The whole answer to the fermi paradox being a galaxy level apex predator species that basically farms other civilazations is such an awesome idea by the deadspace creators
Every game that you'll ever play Is a cash grab bud. But personally I think the upgrades are significant enough to warrant buying the remake if you have the money. Especially if you're new to dead space. I put 100 hours into the first one and 50+ into the remake so it's pretty good value honestly
I wouldn't want to play as Ellie. She's a side character. Isaac is a fascinating relatable headcase hero. One of the most interesting protagonists (antagonist maybe) in fiction. Zero interest in Ellie.
@@RandomWandrerI thought it would be cool to play as Ellie but it would suck to basically just be like “I miss Isaac” and Isaac hallucinations cuz we already did that with Isaac and Nicole. Some new characters would be fine and she can pop up again
I remember I got to choose one game from my local game shop, and I bought dead space 2 as a 14 year old thinking it was Mass Effect 2. How wrong I was, but I still enjoyed the game and it really brought me into the whole series.
I have a theory about those baby dolls. I believe that the dolls were practice dolls, on how to properly nurture babies for expecting mothers who are about to have their babies born from the cryo- tubes. There must’ve been a lot of expectant mothers because they are a lot of cryo- babies that attack you throughout the entire game. Edit grammar
Techwraith is right, the babies on the Ishimura were grown to utilize their various body parts as replacement prosthetics for workers on the Ishimura that were injured/maimed while going about their mining duties.
I think the living people in the walls are actually still alive, being kept alive by the necromorph growth possibly as a source of nutrients or biomass to absorb slowly. Also seeing as still being alive is much creepier to me than if there were dead
"Now you might think the Bretheren Moons are Aliens, but no, no. They are much closer to, like, Lovecraftian Beings far outside from our comprehension." -Wendigoon, Local 58 Video Yeah, because its not like Lovecraft literally wrote mostly about Aliens, who explicitly originate 'from the stars'...
That was a wild ride from start to finish. What a great series. And honestly finding out Isaac got easteregged into all of these games is so funny in the saddest possible way. Our guy's just out there living through the necromorph apocalypse and he's hallucinating about playing golf with tiger woods
Its worth mentioning that Dead Space 3 actually got the highest Sales of any Dead Space before, reaching 5 Million, but even that wasnt high enough for EA's impossible standards.
@@joshhohman1250 In NA in the first month it sold less than a million. Sales figures were never released but yea, it was not the highest selling Dead Space game. I believe it was the highest selling only for the first week, then sales dropped. Info seems pretty scattered but there is no 5 million sales listed anywhere.
@@j-dawgdebowshi5324 yeah the original commenter is a retard, Dead Space 3 was SUPPOSED to sell 5 million and it sold less than 1 million making it the worst selling dead space game. He probably a Ds3 fanboy that can't accept that his game was shit
When I first saw/heard the kid in the vending machine I already knew and was honestly heartbroken and also you can go back later in the game and it would have stopped moving hinting he (obviously) died
Considering the timeline of Chief Vincent, having encountered Nicole just before making it to the Marker, and the Kellion's message reaching them at the end, Nicole might have been alive still when the game starts.
Downfall is during the 24 hours it took for everything to go to hell, the same as Extraction. the Kellion arriving another 24 hours or so later. This is pulled from the Wikia tho so may not be entirely accurate.
You know what? That secret shanty song is actually really good…and in some inexplicable way funny and creepy. Like if the marker or lets say the brethren moons knew that Isaac and his team were gonna come to fix the Ishimura and make them hole… I feel some existential crisis vibe in that song.
So was assassin's creed; Hell didn't uncharted 2 win an award or two for its multiplayer? Whats this guy even going on about, half the games he picked has actually decent multiplayer
Then EA didn't even bother to include it in the ME Legendary edition. Literally the last competent gaming publisher to ever succeed. It's mind boggling they haven't gone bankrupt. Guess their pivot to whale farming worked out
I'm kind of surprised that the Callisto protocol was so low in the iceberg I would expect it would have been on the first tier given how it was being made by the original creators of Dead Space but its whatever. :)
It was at the bottom purely because while it is a spiritual successor to Dead Space it’s not technically Dead Space. I did a similar thing in the Battlefield iceberg where I talked about the game World War 3
@@malachihankins9714 the gameplay was lame, the story was such a cheap copy of dead space it was deeply obvious, it even ripped off the Unitologists at the end. It’s not that fun imo
I never realized just how many other games (especially that were sports related, including golf) that Isaac Clarke has actually cameod in until watching this video. Astounding.
Dead Space: Downfall isn't too bad. Clearly a marketing piece meant to supplement the original game and it was never going to be an unusually remarkable gem, but it gives some insight into how the markers and necromorphs work, and plays with the social divisions Unitology has created in the lore (if you've never played the original). There are a couple brutal scenes in it; it's about as bloody as a death-heavy Attack on Titan episode.
Maybe it's a lukewarm take but I feel it's underappreciated. Not like cult classic levels mind you, but like, if they had more time and wasn't just a game tie in, I feel like it would be remembered a lot more. But then again, I hold the movie close lol
@Rex Aura I agree entirely. I played DS2 first and I wasn’t as interested in the first game as I found a silent Issac to sound uninteresting but I feel like it still works really well. Definitely makes me wanna check out the spin offs though.
8:32 you have *NO IDEA* how much I've been suffering these past couple of days trying to make it work on RPCS3. The good news is that now I can finally play Extraction and Severed.
Great iceberg video, man. I've been waiting for someone to make a proper Dead Space iceberg video and you nailed it. A lot of facts here I did not know about at all and the second game is one of my all-time favorites
This iceberg is a sign that I should finally get the remake. Only played the first one years ago, I really liked it. But all the hype for the remake gave me an itch for some dead space content. And thank you for bringing up the army of two Isaac mask and psp unlock. It unlocked a forgotten memory with those games. Another banger video 🔥🔥
Dude. You have very quickly become one of my favorite RU-vidrs. I've been listening to these most nights for months. Thank you for another amazing one. ❤️
Funny enough, I’d say for the multiplayer part; Mass Effect 3 MP after all its updates and free DLC inclusions, was one of the best PVE MP games I’ve played in that time. I still think back on it to a degree.
I really hope we get a new game with the success of the remake. I love this series and the dlc for 3 was such a cliffhanger. Thank you for making these. You’re awesome ❤
I agree, though I'm just really hoping they pretty much scrap most (though not all, the moons and Tau and what not are fine) of 3 and implement the far more interesting and less cancerous dark Isaac, and don't include the wierd cuckoldry plotline some degenerate forced in. That gane had a lot of interesting ideas and potential, violated and ruined by the malignant greed of EA. These remakes may just be the hope for the series to be redeemed and reborn!
I'd rather be Isaac Clarke than those other fellas who got stuck to the wall. Honestly, he's probably the only dude in gaming history to single-handedly make scientology look like a bad joke.
Suppose my word doesn't mean much but a few months ago I saw a video that discussed it. There was going to be a baby necromorph in it but they later decided it'd be more horrifying if they left it up to the person's imagination.
regarding the ' isaac is a murderer ' theory.. i mean, you could argue the dude kinda kills alot of people in 3. unitoligists, mostly. but he also killed the commander dude.
The thing with the baby dolls got me thinking tho...What if the marker made us/Isaac think it was just dolls when its actually real babies, thats why they cry when you stomp them😮
I've always thought that Peng was basically coded sexual innuendo, stemming from some sort of inside joke among the devs that took off in the office and got slipped into the game for laughs. Everything to do with Peng in the game always comes alongside an attractive, shapely woman. The trophy itself, the posters. In the first game in one of the bathrooms, there's the phrase "I give great Peng." written on a bathroom stall. My adult male brain automatically associated that with the phrase "I give great head." lol. I could be totally off base, but even to this day the devs will not explain what Peng means. I just wouldn't be surprised at all if this was some sort of coded sexual innuendo, some sort of inside joke that they could laugh about at the office without winding up on the bad side of H.R. Dudes are gonna be dudes.
I heard peng was a street food vendor right outside the studio, apparently the guy got really close with the game devs during game development and it was an in game homage to him
I remember playing the dead space mobile game when I was young, super fun had a couple kinda creepy moments and I remember being super sad during the ending when Carrie died. First dead space game since my parents never really let me play too many games or have a console. Thanks for the nostalgia
Here's a random crossover you might've missed. Isaac Clarke, along side other EA heroes Morrigan Dragon Age, Commander Shepard and the Army of Two guys appear in MySims SkyHeroes... of all the video games these characters make a cameo in, it's the family friendly dogfighting game part of a spin off of the Sims Faith was gonna be there too, but I guess she wasn't cool enough
This is a good iceberg but there is something that wasn’t on it that I think should’ve been on there. If you look at the backside of the lone survivor skin in the dead space remake. There is a face stitched to the suit with the marker writing on it. If you translate it you find out that for some reason it’s Nicole’s Face. Pretty creepy and messed up to be honest.
Yooo, give me a game where you play as the bio-prosthetic clone of a crewmember. No memories, no knowledge of what's going on, but you have the same DNA as the guy you're meant to produce organs for, so you have access to certain gear and areas of the ship.
Surprised that you didn’t mention how the dead space 1 menu music gets more intense as you keep scrolling through options, or the OG Xbox dead space demo.
32:09 So there *IS* a significance to the pattern of hand prints and shoe prints. I figured there was a reason for that. Later on in the game on the Crew Deck, in one of the Executive Suite rooms, you find another sequence of hand prints and shoe prints on a wall. I assumed there was some reason for the hand/shoe print pattern. I figured it had to mean something.
Who knew Dead Space had so many comics, books and spinoffs games. The All Stars Zeus fight is hilarious. Hopefully a limited series or live action movies are made. Also thank you for making such an in depth video!
And what's insane is that the creators of Dead Space mentioned in Dead Space 4 we would have learned about a third party, something the Brethren Moons were frightened of essentially the Necromorphs were the devil humanity knew.
Dead space is the biggest reason here in germany people dont understand the USK which is the german version of PEGI. They allowed Dead space without any cuts but Blackops 1 had to much gore ? Or Dead island 1. It feelt and still feels like the USK here in germany just rolls a dice and decides that way what to do with the games.
Money in Scandinavia (or at the very least Denmark) is spelled as "Penge" or "Pengar/Penger" (In Norway and Sweden) not "Peng". Peng only refereres to "appealing/attractive woman". Without the e at the end, it has no coronation to money.
Fun fact on The Callisto Protocol, since the game is mentioned. It's still in the PUBG universe, what happens at those prisons in universe are implied to be used for the battle royale death games.
I absolutely want another dead space after the remake, but should it be DS2? I think a spin off story could be cool, maybe an engineer who was at the colony on aegis 7 when they found the marker. Either way more deadspace plz
The first 3 suits you listed from Dead Space 3 that couldn’t be used were all pre order bonuses. I recognized them so I had to download the game to check and sure enough pre order bonus
41:11 Reminds of the only way to get the last skin for Agamo in War of the Monsters, you have to have Twisted Metal Black and beat the story mode of Sweet Tooth to get the SweetBot skin. It is kinda cool, but it is like you said with the extra detail that it's 2 games in different genres and styles.
nicole was one of the first on bye bye herself in the arm, she was found by the crew before the breakout reached is full potencial that why the room was locked (just my teory)
I dont want a remake of 2 or 3. Digital remaster and straight onto Dead Space 4! But not as Ellie. I wouldn't want to play as Ellie. She's a side character. Isaac is a fascinating relatable headcase hero. One of the most interesting protagonists (antagonist maybe) in fiction. Zero interest in playing Ellie.
I might have missed you mention it, but the "twinkle twinkle little star" song is also in Extraction, I can't remember which chapter it is, but I believe it was when you're down in the tunnels or sewer or whatever that area is
I've seen a lot in my years growing up on the internet.... but hearing the kids in the laundry machine (I had young nephews at the time), made me step away from my computer for awhile. It's just odd that *that* small bit unnerved me so much.
I still remember as a kid being surprised you can get an N7 version of isaacs suit in Dead space 3 (that even has a cool description about it). I think all you needed to do was have a mass effect 3 new game+ save file on your platform to access the suit
Ngl. I still would’ve played an ungodly amount of hours of Dead Space 4 if it came out. Like, 3 wasn’t the greatest, the emphasis on action was odd. But I still played quite a bit of it. Definitely over 48 hours worth.
dead space 2 and mass effect 3 multiplayers are legendary, even AC brother hood had its multiplayer people. I was there, the trend was bad but some games deserved their multiplayer
Wasnt Salvage after the first game? Since it suddenly shocked in on the magpies big ship and destroyed it? I recall something along the lines that the shockdrive was acting up and it was popping in and around the system after Issac destroyed the redmarker
Great video! Just finished your Batman iceberg. I know it’s a weird compliment but sometimes I’ll listen to your iceberg videos on the treadmill or when I’m cooking.
I've had people tell me I have "soothing voice" (they're wrong) and they listen to these videos while trying to sleep. Trust me, that's not the weirdest compliment I've recieved lmao
The Goat video in DS1, can be found in the games files... and yes, it's messed up. I found it myself by accident when I was messing around with the game at until now, didn't know what it was.
I know this is a little off topic but there is a Skyrim mod that lets you use shout powers by swearing into the microphone. I didn't know where the idea for it came from but thinking about it it's gotta be dead space.
I know it's a hot topic. But man, I hope the entire series continues getting remakes and they... Retcon and fix 3 entirely. I can see the series actually getting brought alive full throttle that way
Its only hot because of how it would end up. EA destroying the devs over greed, not because they didn't make money but because they didn't make ENOUGH money. killing the narrative in 3 leaving us with trash for almost a decade, only to come back and profit off of the IP a second time (x3 if they do the whole series) and finally giving us DS4 the game everyone would have wanted 10 years ago. (Because they're stupid and were completely wrong the first time) in all timeliness that kind of stupidity runs you out of business. For them to be rewarded multiple times over is just an injustice.
42:28 judging from how they're crying and rattling the machine, i think someone put them in there, and they couldn't get back put. Since the person presumably died, the kid was stuck and died in all likelihood
