For people wondering, early on in the invasion he was very vocal that he thought Russia would quickly win. He talked a lot of shit about Ukraine. He couldn’t have RP’ed a Russian agent better if he were actually trying. I doubt he was, but he certainly made himself seem like he was. To the point that many people were telling him he should gtfo of Ukraine while he still could.

Was he detained for free speech? If he was actually contributing to Russia's invasion by sharing detailed information on Ukraine's troop and defense positions, then hell no, he wasn't.

Just a correction - when Lazerpig said GL was self-deported, he was most likely right. GL claimed he was still in Kharkiv and was live-streaming. However, when a blackout hit the city, his stream was uninterrupted. It is likely he was somewhere in Europe, but returned at some point, before he was detained for a second time.

I unsubscribed almost immediately because I found him to be UNBEARABLE and hadn't really thought much about him since then. After it was reported that he was killed the other day, I asked on another channel why he was even in Ukraine in the first place. The response I got from several people was that he moved there to be with his wife. I just accepted that and moved on. This video makes *MUCH* more sense. He was not murdered in a Ukrainian prison. Espionage and subversion are serious wartime charges in most countries, and such perpetrators are either kept in extremely long prison sentences or executed. What Gonzalo did was insult and mock a nation in an existential war, trying to demoralize them that there is no point in fighting just to serve his right-wing views, disrespecting its soldiers, the wartime government, and trying to reveal defensive positions, and later the hotel where Western journalists were staying. This guy wanted those journalists to be struck by Russian cruise missiles, and couple that with him being a sex pest "geomaxxer", I don't see what's to gain from defending this guy unless the point is to misrepresent him as some hero to serve right-wing American politics.

This story is like attempting to use a wooden stick to help lift a car, sure there’s some thought behind the attempt, but it’s very clear that things don’t end well for the stick. Lira's arrest wasn't a violation of freedom of speech as some types of speech are not protected. Specifically, in this case, Lira was engaged in *treason*. He wasn't merely criticizing the Ukrainian government. Rather, he was actively supporting a military invasion of the country. As US law would put it, be was giving aid and comfort to the enemy during a time of war. Even in the United States, treason is exempted from free speech protection. Gonzalo Lira was not much different from the likes of Lord Haw-Haw or Axis Sally, the traitors who broadcast english language Nazi propaganda over the radio to demoralize Allied troops during WW2. They were considered criminals and prosecuted as such by the Allies after the war.

This is clearly an attempt to smear Gonzalo Lira aimed at people who probably knew nothing or very little about him so that they take a negative view of him. In reality, he was an amazing mentor to a whole generation of mainly men, and particularly young men who lacked guidance in a world that constantly demeans them. He was not simply a dating advice coach at all. He covered hundreds of topics and spent the last several years of his life sharing his wisdom. I have followed his videos for years and have gained much appreciated insight from them. It’s not that I agreed with 100% of what he said but I agreed with about 90% of what he said and his poetic manner he put forth his ideas, was exemplary, I am extremely grateful that someone who was saving his videos all along re-uploaded them under the RU-vid name red pill archive after his channel was taken over when he was arrested in Ukraine, and his material was deleted. I pretty much expect his name to be lambasted since being a blue pilled. Lam is all the rage in this era but the real ones know and his work will stand the test of time.

Kindly find me any source from the US State Department where this is mentioned. TASS (Russian state media) reported it was on the US State Department, same did RT (also Russian state media), yet I havent been able to find a single source from the US Government that says that Lira has died.

Also side note, as I've reached the end of the video - Gonzalo filmed the dislocation of Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv and posted it online, which was a huge violation of Ukrainian laws (more so in the wartime), so in no f-ing way this case was a "violation of free speech". He broke the law and put in danger Ukrainian soldiers. That's it.

Gonzalo had a lot of quirks and even dark aspects in his life. However, despite what the Gamer from Mars said, Gonzalo did become quite an astute geopolitical analyst and, yes, a great journalist, in the end. He was educated and very informative. I don't think he knew what was going on exactly at the beginning of the war (e.g. he didn't think it would happen or that Russia was going to win a a matter of days) but he quickly figured out a lot of things. Eventually, as the war grew on, it became a war of attrition that Russia will undoubtedly win, beating the US and the entire West. Gonzalo , with time, came to explain this attrition very cogently. I do believe that he knew his time on Earth was nearing its end because of his heart condition and so he wanted to go out with a bang which the oafish Ukrainians were happy to oblige him with. It all shows to me that Gonzalo was right in the end about the Ukrainian rabble government, doomed to be totally destroyed despite inept U.S. efforts to keep it in power. I really feel sorry for the Ukrainian people, as was Gonzalo, who were duped by the West into confronting the Russian bear and are dying in their hundreds of thousands as a result. In the future, there will be movies in which the Maidan coup will be seen in the same way as the rise of the brownshirts in Germany, e.g. the scene in "Cabaret" in which a boy sings a beautiful song but the camera goes on and focuses on his svastika armband, shocking us. The audience all knows that this movement, with a beautiful song, was going to result in the death of millions of Germans (and others). So sad,. Poor Ukraine.

You cant just hop a flight there. No mention of personal responsibility from tucker carlson. I'm pretty sure all that Lira had to do was ask the State Department for a hardship loan and he could have gotten to a safe country. In stead he thought getting on the Ukrainian SBU's nerves during martial law was a good idea. At one point I actually watched Lira's manosphere content for the entertainment value. Then came a time where you could tell the guy cracked and had some mental health issues, heavy drug use, or a combination of the two. I want to say his drug of choice was cocaine and you could tell he was circling the drain. Lira dying in custody is likely a combination of things. Damage done by years of heavy drinking and drug use along with minimal medical supplies for noncombatants made a bad case of pneumonia too much for his body to handle. You can say it's a result of the SBU confining Lira, but with a state of war I don't think there's much they could do.

Perhaps he wanted his death to send a message, not to the people of the world or even to the Ukrainian government, but his estranged family... Maybe he was mentally ill... Maybe he was simply a conman, like everyone here is saying, and is best left _forgotten..._ Either way, it's sad to me. I'm grateful for what the man taught in some of his videos (I will admit that he's wrong in others).
