The thing about iron fist acting like a child, when he was very young, he disappeared and ended up being raised by monks in Kun Lun where all he did was train. He didn't really mature emotionally and had no contact with the real world.

Eastern wuxia-style monks would've absolutely taught him discipline, humility, and introspection. His frequent childish outbursts and egocentric mannerisms are those of a neglected trust-fund baby, not one raised by a collective of warrior-priests.

I agree with the ladies that Cox elevates this. I remember that I first watched this *before* I watched "Daredevil" because I had first watched "Cage," and "Defenders" is Cage 1.5. as well as DD 2.5. I was very happy when I figured out that Marvel had done the Elektra saga over in Hornhead's show and was happy to see a really good (costumed and in-character) DD!

As much as I loved the moments of the main cast interacting this was also the episode that made me realize that the show runner had no idea what to do with Elektra. They always called her the Black Sky but they NEVER say what that actually is. Is it super-powered being? And if so what powers? She is exactly the same in terms of fighting ability and natural human strength, speed and reflexes. She’s just a slave to The Hand is the only difference now. Which is funny considering they wanted her to be their leader in DD season 2. I would’ve made her into a straight up Saiyan when she was resurrected, in that every time she takes significant damage and recovers her strength, speed and reflexes increase immensely.

They definitely had no clue what the Black Sky was supposed to be. A brainwashed ninja and her followers is not something to overreact about in a universe where the Avengers exist. I mean, Stick killed a child over it. What was he afraid of? A child out ninja-ing Thor? I really don't know why they decided to use The Hand in a live action show if it was gonna be this ridiculous. At least in Wandavision and other MCU projects, they can use magic as an excuse for resurrection, which is already a very abusable plot device already but still.

Random observations... The angles are there to emulate Frank Miller style comic panels. Favorite lines of the series so far... 1) Colleen Wing opens the door to find a *one-handed* blind man asking "Where's the FIST?!?" 2) ALEXANDRA: "I don't think we've been properly introduced." LUKE: "Let's keep it that way." 3) DANNY: "...Bullet proof, blind ninja and ... whatever YOU are..." JESSICA: "Classy." Steph, love the Avengers T! Love the grudgingly increasing love for the show mixed in with the sneering criticism. Cheers!

There's a lot of experimental shots in the episode because it was directed by Phil Abraham who started his career as a cinematographer (he shot the entirety of The Sopranos I think).

I'm glad you guys discussed towards the end that you realize it's mainly the writing or dialog for the character Iron Fist that's an issue. Some people think the actor was miscast as Iron Fist but I think the writers of his show and the Defenders do a big disservice 1.) rushing Iron Fist actor training which was very minimal 2.) his writing for character & dialog. Instead of coming off as the calm, cool, collected like he is in the comics they made him a bit of a man-child, angsty, bubbly (in his series), & angsty so I think their choices for the characterization weren't good. Colleen Wing was the best thing to come out of Iron Fist show tbh and the actor can actually fight. Now there was some talk from stunt coordinator from the show that sounded like the actor for Iron Fist didn't want to fight or train if that's true then he was the wrong person for the job but it did seem like their was scheduling conflicts as they really rushed the show a lot & the actor is English so he had to move/travel to shoot the show. In my opinion Matt, Stick, and Jessica are the best parts of this show even though I really like a lot of the other characters and Danny was not so bad towards the end. Someone else commented this but the writers clearly didn't know what to do with the Villains and were so focused on the team up aspect they forgot to write a good story lol. Like I said Iron Fist and Defenders were rushed, I really think they should have had Daredevil show runners helm the Defenders with writers from the other shows consulting since they know the characters (except maybe Iron Fist cuz he just wasn't written well to begin with).

this show is not that bad, maybe you could give all characters a chance. the hate on iron fist is too much, his show isnt that bad and his character has so much potential, yes daredevil is very good, but that is the only show they have seen so they favor him more, whereas all characters have interesting plots and narratives. The show is shot very differently and realistically representing the chaos and pace of the show.

Luke doesn't listen to Danny before, now he asks what the Hand is about. Matt says they need to be rational and plan what to do next which was already established two scenes ago. Jessica says she wants to get through this and then walks away in the open only to come back later again. Leave it to Iron Fist wanting what we wanted and tries getting this disappointing crossover over with.

My theory is that there was a bet about how many different camera techniques they could cram into each scene. It may also have helped to have watched Iron Fist, as that way no matter how cringe a scene in this is you could say “at least it’s not as bad as Iron Fist”.

As A ''Hero For Hire'' Comic Fan ( And Luke Cage ''Powerman'' and Danny R. ''Iron Fist'') The Writing For Danny in the Iron Fist Series ( Script is Not The IP - Iron Fist ) Not To Mention How In Iron Fist ( All the Fight Scene's Were Worked On for a half an hour .Then Shot...) I saw this reaction on my feed and stopped watching it after the 2nd episode not because of the show but the unnecessary nitpicking and hating of things they heard about the show. Not coming in with a open mind, them not watching the others shows this is based on and wondering why they're confused by references that comes from shows they haven't seen.then they will blame the low views on the show not their predetermined hate for this

Of all the problems this show has, Matt telling everybody he is Daredevil is easily the worst. I don't know why Achara is acting like it was a good thing. Its the reason that Marvel are semi-rebooting his show.
