Best thing to remember that it's a PIRATE game called sea of THIEVES. So when someone lies and/or steals and/or sinks you that's just part of the game so don't get worked up, because we all do it and will do it so there's no excuse when it happens to us.
As a 1000+ hours player here's the most important tip: Reapers Bones are the best faction in the whole game. Period. Don't believe anything else. Trust me bro
I had a friend group that was addicted to Sea of Thieves, it was really fun to play with them and all the jokes and laughs are things I sitll remember. I would never play this game alone, but with 4 people, there is few games that give a better multiplayer than this one in my opinion. 9/10 for me without a doubt.
Quick tp for new players this is a *PVPVE* game meaning at least on the high seas any player can attack any player, even when your in a "Alliance". Rare has failed to properly advertise this and I often find players who think that stealing, betraying, sinking, double gunning, boarding, and spawnkilling are breaking some rule. remember that *treasure is not yours until you sell it* Also side note imo reaching pirate legend is this games tutorial. *Welcome to the seas swabbies!*
I have around 3.5k hours in this game. This game is an experience, sometimes it's stressful and annoying but most of the time it's really fun and engaging. Even doing simple things PS: Macro, you forgot to mention Mermaids to bring you back to your ship if you're too far 🤨
As many have pointed out: Keep your sails up to park instead of anchoring, but it is also important that you point your boat at open water. One thing is to PLEASE do not hate on the PVP. The game is supposed to be PVPVE, and I know that I am primarily a PVP player so I have my biases, but PLEASE do not get so mad when you are chased down or when you are sunk. Unless the enemy shows behaviors that lack civility, such as trolling, saying slurs, cussing, etc,... PVP in the game is not evil and you have to learn that there is always a chance to lose your progress. If you do not like that you are constantly sunk, then I supposed that is something you can improve on and reflect about. You do not need to sweat, nor tryhard in order to get good at the game. All that is needed is to accept the features of the game as is, be humble, and love what it has got to offer(as long as it is intended, of course). Many people got very good at the game without arenas or without hourglass, though definitely not as much as those that pvp in those modes often, they still are majorly better than probably 90% of the game. This is not for my sake, but it is for yours. I, and many others who pvp, could not care less about you disliking us sinking people. It is an integral part of the game that we love and enjoy. To hate it is to not accept the nature of the game. If you are sunk, learn why you sunk and try to get better. **Either way, keep a good attitude, because it is mostly to benefit you so that your gameplay is more enjoyable.**

Macro saying your enjoyment depends on your crew is so true I got this friend who just wants to grind the fortresses and it gets soooo boring yeah we earn tons of money but the enjoyment is lacking

AND HE BE FORSAKING THE ELEGANCE (and incredible movement tech) OF THA SWORD! (FYI, if you block before sword lunging + jump at the right time, you go WAY father. It be addicting)
As someone who has dedicated hundreds of hours into sot PvP I will agree and say that yes you should be careful of other crews but that being said must people old and especially the vets of the game wont take the first shot. So have some trigger discipline when encountering others. And one more thing if you see player that is a glowing gold ghost or a skelly with shiny gold bones for the love of god run of your lives…
Do you still have to have Xbox live to play it on console? Me and my girlfriend would love to play it together and I have it on both my computer and my Xbox but if you need live for the Xbox to work then there isn’t a point in us playing.
When you die if you die in certain ways like to a shark underwater you will get a different flame in your lantern when you die go to the middle of the ferry pull out your lantern raise your lantern take flame and boom I’ve gotten a blue red pink purple and green flame

ITS A PIRATE GAME your gonna sink lose and spend 6 hours for a GARGANTUAN hall and then some random sweaty sloop gonna pull up and roll you but it’s part of the experience don’t be made about it and if you are be a little baby and go over to the pve severs but vets like me will know (and maybe hate) the feeling of when you sink a ship and they are soooooooo mad about how the pvp is dumb but anyways just enjoy and trust no one
