There is no point keep playing a game that has no future content, the animations are painfully slow, the training of temtems its unbelievable slow , new cosmetics its behind payment pass the game already is incredible expensive, anything fans ask they say its too hard or expensive... like new islands new tems, they say that take too long"for us to only play them for a few days", so basically crema is too small and poor and slow to make new content, pretending this was an mmorpg was probably the biggest mistake the battlepass was just a slap in the face
@Mr-R.R.
@Mr-R.R. 8 месяцев назад
This right here is why live service games work so well. People literally don't want a one off experience anymore and need games to constantly release new content, but that requires a lot of money which is where battle passes, micro transactions, etc. come in too play. Only companies that can thrive on one off games are big studios with big IP or an indie game that gets lucky.

@@Mr-R.R. hard disagree, players leaving is because the current available content AND social dynamics aren't enough. If a game is fun to keep playing or fun to replay then people will do so even without updates.

They want to milk the players for an MMO-like Pokemon but can't be assed to provide the MMO portion aside from players just roaming around doing barely anything all like regular pokemon games. If they weren't prepared for the upkeep and maintenance it never should have utilized a proprietary server-based connection just to play.

There's also a hard lack of clear goals, what they are doing and what they intend to do to update de game like future expansions, new events (which they moved away from), there's nothing. How can we even hype something we never hear anything new about?

They have to hard pivot for me to consider coming back. I backed a kickstarter for an mmo monster taming game. A "massively multiplayer" game is always changing and adding things so it felt kinda bait and switchy for them to say that there will be no more tems or islands. Then the microtransactions. I don't mind supporting a battle pass or buying cosmetics to support future development BUT like i said above, decided to not add anymore tems or islands. To me it feels wrong to charge a box price for a game then slam it with microtransactions only to not continue adding meaningful expansive content to it.

This game has no content once you beat the story. They’re not gonna change on a whim and start listening to their playerbase. This game had so much potential, and is better than Pokémon in alot of ways. They let the opportunity slip

For me, Temtem just kind of missed out on its insane potential. I'd always loved Pokemon games, but more recent entries had me feeling bored with lack of innovation. I joined during a peak month in Temtem's early access, following hype around videos showcasing a new and unique MMORPG style of creature collecting game where the world is full of live players and more things to do. But, Temtem devs basically saying "hey guys, all significant development is over - but we'll still sell you $20 mounts" within the first year of the game's release feels like they just killed their own creation. When players run out of stuff to do in an MMO, they leave. And, when you have an MMO that drops from tens of thousands of players to a mere few hundred, it leaves the world feeling empty and purposeless. I hope someone else in the future can take this type of concept and execute it in a way that cultivates long-term investment from its larger community, rather than just doing bare minimum to maintain a small cult following, because I really thought this was going to be a serious Pokemon competitor in its hayday.

There needs to be an offline mode. I have flimsy internet and there have been days I couldn't play despite having the day off which stunk. I went on a family vacation and the hotel wifi wouldn't work, had to use my phone hotspot. Also like you said, they focus too much on the PVP players. I had good Tems that got nerfed or had abilities taken away that were good for FreeTem, the system that allows catch and release. Not to mention as someone who had played since launch there has been a lot of Temtem Twitch streamers quitting. I subbed to a few that got burned out or moved on to a different game which stings. Pokemon has so much to offer after the story is done. Many creators can make content for days. Also the modding community is insane. Anyone trying to mod Temtem gets banned. I still play. Sunk cost fallacy at work but I enjoy the game. I just wish some things were improved.

100% It should be an offline game with the option to go online mmo. There really is no reason to force the MMO side of it on us. You could also have software checks when you do go online in case anyone has been hacking and trying to use those hacks online. If you want to do that offline, no prob, but keep it balanced online. Hope the devs can pull their heads out of their butts and implement a few of these things because it would go a long way to giving this game longevity until the next expansion/generation can be rolled out.

There are a couple things that you left out that are still worth mentioning: The Devs have said that the game is done at this point. No more new Islands and, unheard of for Monster Taming games, no more new TemTem in the future. With the Devs essentially being "done" with the game aside from monetizing cosmetics, there is little to no reason for players to truly stick around and/or come back. I do not see what kind of Update Crema could pull to turn this around, but the way they have been working on, it will take a couple months to actually get here. Maybe they will take a page out of Pokemons book and just release TemTem 2 a couple years in the future instead of supporting TemTem further than this. But at that point, I doubt people will still have trust in Crema as a company to go along with that again.

Yeah the no new Tem tems ever is pretty insane. With their launch trailer/ cinematic with a song and everything they looked like they were mounting up to seriously provide an alternative to pokemon. Shame because i do think the game is quite good at its core. The loop for these games of course is the collecting, battling, breeding, training. When you say no new tems, no new locations, that just kills the loop.

It being an MMORPG with internet requirement is what has kept me from buying it, moreover I've heard the game is grindy and, I won't be hypocrite with it, I dont really mind if there isn't much to do after the main story, at least a little post game quest like in your regular Pokémon game and that's it for me but them not caring and treating it like a free-to-play game.

Did they really say that? Man that is a bummer. Thought they would go for a pokemon like approach adding new locations and tems over the years. Even if it was 4 years between "gens" as long as they communicated that and kept up with smaller content drops i think they could have had a great system
@OrdemDoGraveto
@OrdemDoGraveto 8 месяцев назад
@@brianp6859 Yeah. Their reasoning is that they dont want to make the game pay to Win, so they cant have paid expansions to add New tem. Even If players without the expansion could buy them tems at the auction house, it would represent and advantage. And its definatly not viable comercially to do expansions for free with New places, stories and tems...
@brianp6859
@brianp6859 8 месяцев назад
@OrdemDoGraveto yeah see that line of thinking is totally bunk. In pokemon if you don't buy the newest game guess what, you don't get to play the latest competitive. You can still play the old competitive with whoever is playing, but I don't think these contents drops need to be free as long as they 1 provide value and 2 are priced reasonably. New tems should open up new metas and team archetypes without introducing severe power creep. Card games do it all the time. Plus with the doubles system of tem tem it makes more things viable. From there is just becomes a matter of how you handle new player on boarding down the road but that can be done well too. So much wasted potential. If tem twm is still around when I'm rich one day I'll just buy the ip and studio and fix this dumpster fire lol
@OrdemDoGraveto
@OrdemDoGraveto 8 месяцев назад
@@brianp6859 Yeah, I and most of the fanbase would gladly pay for a expanse with new places, New story and New temtem. Their wish to not make It pay to Win is honorable, but misguided in this case. Yeah, those who bough the expansion would have an advantage in having easier access to more temtem and itens, and posibly even faster leveling If there was an increase to Max level. But thats expected in a MMO. As long as the content werent locked, and people without the axpansion could get the temtem and itens by buying them in game from other players.

Crema severely overestimated the average skill level of monster collector game players and what those players focus on. The vast majority of players are not interested in PvP or anything simulating pvp enough so that they are faced with just how unprepared they are. The game should have had a far more robust roster and a metric crapton more PvE with a focus on making sure they understood the average player skill level is quite low. PvP is challenging and fun for those who put the work in to get good at it but that has always been a minority of the player base for these type of games yet the most visible in terms of content creation. I say this as a player who beat Gen X in Kisiwa my first playthrough not realizing it was designed to make you lose the battle. It was the first point of the game I finally felt challenged. Most players lost multiple times in their journey way before that encounter and beg for help with the last two encounters. Sadly the game needs to be easier and a bigger focus on content for collectors and pve. More people are obsessive collectors than they are obsessive competitive battlers.

They also do not listen to most of the feedback the community is giving them. For example a lot of players have asked for an option to skip battle animations (turn on or off in settings) Seems like an obvious QoL improvement because the animations can really drag out a battle too long after a while. But the devs are so stuck up in their own asses and dont really care. Their respond was: We worked hard on the battle animations and we don't want to ruin the game economy. Because faster battles means you'd have to grind less, but why is that a bad thing? They just want us to unnecessary grind longer, and to me that sounds like they dont respect the players time. I do not appreciate that. And decisions like this is what drives players away eventually.

It depends on what you value in playing a game. If you’re looking for PvP the game is dead. The overall player base is slowly getting smaller and the game still doesn’t offer a offline mode which may never happen at this point the game may become unplayable if the servers go offline. To answer your question I would pass unless you get it on sale.

I wish they had a NG+ feature for the campaign where everything is scaled to max level and could be quite a fun playthrough. The pvp got annoying very fast for me and friends because It was constant Tem swapping and that bored us to death, and the constant balancing changes that would make some Tem useless. The PvE side of things after my 3rd Luma and breeding many perfect Tems I felt I accomplished enough and dropped it. If my friends had kept playing or had I met a decent guild I might have kept grinding. But solo it was had become very little fun and reward to time ratio. No future updates or expansion planned either so nothing to prep for or be ready to tackle.

This should have been an offline game with the option to go MMO. There really isn't a reason to lock people online all the time. Just have a software check when you take it online to prevent hacked/modded tems and such. Also i hadnt heard till i looked through the comments but im really shocked they made it sound like this was the end of tem tem with no new tems or locations. If they really wanted to go mmo, I don't see why they couldn't just keep giving us new islands with a handful of tems every 6 months to a year. That feed of new content is what keeps people engaged. I mean look at pokemon games, they pretty much follow the same play pattern, game drops, huge player count, as time goes on player count falls off the cliff down to the grinders and battlers. There's nothing wrong with that but pokemon doesn't claim to be an MMO either. I hope the devs reevaluate/ change their plans for the future of tem tem because i think this could have been a really solid alternative to pokemon and would have also made pokemon better simply by being competition.

Postgame makes sense because games similar to this give you acess to what you need when you're in that point of the game (yes you do have acess to items that help you with this early on in temtem but the trainers don't give you nearly enough to get them efficiently). Because of this I was DREADING progressing through the story in a pokémon clone. That shouldn't be a thing, EVER. But I still beat the story just to see what postgame had, and it was just shitty PvE with perfect ai that predicted your every move.

With all due respect to TemTem It was never gonna beat pokemon like many said. But Pokemon like it or hate it has unique and interesting creature design and not just that- but pokemon has plenty character designs of many ages that can reflect the players, that people like to draw, talk about etc. Temtem doesn't have that same sway in either category. The monster design isn't that iconic or great and the human characters also don't seem that interesting or fleshed out. It shows too by the lack of fanart and word of mouth you see around. People to this day are still talking about Cynthia Steven stone, Gary Oak and the latter has so many characters & mons that aren't as interesting or remember able.

it started barely after the EA version was made available, back than they lost a lot of people by banning in droves people if the feedback was not only positive and by their standards, they argued that they were ok with criticism with proper argument, yet every of those got banned (like me) since the message i got from leaving criticism for what was wrong and how to improve was deem "Disrespectful to the Devs" LOL WUTT? Than the months of excuses why the economy ingame was so terrible and the answer was always "oh, the game is not finished yet and they're working on more important things", than we found out that not only they shoved up premium currency and a bucket of salt on top of the wound with "battle pass" bs. And many more things made a game that could be a new pokemon(killer) into a steadily dying game where the devs are toxic towards anyone that don't shower them with praise. Oh also the bans without appeal if people got afk for few minutes (grabbing snacks, a drink, wc bussiness) BAAAAAAAM, BANNED. It doesn't feel as a fresh take on the genre of collectible monsters. Monster sanctuary or palword do feel like fresh takes. Temtem feels predictable and samey. Uninspired is the right comment I'd say. Not bad, not terrible. Just... it doesn't do enough. The pokémon killer can't be just pokémon. It has to one up pokémon, and Temtem only does it in aspects that pokémon users don't really care. And don't get it wrong, that's the public it's trying to get: Pokémon players.

I have just come back to see what's new. There isnt much, I've just finished the new raid, and I never ever PVP. I spend my time much better in Warcraft, which the endgame has been happening since day one. Comparing end game design, WoW let me do dungeons everyday trying to pursue a higher difficulty and hard PVE achievements, I can transmog farm, mount farm, reputation grind, news maps launched and there's the "battlepass" farming, which is easy and fast, differente from Temtem that cant even do that because battlepass is all the game has to offer in the endgame. Hard to compare since it's microsoft's now, and both them and blizzard are well stablished and big companies, but one should learn from the best. Sad to log in to see there's nothing new for me to do.

If the pay-to-play aspect was cut down to a bare minimum (or none considering how much support they got from funding), and competitive wasn’t such a chore due to fertility, I'd still play until the story was done. Offline mode will always remain the hopium that'll never be. However, the two other aspects could've helped their player base stick around a little longer.

I will say this I feel like the market place made desire to catch them all really bad especially since u get it mid game and the who sell temtem feature made money farming easy and I bought the original on switch and downloaded the battler on steam and yes this is my first mmo it still didn't feel like pokemon or even digimon The main thing there was lil mini games or side games in the game and there was just battles but even if it was there wasn't multiple side stuff and I stopped at the digital gym because it was not great

Do you mean monster hunter stories? Because Monster hunter rose is an action hunting game while stories is a monster collector and battler game.

I bought the physical version for the switch and it is unplayable. 😭 The loading times when you get an encounter take ages, and I was looking forward to hunt for lumas… I really regret buying the game. I updated it, then saw it may run better on the system memory so I did that… but nothing helps!! It’s so painfully slow…

Welp I sense an offline update soon if they can't keep up with servers cost. Which honestly I wouldn't mind. My wifi is good enough to download games I just can't reliably play on it.

I've dropped in the middle of the story, I barely finished, It was not up to my expectations the game. It's fun, but the problem is that It doesn't catch the magic that Pokémon and Digimon have for me, so yeah, Pokémon always comes unfinished, but It doesn't have some monster taming with soul enough to face it, unfortunately. I was happy when Yokai Watch was an rival for Pokémon, but It didn't take too much time to Pokémon become the undefeatable leader again.

Man, I remember when people were championing tem tem and saying that this was going to be a wake up call to the Pokémon company and gamefreak. And how tem tem was better than Pokémon. You know, like people are also saying for palworld right now these few days. Or like tem tem was going to be a Pokémon killer. Or that tem tem was going to be a competitor to Pokemon. Couple years later, now I don’t really hear as much as about tem tem like I did in 2020. All I did them years ago when people were saying that was to just shake my head.

For me, I bought TemTem like a bit after it came out and as I understand early access games would have some issues, I was okay and was willing to deal with that. Then I booted up the game and couldn't even get into the start menu. Literally stuck at "press start" screen and gave up. There is buggy and then there is just sheer incompetence.

Love: I love the art style. I love the idea of Temtem. I love that they went 2v2 Hate: I hate the execution and that they developed their game around competive PvP-Paul. I hate that there is no battle RNG, it makes it boring and takes the thrill away from battles. I hate that there is no permanent status effects. I hate the breeding system is so limited when i played it. I hate the stamina system with a passion.
