@@Pigpen_YT Thanks for responding to me on your Halo Iceberg! I just had one more question: Do you think abandoning the story with the Created and starting a new one about fighting the Banished and their Endless Allies was good? I liked it but getting a new villian every game causes them to all feel kinda under-utilized... oh and lastly, i had a pretty crazy but possible theory for your Fallout iceberg. It involves the Ancient Alien Citys Lorenzo Cabot found in Fallout 4...
Is nobody going to mention that hangar is actually the right word? A hanger is used to hang things while a hangar is used to store vehicles, most commonly planes.
I literally was about to comment that. I'm curious how he managed to mix that up, surely he wrote a script for the vid right? Hangar is right and used correctly but he still got it wrong lol.
@@AC-hj9tv I’m definitely not passionate about people mixing up words, I just thought it was a silly mistake to slip through and was surprised I don’t see anyone else mention it. I don’t hold the mistake against them at all and in fact I actually am far more passionate about people that get needlessly upset at people over spelling mistakes or slipping up in a sentence that would make sense otherwise.
The sign of a quality RU-vidr is having a video about a franchise you care nothing about and still going to listen to them talk about it for half an hour

DICE in 2014: "We aren't really sure about what people really liked about Bad Company, so we won't make a sequel". DICE in 2022: "We aren't really sure about what people really liked about Battlefield 4, but we made a sequel to it anyway".
21:59 interestingly Ex-devs have said they tried pitching a Dinosaur-focused battlefield experience around the BF4 days but it was EA that shot it down
Tbh, and I’m no fan of EA… that is definitely the sort of things devs would lowball their own work hours on, a bunch of dinosaur skellies, skins, AI, etc. The amount of possible reuse would be small.
A small Easter egg from Battlefield Hardline, when playing as the cops on the map Bank Job, there will be a box of donuts on a table near the police spawn. If you spot the box, your player will call it out.
The Elephant gun actually fires bullets and not shells. It's not a shotgun but a hunting rifle because it doesn't fire shot(like 12 gauge or 10 gauge)but instead fires either .700 Nitro Express which is a giant round, .700 NE bullets are larger than .50 BMG but lack in penetration and power in comparison. It is also crazy expensive.
Plus it's called the Elephant because it's used to hunt elephants, what a surprise, and I doubt anybody would willingly go close enough elephant to use a shotgun.
@x_notasweat_x Obviously, but elephants are *really* fast, they average about 10-15 mph while humans only average 8 mph. Whatever distance you had with the shotgun would be fone in seconds. That's why the elephant gun is a *long ranged* rifle.
There's actually a lot of elephant gun rounds and some are measured in Gauge, mostly 4 and 6 gauge but there was someone using a 2 or 3 gauge, it's just a more archaic way of measuring barrel diameter, a lot of them were smoothbore too, pre NATO rounds weren't standardized and had a lot of different variations as people were experimenting, especially during the 1800s where a lot of guns were made by bespoke makers still .700 nitro is actually one of the later rounds developed for elephant hunting
I love that in regards to the Santa skin the main complaint was how ugly and out of place it looked and their response was "Haha don't worry, we're only releasing it at Christmas time, we made it ages ago." Which just raised even more concerns
IMO Battlefield fans seem pretty arbitrary about tone critiques for a game that makes its bones through Looney Tunes-launching ground vehicles into low-flying planes
@MegaZeta it's really simple actually, gameplay can be wacky, story and atmosphere can either lean into a bit of darkness or being kinda cool. Take bad company for example, cool campaign with likeable characters but it was more like a 90s action movie so it got away with it. Battlefield 4 had a darker tone and therefore a darker atmosphere but it came across as a modern action movie aswell so it got some fun moments. 2042 is just a climate collapse and a refugee crisis which isn't really a movie, its just the fuckin news and the characters are making light of it.
@LagsterFragster No, the complaint was about a skin in multiplayer, flippant comments in multiplayer post-game, etc. Again: BF multiplayer got big by bouncing jeeps into planes. Just own it.
I feel like the Battlefield fandom might be entering their "COD Cycle" phase. Anyway from what i've heard Battlefield games are awful at first but get better after some time
@@benno._.72 Yes and no. It had a terrible release but for different reasons than 2042. The problems BF4 had were almost exclusively technical, whie the game itself is stellar and considered by many a pinnacle of FPS shooters. 2042 suffered from a mass decline in quality overall (audio, maps, gunplay, UX, animations) with bugs being a secondary problem.
We need commander roles back like one random player gets the role of commander and gets to set waypoints and tell commands to focus attack on one area or focus defense in an objective, but everyone on the team can see this, but also is able to play the game normally but is able to use the map more strategically
@@BeastlyJew22 that's what they tried to do, but I feel like that's too detached from the game itself, and i can only see that working if your friend invites you to be commander, and it would only work if commander has no offensive attacks because then people are just gonna spam bombs or uav or whatever with no strategy, maybe wait that can be fixed with time limited attacks, but that's boring, I feel like you should earn those attacks by kicking ass. Perhaps not you, but I think that the group of people interested in mobile commanding is a smaller niche group and if that's shown as a main selling point the public wouldn't take it seriously. Your idea isn't bad it's just a balancing act.
I've been playing Hardline for 5 years and I've never found the driveable couch. I've seen other players using it, but I've never had it myself. Also, you don't use the Force to put the AKM mag in. It's the Telekinesis ability, as Hardline was made by the Dead Space developers; Viceral Games.
It’s not to late if you can check out the bad company series for some multiplayer games play battlefield 4 or battle field 1. Awhile back I did find games in battle field 5 but I haven’t played since so im not to sure
Just played some BF4 on PC yesterday and it still was pretty fun, servers aren't entirely populated by tryhard colonel 100 elite battlefield gamers but a pretty even spread of just normal people.
I’m not super surprised that you missed it, as it is extremely obscure among battlefield fans, but the BFV 5v5 mode was meant to be a chance at recreating battlefield incursions, which was meant to be a more competitive alternative game/gamemode to battlefield 1. Battlefield incursions was briefly playable in the battlefield 1 CTE and if I remember correctly it had something like 15-20 classes with small team sizes fighting on a small section of the sinai dessert map. It was a lot of fun but never really took off. They had a second chance at it with battlefield v, but alas, it looks like that’s never gonna happen either.
Battlefield 3: aftershock rings a bell, I believe in the 360 version of battlefield 3 the team behind aftershock are in the credits so it isn’t completely censored by EA
It's sad how Battlefield always got overshadowed by Call Of Duty, even though BF is clearly the superior mainstream shooter. CoD has basically been a reskin this whole time, while BF always feels like a different game. They really went all out with easter eggs that affect actual gameplay and progression. Battlefield was my favorite multiplayer back in High School. I would spend 100s of hours on every game. Hardline will always be my favorite ❤
It's because EA force them to release a game every two years, battlefield would work better if they released one every 5 or 6 years and just kept updating and improving each entry.. but they're too greedy for that
@@lesbianduck7862 COD releases one every year and it seems to get way more attention than Battlefield (though COD has different teams like Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games so in reality, each team gets three years to complete a game)
@@kadenthoreson9915 yeah but how many people actually take COD seriously nowadays, I'd say in the last decade (or at least since BO2) the only game that's been truly loved is Modern Warfare 2019, the rest just seem uninspired and rushed. Plus COD keeps on being played by younger players for the most part I imagine who just buy the most popular game out there..
The Battlefield series really knows how to make good Easter eggs and long puzzles. Another god tier iceberg. Also the gears series is my favorite game series, so I’m hype af to see my favorite iceberg content creator make one. 🔥🔥
I read the Assassin’s Creed books in high school. They were actually pretty good. I went through this phase where I read novelizations of games/movies to see how similar/different they were to each other. Might give the Battlefield ones a try now
@@CDLCinder mate, you really need to play Origins. In my opinion, its the best AC game since 4 or Unity. Odyssey just sucks. I can't put myself to finish it.
@@Zodchi everyone keeps telling me to I skipped out on it bc I didn’t like the RPG-esque route they went but I really liked Valhalla bc I like vikings so maybe I’ll give it a try
@@CDLCinder I feel ya, me being a long time fan of the franchise, it was devastating the route they went for. However, last year I gave Origins a go for the first time and finally completed it early this year. I regret missing out on it, but I'm so glad. Haven't been so into an AC game since Black Flag. Odyssey just feels like a game under the AC title rather than an AC game, and I heard Valhalla was the same 'Assassin's Creed' in title, but nothing about it is "AC". The whole stealth and brotherhood thing I should say.
1:06:03 the revolver was never meant to be obtainable and was purposely out there for leakers/dataminers to find and was out there by a dev who had said leakers are bad for games/ruin games and told leakers to endgame themselves So it was probably out there for that reason
I can kinda understand why EA would say that they don't really know why people liked the Bad Company series. It more of mix signals on the consumer part. I see videos of Bad Company where the characters in it are being comical, yet in recent years players get mad for DICE not sticking to the gritty reality of war. Also the composition of the game in BC2 is vastly different than where the current player base resides. Take for instance: you can be a medic with an lmg or a sniper with a mortar strike calling ability. It seems that Bad Company was more akin to Insurgency Sandstorm but with destruction. The Battlefield that the player base populates the most, BF4, is a vastly different experience than what BC2 offered. I do not know what the answer is because the Battlefields that I played (BF3, BF4, BFH and BF1) seem to be a completely different animal than what the original Battlefields presented. This is not a defense of EA whatsoever, but I can see where they are coming from when it comes to Bad Company. I do not think we'll see a BC3, and not because developers do not want to do it, but because there is so much volatility in the fanbase that they do not want to tarnish Bad Company. I think that if we (we being both corporate and the players) allow the developers some room to be creative, then we could see a BC3. Because right now, developers have corporate riding their asses to make the game trendy while the player base is hanging the developers for not recreating BF4 over and over again.
It's just fans being fans- they don't know what they want, yet they still want it. God forbid if you use logic to argue against them instead of just agreeing with them.
I'll argue that part of BC's appeal is that it could feel gritty, but you still knew you were playing a game meant to be fun. So the humor worked because it was fun, and wouldn't pull you out of the experience. I genuinely think we've forgotten how to actually have fun. BF4 appeals to the player's sense of being a badass soldier, destroying dams and radars just by existing, while still acknowledging that it could be a little goofy, like launching vehicles with C4. Then we got Hardline, which had an identity crisis from the beginning, and then a brutal and "realistic" depiction of World War One, followed by a brutal and "realistic" depiction of WW2, except with goofy things artificially injected when the playerbase was told to expect something else. Then with 2042, they teased us a little, saying "We remember what made you love us; we've gone back to that, we swear
One thing is the characters being Goofy from time to time while mataining the harsh Reality of war during the majority of the time. In bad company being Goofy is a part of their personality and it doesnt seem out of place, they dont say cringy shit in important moments. In 2042 being Goofy is their whole personality, a game where everything should BE a bit more depressing, grittyz you literally fought a battle where people are supposed to kill or BE killer, at the end you get "THAT WAS FUN", "IM NOT OVERCONFIDENT, IM JUST BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE", "THAT WAS SOMETHING RIGHT??". They say This shit when the world they suppose live on is supposed to BE filled With hunger and instability.
I remember when hardline came out and people we're shitting on it. I really loved the multiplayer in that game, it such a shame the game is pretty much dead :(
This was really fun, great video! A couple Battlefield 2-related things you did not mention (there are probably more that others might know of): Crop Circles on Zatar Wetlands: you can find crop circles in the field near a CP named "Farm" Cut Levels: - Hingan Hills: a map tha was cut from BF2 but it's description can still be found in the localization files - Turkish Prison: apparently a map that was meant to appear in the BF2 Special Forces expansion pack (implied by the presence of a skybox texture in the game files - it was probably cut very early on since this is the only reference to it) Cut weapons: - M82A1: the Barret was cut but just like the laser designator below, it can be found in the game files - SIMRAD laser designator: a Special Forces class gadget cut from Battlefield 2 Cut vehicles: - LCAC: this hovercraft was cut from BF2 but was later used in BF3's Rush mode on the Kharg Island map - Harrier jump jet: a vehicle cut from the Armored Fury booster pack for BF2 - Lynx helicopter: another vehicle cut from a booster pack (Euro Force) Cheers! ;D Subbed for more awesome icebergs!
Great video. One correction, at 15:08 you said that BF Hardline was the last battlefield game to have levelution, but there are two (albeit minor) instances of it I can recall from BF1. On Sinai Desert there’s a rock bridge you can destroy, cutting off access to the rocks overlooking objective B, and on Rupture you can destroy the bridge at the center of the map where objective C is. I’m in the middle of watching it though so you might mention this later, but anyways, it’s a really good video so far!
I would also count the final fort on Monte grappa as levolution since the entire top half can be removed by the zeppelins bomb. And I would definitely count the zeppelin crashing as levolution
Battlefield five had minor levelution. Like being able to turn turn entire map into scrap and craters with explosives. Just no big score levelution except maybe the bunker busting in certain maps
A "friend" of mine was a QA tester for 2042 cosmetics. There were countless silly and dumb skins, like all guns and vehicles had a skin that consisted of gold, piano black color and wood. etc
God fucking damn it... I am so fucking tired of skins in gaming. Entire franchises died because of that shit. Every fucking Triple A game is built entirely around selling skins first and being something resembling a game last.
Battlefield 3 aftershock reminds me of call of duty world at war zombies 2 for ios. I've heard no one talking about this game. No joke it's literally shi no numa from the previous game but for less money. If you ever intend on making another call of duty iceberg please include this as it's probably the most unknown call of duty game ever.
Battlefield Heroes was fucking awesome!! So many good memories when I was a kid! I recommend you people to play the community servers, see you on the battlefield!!
1:08:06 Wasnt that a fake? i even checked Frosty and the only yeti clip is marked for MPJourney (golmund) with no refferences to other maps I remember checking this out back in the day
I haven't seen it mentioned in years, so I'll put it here. In the battlefield 4 open beta (pre-patch?), you would discard all of the ammo left in a magazine when you reloaded. No idea if it was a glitch or scraped feature.
@@ryankearney3903 Huh, didn't know that. Always thought it would be a weird bug to have with it having to be specifically designed and coded in, but I guess it could have been pushed to non-hardcore modes on accident.
WW3 is actually lots of fun imo, the TTK is not that high at all. It won't need to kill BF, they killed themselves. It'll be free to play very soon, as long as the publishers don't make them screw any mechanics up, I honestly believe it could be the next big IP, but who knows, we'll see! Great vid!
Battlefield will always be up there due to destruction. I like ww3, but if you don't have destruction... it just ain't the same nor could it be better. At least in my view...
For a game tht released in 2018 and flopped straight away only to be re released and then delayed again after beta I think you are wrong also not on console so yeah it's a shite game prove me wrong 🤣
"We aren't really sure about what people really liked about Bad Company," at this point im convinced its battlefield in general not bad company. shits gone downhill since 4
People want levelution (including me) BUT people don't know how to use it at the right time , it would me your own teammates ruining sneaking or trying to capture a flag even right in the beginning they would waste vehicles just to trigger it What they should bring back is having an ac130 on the middle flag like in bf3 , only flag holders can use it and wasnt OP
The Mammoth gun looks like a Drilling variant. There was more versions than the one that appears in BFV, which was the Luftwaffe version which had double barrel 16 gauge shotgun over a high powered 9.3x 74mmR cartridge. So the Mammoth gun is probably based on the one with 2 rifle barrels and visceral didnt know that the bottom barrel was a shotgun.
i’ve played hundreds of games, and all of the battlefield games except for a few, and getting the peacekeeper made me feel more accomplished that passing fucking middle school
Yo, new Pigpen video on my once-favourite FPS franchise? We move. I like how you talk in detail about content creators, as well as listing your favourite videos from them. It's just a nice detail to have. Also, I have my own trivia to mention in regards to Hardline. In one of the missions, the penthouse sneaking one, I can't remember the name, you can find a Rossalini Tempesta from Burnout Paradise parked in the garage
Hardline was the most balanced Battlefield, and the lessons learned from that game were lost to DICE. It was also the goofiest thanks to its easter eggs and small details.
38:30 these 2 pistols actually have pretty interesting stories in the real world, the kolibri wasnt designed by a gun maker, it was built by a watch maker to showcase his precision and workmanship with small small metal components, like watches and... yk, small guns. the liberator was designed by the us military in ww2 to be as cheap and concealable as possible to be dropped to insurgents in occupied countries, theres also a 3d printed gun file named after the ww2 version which is made to be very simple, easy to make at home and to my knowledge 100% FDM, meaning if you theoretically wanted to make an unregistered gun you could do it completely at home with a 3d printer and a vpn, whereas a lot of other 3d printed guns use other metal components and are only a 3d printed lower receiver (which is the part which is considered the gun by the law)
in bf3 there has been a community of people who only use the knife due to the game's bugged knife mechanic, this allows you to literally bring a knife to a gunfight.
correction on the ban in China, first of all Bf4 was never "released" in China mainland region, because for a video game to be legally and officially released in mainland China it must have a serial number from censorship department to be listed on the market, which Bf4 never got. Second of all no video game was ever "banned" by the Chinese government, it was only listed by the cultural department on the list of games you can't play live on streaming platforms. (the list also have games like L4D2, DOOM and R6s) but no ban was given on making other content regarding Bf4 (like videos). Players in China can still play Bf4 like anyone else on this planet through the EA launcher or Steam. However, different video platforms (Bilibili, TikTok, etc.) pretty much all have their own set of rule regarding Bf4 content that is not required or enforced by the government.
The" Using the Force" reload is not actually The Force, it is meant to be kinesis from Dead Space, and given that there is also a statue of a Marker on one of the Hardline maps and the game is from EA, this comes to no surprise
to comment on the bad company 3 thing, other people probably already said this, but imma say it again anyway. in all honestly, there really *isn't* a wrong way to go about it, to me at least. what i liked most about bad company and what made it bad company to me, WAS bad company. Preston, Haggard, Sweetwater, and Redford, (well, maybe not so much preston) all talking and bullshitting with each other over the course of the games, that's what made them special and memorable (to me). Just get the voice actors and writers from the last BC games back and have it take place where the last one left off and you've got yourself a Battlefield Bad Company 3. you would have to be special breed of idiot to screw that up.
Knowing how Dice is now, they'd definitely screw it up somehow. They'd make it a gritty story and completely miss the point of the original games, Sarge would probably get killed off, Sweets and Hags would probably have a contrived argument that ends with you alone for half of the game, and then they'd introduce some annoying new character that has none of the charm or likability of the cast of the first 2 games. They'd probably say something about how Hags voted for Trump and then kill him off. It could be terrible. Maybe it's best the subseries ended on a high note.
Getting the Phantom and Masterman challenges done are definitely some of my favorite and most memorable gaming memories. I also remember being part of the group that discovered the easter egg at 1:19:20. Same with the first day the Peacekeeper was released I was in the initial Easter Egg hunting group that discovered the order you had to run in the underground tunnels. I remember the confusion at the time because it was unknown that you needed the dogtags from the previous steps in the easter egg so people trying to short-cut it kept dying. Good times.
42:30 there actually is a fully made/animated and completed russian lmg in the game that just isnt avaiable to get anywhere so that also kinda hits at it
I didn’t see any mention about the connection between the mirrors edge universe and the battlefield universe. In Mirrors Edge while in an elevator you can read an article talking about US military operations during the Georgian War which is when BF Bad Company 1 takes place.
One interesting fact about Battlefield is that there was at one point a version of Modern Combat in development for the PSP. It was cancelled and I can't find much information about it.
15:17 I would include the rock land bridge on Sinai dessert between the A and B flag. If you hit it with enough explosive the bridge would fall apart and would make it impossible to get on that big rock to snipe. It would also make some new cover. On Rapture in the They shall not pass DLC the main bridge could be destroyed, this made tanks take the long way around. On Empires edge, Monte Grappa, and Fao Fortress you could destroy parts of the wall creating new entry points
2142 is underrated af was my first BF game when i was like 10, and i loved all the crazy stuff you could do like C4 Bunnyhoping. And the countless hours i spent on Knife only servers damn i miss that game
I should probably mention this, since you didn't, but Hazard Zone is the first of many attempts at AAA devs trying to copy the Escape from Tarkov formula. It plays almost identical to Tarkov, save for a few major changes, but obviously, performed horribly. The new MW game is reported to have a similar mode coming to it at launch, which will be interesting to see, but I have low expectations for that game, too.
This is a great video, the best iceberg video I’ve seen for any topic. You actually go in depth on each point - you’re clearly very knowledgeable about the franchise. And the editing to show off what you’re talking about helps.
That was a really enjoyable and interesting video, I'm surprised Battlefield 1943 wasn't mentioned, but there probably isn't much to say about it honestly
An elephant gun is actually a rifle not a shotgun. I'm not sure if the mammoth gun a shotgun in Hardline as I haven't played Hardline in years now, but irl it would be a rifle
Dropping a Quad in Operation Locker makes for some interesting maneuvers from the players your commanding. It’s also quite satisfying when they take that wyd through a hallway and you watch all the enemy blips start to run away before they disappear. WHOAdkill
1:30 Speaking of secret reloads, there was also one in BF4. If I remember correctly, it was for the Unica 6 and it basically had your soldier gently putting the bullets in his gun
btw you said WW3 has a high ttk but it has a low one the game is slightly more realistic than bf and ttk is dependant on things like body armor and weapon calibre
Side note with the skid loader, if you stand on the back "seat" you get wall hacks. Like, you see the silhouette of every enemy like Paik except it's permanent. Totally missable because no one fucked with the skid loader lmao.
