Titanfall 2 was really cheap on steam and I bought it and played the campain, and OH. MY. GOD. that was a completely new experience.

ONE REASON ALONE WHY THE TITANFALL STORY IS THE BEST STORYMODE TO EVER EXIST: it is not only a GREAT story with wholesome characters, but it explains the multiplayer playstyle PERFECTLY! it shows you the movement mechanics and you lean to master them, you get EVERY single titan class so you can find out which class you like the most and you really learn to love titans as a whole (the moment when blisk shreds bt and you escape with the smart pistol is HELLA good) and the people that are saying "but it is short, i am nor gonna pay for a shorter story than the others" god are they stupid because in my opinion it is WAY better to have a BLAST of a campaign with a lot of fun for a shorter time than a campaign that has the same amount of content but tries to go loooong ways to get your playtime above 30 hours

Single-player stories are becoming a rare gem in the world of gaming.

Just wanted to say I really enjoy this new editing style. Makes it feel much more conversational and I like how you occasionally choose to implement yourself in the background footage.

I think one cool story thing that Apex could do would be live events. Like for example when a major map change happens (for instance when Maggie blew up part of Kings Canyon) how incredible would it be to actually be playing a match when something like that happens? Or for the season 13 trailer when Newcastle led the defense against the big sushi monster. That would've been a great LTM!

I think one game that does it quite well is Exoprimal, where in the game the actual online matches serve as the campaign missions which all the players experience together. And sure the story is pretty bad and mostly runs down to collecting written logs which are read out to you, but some of the online missions where you are accompanied by a story NPC is a really cool idea that I think could be expanded upon and made to work for some modern titles

i'm so lore deprived that i genuinely get mad when I remember respawn won't allow us to load in apex maps by ourselves just to explore and appreciate the details

I will say, if they made TF3 today it wouldn’t be the same. Respawn devs that made TF2 have left. I mean just look at the story since season 5 it’s gone drastically downhill.

This is why I think Baldurs Gate 3 was a breath of fresh air. It was an amazing story with all the gear that you don’t even have to pay for. They made an old school move and it worked. Hell it won game of the year

Could you make a video where you rank the best campaign games?

I want a campaign that has lots of people working in it at the same time- not like helldivers 2, but where a lot of people try to complete multiple objectives against ai on a gigantic map (not open world, multiple battle royale sized maps). An example would be the shadow siege event that revealed mwiii

It seems like multiplayers and campaigns are just separate games now. We've had some really awesome multiplayer experiences and some really awesome single player experiences recently, just not any that are in the same package.

I do understand what you mean. It feels like AAA studios nowadays are cutting back content to focus on multiplayer, and still failing to actually deliver on the multiplayer. There's also "The Death of Campaign Multiplayers": when singleplayer campaign-focused games had a bonus gamemode (Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Last of Us, etc). What it all boils down to is companies wanting to avoid taking risks. Things like COD Zombies wouldn't be possible if the devs thought "this would be a fun spin-off mode" and the higher-ups said "go ahead". They hid it at the end of the campaign, but it was still the most talked about thing.

I would love more campaigns. 1 of 2 things happen: 1) they do a good job and I get to appreciate it. 2) It's terrible and the memes are endless.

League of legends actually came close to fulfilling this dream - for a minute Riot would hire indie studies to make standalone, campaign driven games set in the League IP (Ruined King, Sing of Nunu and Willump) and I loved them! The story and characters are my favorite part! But then Riot massively downsized earlier this year and they shut down the studio responsible for making the single player games 😢

I'd say hd2 is a constant campaign we're all actively participating in, which is a huge reason why it feels so fresh

I would've said Fortnite 'kinda' has a campaign through Save The World, but the problem is that its not supported as much by Epic, its not very connected to the Battle Royale stuff besides the only connection of the Storm, and it doesn't even affect the Battle Royale section of the game. It annoys me a ton, because there is so much potential they have to make Save The World and Battle Royale connected, like special missions to help develop the plot about the storm and its effects more within Battle Royale. Infact, I feel like Battle Royales plot brushes off the storm and its effects on the storyline WAY too much. I mean, the only time they've actually 'fought' the storm besides non-canon ltms was when Midas made a machine to stop the storm, and that's it. All I wish for is that Epic Games would connect their past and their present, and make an interesting story between the two gamemodes.

There was actually a bit of lore in the first titanfall game, like you have a basis for titanfall 2. In the first game you get cutscenes and small lore bits each mission about the frontier miltia for example, a bit of background of the IMC and even a bit of background lore from titanfall 2 characters, blisk, sara..

Playing vanilla Destiny 2’s campaign was a really awesome experience. Especially with friends

as someone who’s mainly a single player, the campaigns in multi games like cod waw and halo got me even more into the games, as well as the overall series. campaigns only help overall, and it provides a symbiotic relationship to the multiplayer

I miss camping’s so much I still go back and play Bo3’s campaign (it was my first cod campaign and I grew up with Jak and Daxter) and it’s still so much fun

dying light 1… my favorite multiplayer campaign of all time, it was so amazing, i beat thee entire game with my cousin, it was so fun, we would stay up all night playing

Also need MORE LOCAL COOP. Some games there's not even a reason they don't have it, mcc and minecraft and borderlands all known for console splitscreen while my best options for modern splitscreen is bad games in general or modding. In recent memory me and my sisters top fav splitscreen games have been it takes two, res evil 6, and rainworld. Although even in rainworld the new DLC characters don't even have a splitscreen mode

I think a good example of a well made (though sometimes short) series that uses campaigns are the Spiderman games. Overall I agree with this video though!

Titan fall 2 is an easy answer for best multiplayer campaign, but to be honest, the game that got me into video games was world at war. That campaign was amazing, terrifying and engrossing as a kid. I fell in love with the challenge and the excitement from flying a black cat over the pacific to crawling through the ruins if Stalingrad, it was a perfect two part campaign.

I got titanfall 2 1 year ago and already replaying the campaign for the 5th time(not counting the ones were i restarted mid campaign)

My friends and I just recently got back into destiny 2 after taking several years break, but maaaan this game is so fun and makes me wonder why I ever stopped playing

Hey Macro, if you want one of the best mutliplayer campaign game try playing a way out. It holds a special place in my heart for being one of my favourite games to play with a friend. The entire game has to be played with a second player and it has such amazing gameplay, characters, story and endings.

I have always loved a good story and campaign. I would love a story mode in Apex for example. Flashbacks and cut scenes are just not enough. I agree with my boii macro🤜🤛

I have not been fortunate enough to play Helldivers 2 but from what i know that game feels like an campaign where you play the story with your actions in a non linear fashion which is a good thing, the devs of Helldivers 2 denied a PvP game mode which already makes the game more co-op then anything multiplayer, i like the direction of this type of game.

Man, this made me so nostalgic for Titanfall 2. Gonna go reinstall it!

If there is one game i would love to see have a campaign is battlefield 2042 since the lore is great. But i don’t mind reading the text or doing the Easter eggs but a campaign I always can come back to. They did try to do a “podcast” where you heard from journalist of the time and how she got information about the wars in the game, that was dope so I would to see more of that aswell.

I think lbp 1 or maybe 2 is one of the best examples of multiplayers with a great story, nothing could beat trolling your friends and having a great time

Don't forget that Respawn was working on a single player campaign game that took place in the Apex/Titanfall universe but then EA forced them to cancel it.

One thing I feel like he missed out was that a campaign can be connected to multiplayer. If we look back at the GOAT Halo 3, there was some customization and features of the multiplayer that was only accessible through the campaign. Campaign can offer other feature to the multiplayer, both does not have to be two completely separate experiences.

I will be honest, in my mind I thought about Fallout 76 since Fallout is a series that is about the story and 76 tried to put multiplayer in. Now the multiplayer isn’t the problem 76 had, but to say that game did poorly is an understatement.

You'd think since Apex is only multiplayer, it would be perfect... yet for some reason I get dashboarded all the time ane I can't load into the game. At this rate it'll die because I'm not the only one.

I just wanted to mention two things that I noticed that are now absent -Splitscreen/Local co-op -Cheat codes it makes me kinda sad to se them go. I know developers have their reasons but still makes wonder about games with this type of things, specially splitscreen. My Brother and I would absolutely love being able to play Helldivers 2 splitscreen but thats not possible and even though we have 2 pcs, mine can't run the game and even if it did buying it here where I live(Brazil) would kinda expensive. And as for Cheat codes, Its just fun little things I like to see in more modern singleplayer experience

You should try the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series it has 3 main open world faction based campaign games from 2007-2009 but then there’s free mods on top that are more recent look it up if you wanna try its really fun

one of the main reasons i stopped playing apex legends is exactly that: wanting to know more about the story and being punished by having to read dialogues that take forever to finish because of that weekly thing. learning a videogame's story shouldn't feel like a second job.

Halo's MP campaigns, especially reach's campaign were so amazing for me when i was just a little kid. Even though it'll probably be a thing of the past, I wish they bring them back

I love me a good campaign, even a bad one can still be good for the laughs, and again length doesn't matter as much as a well written and engaging story, I just hope one day i can make some great games like titanfall and maybe create some enjoyable campaigns

i recently installed titanfall2 after my friend's insists, and i can truely say it's a masterpiece, it really really deserves a sequel, and a game to be hit, to be trending at top, it's soooo awesome, the guns the movement everything!!!!!

I can’t think of any other game than Destiny 2 where a Co-op campaign was done so well. The voice overs, in-game cutscenes… every mission felt like you were discovering a level rather than rushing through it.

Although well deserved, I really like the appreciation Macro has for Titanfall 2! I rarely play games now, just online games with my friends so I really appreciate campaigns that are short and if they can be played co-op. I prob have a couple open world games I've never finished because I don't really take the time to just play by myself for too long.

I hated Forhonor but once I played the campaign and played it on its hardest difficulty I started to enjoy it and understand it. Just like cod and halo. Shit I might not have been a legion main if it wasn't for the finale mission.
