Casey Crescenzo of The Dear Hunter at a private house show in Utah. He's a supremely awesome dude so you should go buy some of his music. Standard DSLR microphone so sound quality isn't fantastic.
+Christopher J. Martin Yea, he said in an AMA he is a fool for doing this, in his own words: "I push my lungs until my vision starts to go black. You can see as soon as I stop singing that note my head drops a little bit - I have come very close to passing out on stage because of that sort of behavior... not smart." www.reddit.com/r/PostHardcore/comments/2u3zdc/im_casey_crescenzo_from_the_dear_hunter_and_the/co4z2xa
lol do you know how you learn how to sing? you hit the notes all day literally all day within a week your better than this guy (if your good enough to sing white chapel)
Can confirm that this is a thing. As the boyfriend of the user posting this, we can't stand but to try. My boyfriend (this user) can hold the crazy long note, and I thought Casey was an alien when I first heard this version of the song. Apparently people can do it. IDK if you'll see this, but OP, can you reiterate the story behind this? I tried to tell him but was probably inaccurate.
do you play guitar? if you practice all day everyday your so much better than this guy. but people dont want to practice all day everyday theyre lazy, theyre like this guy
I dont think anyone would really say his guitar playing is amazing, it is rather average. But his vocal delivery, lyrical genius and musical composition, is off the charts.
People need to understand it makes no sense to compare this. His guitar sklls are the best for the kind of music he is writing. He does not shred or play power chords in 250 BPM becuase he CHOOSES NOT TO, not because he is "bad at guitarL. Get it through your skulls, people.
What are you guys on? Casey is an unbelievable guitar player. It's not highlighted here, because this song doesn't call for it. But there are plenty of videos of him shredding and soloing. Check out the video I got of him soloing WHILE singing in LATR
I come back to this video from time to time and I'm amazed like watching it for the first time. Fucking love this rendition of the song Geo! So good Geo, so good. I dig it Stefanie, I dig it
I wish more people would actually take my suggestions for talented artists more seriously and would want to listen to what I think is a fantastic experience to listen. His voice alone brings so much power and emotion and it's almost like you are living the tale within the Acts. This artist will always be my favorite artist of all time.
does anybody have tab for this version? I have found the tab for the picked album version, but the chords don't translate to the strumming. unless he has a sneaky tuning change from standard. thanks in advance!
Correct me if im wrong but from what I remember years back is his mom is or was an opera singer. Makin momma proud? Anyways I miss when he was in t.r.e.o.s, yuh nuhh . . The receiving end of sirens. Treos also said for singers which it was. Man it broke my heart when he left.
The beginning part are diatonic sixths and the chords look like a E7 sus to E7. He wraps his thumb around to mute the low E though, creating a pedal with the 5th.
