I loved how deep was so arrogant thinking that he could've just sneaked into the boys place until butcher mention the octopus (which no one knows) has shocked him hard.
I was thinking the same thing. He's so comedically stupid, ineffectual and played for laughs most of the time that it's easy to forget that he's a murderer and sexual abuser
To be honest, The Deep confuses me. Is he a good guy who screws up, is he a selfish butt kisser, or what. He just doesn't come aff a malicious the way Homelander and the rest of Voughts top brass does. More often than not he comes off as a guy who has no idea what's going on, and a fascination with blow jobs (which is disturbing, but manageable). This scene comes off as our of place, because he lives sea life and doesn't crave respect the way Homelander does.
Yeah that's what happens when you let manipulative women into your life. You end up broken. I still have no idea what he saw in sister sage. She is an overweight average woman, and he is a Chad.
funny how for the first two seasons they were making the Deep sympathetic and A-train was proving himself the a-HOLE again and again. now they've switched.
They were both pretty much children with super powers. The Deep was usually ineffective so he appeared more harmless. However, A-Train started to mature and realized that he became what he hated. The Deep instead regressed and fully embraced his irresponsibility and childishness.
Just so. They started at similar places, but they've chosen different paths. If A-Train is killed, he'll at least know that he tried to be better. Deep's self-hatred will only get worse.
Easily the worst thing he's ever done. Poor Ambrosios was always good to him, despite everything, she always spoke highly of him, and despite being a God Damn octopus, she was actually a good girlfriend to him. And how does he pay her back for all her kindness and love to him? He kills her, absolutely terrible, the Deep's villain arc has reached it's peak!
Funny thing is that the cephalopod was the only one that actually liked him, Sage needed to be lobotomized to even be able to tolerate him, Homelander sees him as a pawn, The boys hate him, Ahsley thinks he's a moron, Starlight hates him, A train dosen't care about him and secretly wanted to punch him in the face for a while
Some of you pointed out that octopi can survive up to 1 hour outside of water. But what if this scene really played out over an hour, as in Deep was actually sitting there for an hour listening to the death cries which to him felt like 5 minutes due to his shock?
Lots of People don’t get how stress and shock works, you will experience moments of spacing out because your mind is focused on what you just did, eventually, your brain would temporarily lose the ability to track time. Plus the increased blood flow makes you feel like you spent 10 minutes in that room when in reality you’ve been in there for 40 minutes or an hour. Edit: nevermind
I think one reason why the octopus died was due to the sudden loss of water was what caused her to die, meaning it wasn’t prepared for the sudden change in the environment
This actually makes a lot of sense because it can be seen just a few minutes earlier, they are cuddling on the bed out of water and you don't do that for less than 30 seconds. If they wanted to cuddle without a whole ton of unnecessary stress, they would be cuddling in the water. The interpretation that the actual murder taking about an hour or maybe even longer, makes complete sense and looked intentional.
It's a very unrealistic set up. This show had A-train od his own girlfriend , but didn't have the balls to do this to Deep. It's a cringe scene. This show is getting high on hype and becoming unrelateble really. Not in each and every way but still, not cool to see
@@zhenyamugisa9423 Idk bro listening to somebody suffocate for a solid minute standing idle and just waiting for them to die is kinda hardcore too. What makes this comedic is that it was an octopus lol
@@zhenyamugisa9423 well it's kind of in line with the original comic...but they're amping up the intensity on it. at the end of the day, NOONE is worth saving. nihilsm rules and all that muck. theyv'e even taken extra steps to make Hughie unlikable with that moronic storyline that leads to him killing his own father.
Aside from him being an complete douche, can we agree that he probably has the most traumatizing super power in the series? Like I can't imagine the anguish and begging Timothy had before he ate it and The Deep must be experiencing hundreds of incidents like this among the sealife. I would not want this power at all.
Here’s the thing, Deep never once ever tries to atone or redeem himself in anyway. Granted yes he was afraid of homelander, but the son of a bitch raped Starlight, he got so many sea creatures killed and it was all for his image. Deep had potential to do good with his powers; but he rather satisfy his own desires than to ever do good with them.
Yeah being able to understand wildlife seems pretty cool until you walk into a red lobster and have to listen to the live lobsters beg for their life as while you wait for a seat.
He was trying to do a homelander thing of killing his connections I think. But unlike homelander he didn't even have a justification where the octopus tortured him or anything
@@JGVidz Repeat after me. Octopuses dont know English In fact they cant even formulate the concept of a language, cause they dont hae the brain structure for it, yet alone speak any
@@leontoeides there was enough space under that door for it to squeeze under, but I'd be surprised to have them bring this full circle. just seems to fit in line with all of the Deep's historical unintentional animal kills, except this one was in fact on purpose. This way when he dies no one will feel bad for him anymore.
Maybe the first cry was fake, like a toxic manipulative way to call him back, but it got more real as he kept her locked in. They did throw in jumpcuts so he could've been out there for a while.
@@amongusus47825 beta male: breaks down in tears when hearing his lover tell him that she loves him. Sigma male: ignores and waits for more worthy specimen.
@@chongwillson972 or maybe the less narcissistic man. But Deep's character is a very emotionally unstable one who abuses others in retaliation of this sensitivity.
Previously, Deep was a character who felt disgust and pity for feeling valued as someone important, now he is seen as a villain who seeks any way to be like his idol Homelander. And see what it can be like to kill your love from the ocean. it was cloudy
Omg I think you’re right. I was wondering why she kept restarting like that, I thought she might have been faking it. Thanks for saving this scene for me lol.
It's like a metaphor for someone cheating on their wife who has been a loyal supporting partner, for a much hotter looking girl, and then when she finds out he cheated,, he just strangled her to death.
He SA Starlight, He led a life in compliance to Homelander, and now he forsakes the one moral quality he had. The Deep is sheding his humanity just like Homelander is.
Yep. Then he tells Homelander that he's willing to do EVEN THAT; kill everything in the sea and Homelander STILL didnt care. The Deep is digging himself to Hell and giving up everything that makes him unique and special and decent just to be like someone who doesnt give two shits about him. What a profoundly broken, dangerous, sad man.
@@LenOnTheDoor0000He’s obviously terrible to people, particularly women. But there was an insinuation that his relationship with (apparently conscious) sea creatures was at least an attempt at genuine-ness, and rooted in sympathizing for their collective abuse at the hands of humanity. It was entirely possible that since childhood, he’s had something of a hatred for humanity with how they treat sea creatures, which would make his conduct slightly more understandable, even if fucked up.
Many people will diminish Ambrosius as just "an Octopus ", but this scene is the PERFECT representation of a toxic relationship where the other is a DEPENDENT of their spouse. Not "dependent on" emotionally, but a physical dependent. Ambrosius chose to be with Kevin, despite being restrained to a tank, and Kevin CHOSE to be with her. Their relationship is no different than if she were a human in a respirator who depends on the care of their lover. She had no where to go, even if she wanted to, and yet she DESIRED to stay. The way that The Deep treated Ambrosius, through her persistent patience and sincere desire to support him to her fullest despite being dependent on him, is nothing short of despicable.
I've been praying on this mans downfall since Starlight but bro... My man needs to go DOWN in season five and he needs to go down hard. Edit: Also wanted to throw in there that the octopus deserved a hug... And a clean tank. :(
Imagine if he loses his powers but he's not killed. Instead he's put on trial for murder and is made into a laughing stock when all his secrets get posted on social media. He is sent to jail for life and basically gets abused by other prison inmates.
Oh god this was horrible. I havent watched this season. Just seen clips like this. I paused when she was saying she couldn't breath. Worse is where he kept her. In a stupid closet in that small tank. Than she suffocates like that.
he was forced to keep her in the closet since Homelander and Vought wanted him to get rid of her. Plus he was forced to eat the last octopus friend he had.
@frostfang7670 Timothy didnt deserve that fate of being eaten alive by his friend. But the Deep was definitely more spineless than his friend and now he has no one.
Imagine arguing with your partner and only you can hear and understand her. Also I love the Karma Deep gets, every bad thing that happens to him is what he does to himself.
I see Ambrosius as the last good part of Deep that he had left. After she dies, the next scene is Deep saying to homelander: "I will kill whoever you want just say the word" or something along those lines
this made me cry, not fully sure why but like... god damn, im glad starfire beat the shit out of him later on in the episode. r.i.p Ambrosius.. i couldof been a better man for you..i.. i mean......what
@@whoami4352 it isn’t but it represents how far gone he is for the sake of pleasing Homelander. I mean he GENUINELY loves sea animals and the only time he’s caused harm to them is through his own incompetence or being forced to but this time he did it out of pure rage to one he truly loved which I feel is reflective of A-train killing his own gf and then slowly beginning his redemption arc whereas Deep had some minor redemption or trying to be a better person to now this as the series begins to reach its climax
@@ImSakina_ yea I was hoping after the monologue he had with his gills he’d grow as a person and not harm others due to his own self hatred like he did with Starlight but now it’s just down hill
The funny thing about this scene is knowing that tilda swinton was voicing over the octopus and doing these dramatic dying sounds makes it way more funnier!
This scene was weird to me cause when deep crushes the tank ambrosia started to suffocate, but she was chilling in bed with the deep breathing just fine earlier in the episode
Fun fact: most species of Octopus can hold their breath outside of water for about 30 minutes to an hour …..meaning that Ambrosius almost definitely spent well over half an hour locked in that closest writhing in agony as she slowly suffocated. And deep could’ve helped her at any point during that period.
First time he's ended a sea creatures life deliberately and intentionally. I mean, he's taken out a dolphin, whale, lobster, ate an octopus etc. But this? Was ego and anger. Good stuff.
Tilda recording the most dramatic sounds of a character suffocating for this scene must have been absurdly funny to watch, I hope they have footage of her in the studio
Do you not care about octopuses in a general sense? Like, could you watch one of those mukbang RU-vidrs eat a live octopus and remain emotionless? Genuine question here - I understand and second your main point. It was just interesting to me that your statement implied that under other circumstances we wouldn't/shouldn't feel pity for an octopus.
@@Jdjdjdujakzgsha I can't tell if your comment is an intentional oversimplification, but they are not "just fish." Octopuses are mollusks, and the last common ancestor between the two species lived millions and millions of years ago. I'm really curious about your comment. Do you believe that just because *you* don't care about octopuses, no one else on the planet should? Maybe most people don't care about individual octopuses, but they're a fascinating species that we have only just barely begun to understand. "Who cares?" is a bit reductive - I suspect you already knew there are smart and influential people who care about the octopus, so maybe your comment should read "They're just fish. I don't care." Edit: Ah, yes. Alright, diving into your comment history makes this a bit clearer. Your parents were obviously killed by an octopus judging by the numerous "It's just a phucking fish" replies you've left on other comments.
@@jude_the_dude2373 Yeah, nice try. Don't be flippant. You're too smart for that. Of course it's a CGI octopus. Where in my comment did you see me talking about the octopus on the show? Was I not clear that I was speaking about the species generally? No, it was clear.
