I thought it was going to be maybe a comedy thing.......but then I heard the voices and music! They are sarcastic guys so the video plays on being cheesy with an actual great song! For sure they are bluegrass with an edge....sarcastic lyrics, sometimes dark ones. But fact is they are amazing musicians with alot of talent!
I can't tell for sure but I think he is saying did her wrong and she killed him, then the cello player says how he did his girl wrong and she killed him and they both be in hell with his bro...so good company.
I feel like he is madly in love, she is a Hooker, was abused and battered, and he didn't want to comfort. Then he goes home to his red he'd wife, and caught her in bed...... Let me know your own thoughts. I love the song, but........this shit is sooooooo cryptic... Hard to understand.
The guy with the black jacket always seems to have chewing tobacco in his mouth, lol. His lower lip always looks full, I don't know if its actually chewing tobacco or not, I just think its funny, and he still sounds amazing with whatever it is.
Hahaha, she cheated and stabbed him when confronted and he shot her.......yes women can be the crazy one too. Sometimes women initiate the violence my ex tried to stab me in my sleep.
i think i finally get it? she cheated. she was not the angel he thought she was. he killed her. now he knows he is going to hell. she will also be there in hell as a result of her actions. thus they will be together as he wanted from the start. he will be in good company..... with her. what he always wanted. deep, dark, and perhaps i'm wrong?
if you like them you might like Bridge City Sessions ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wNi5X2NUbZ8.html or maeby larkin poe they are awesome too
She cheated. They're both abusive. "Count down three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company" he shot her, her lover, and himself. They're all going to hell
I think he is saying they are both going to hell (in hell I'll be IN good company). It's just a video - don't work so hard on the lyrics. They got in a big fight.
