She was stuck in pictures While he passed time in film Oh silly fame, why do you play? Frame by frame, day by day With reels changing over And dropping to the sides Oh, solemn soul see where you are And look to the sides what you discard Press your lips to mine, breathe in deep and lie When the cameras roll, hide away your soul Flash your eyes, forge a smile, entertain But don't get stuck in something you hate Bring me the eyes of the earth Cut off the tongue of the world Keep the ends close in sight to the means that imply You're not living the life that you're worth Pressing your lips to mine, breathe in deep and lie When the cameras roll, hide away your soul Flashing your eyes to sell, lying to yourself Dodging truth form the start, hide away your heart Turn around forge a smile entertain But don't get stuck in something painful Something worse than nothing We could have been smart With the plot from the start Mistakes from the spark We knew it wasn't love Breathe in deep and lie When the cameras roll Hide away your soul Flash your eyes, forge a smile, entertain
I can't believe I found this from Saints Row 3. It's amazing what you find by the means that you would least expect. This is probably now my favorite Indie band, and one of my favorite bands in general.
Yes! I initially heard "In Cauda Venenum" in Saints Row the Third but I didn't get into the Dear Hunter until years later. I completely freaked out when I realized that I had been listening to one of my favorite bands for years before I even got into them.
Honestly, one of the best songs I've ever heard. And Violet reminds me of the acts, especially time signature wise (This song has a lot of 3/4. with like a measure of 2/4 every now and then)
Seriously, I can't understand how major fucking music companies don't sign this band up! Artists with such imense talent, quality and creativity are like goldmines for them. If I had lots of money I would certainly invest on Dear Hunter. The world needs to know about them! \m/\m/
i'm so glad that i found the dear hunter. the color the spectrum has to be my favorite album by far (along with act III) and this is one of the many songs that i can never get out of my head and i'm actually okay with it! now, i know i'm gonna sound all quirky and what not but bear with me here. i'm only 13 and prefer this kind of music, as in indie rock and such as compared to the popular stuff you hear on the radios non stop. it's all repetitive and not very original, while this group really hit the nail on the head when it comes to originality and keeping it fresh! (call me quirky if you must) honestly, i don't think i've ever found a band that could calm me down completely with just one song as well as keep me super motivated to actually want to do stuff with my life, like drawing for example. about 95% of my ideas for doodles and such originate from these songs in some way, shape or form. i apologize for my rambling and sounding all mushy and such, but the amount of love i have for the dear hunter is overwhelming to me! if you made it down to here, howdy!
I'm glad you found something you like, and I'm always glad to see this fantastic band get a new fan. That said, I always advise people to keep an open mind about music and musical tastes. There is plenty of music out there and a ton of it won't appeal to many people but that doesn't mean it isn't music or that it's bad music, it's just not music that appeals to you/them/whoever. There is so much out there and you may one day find that some of your favorite songs belong to genres you're not generally a big fan of and I've always thought that is one of the beautiful thing about music. If you keep an open mind, music that you love will find you, whether it's popular or obscure. Anyway, I realize no one asked my opinion but if you managed to read through it I appreciate the consideration.
Violet to white is the normal dear hunter range of music and improved upon from Casey, this color spectrum feels like an experiment for him to do something really different and make the albums progressing in song organization, progressiveness, writing style according to their colors. Older fans may enjoy the later albums because it reminds them of the same unique style the dear hunter introduced with act 1 and evolved in act 2. This project was something unique I could only attribute to tdh.
