CV as "on/off" sounds like a switch (0/127) when in reality one should rather think of a knob with every value between 0 and 127. (came for that question and got confused because that info is at 7:41, maybe this comment is for someone like me.)
Looking forward to the second installment of this series. I've been causing myself unnecessary headaches and wasting time by not using these features. Thank you for the valuable content 👍
That's a(nother) great piece Evan; thank you. You do realise the problem you give me whenever I watch one of your videos in that I immediately start another piece of music using whatever tips you explain, and my current pieces will languish for even longer before completion? It's all your fault! 😃
This capability was one of the premier features of Reason 1.0 since it so well mirrored what those of us who are, for lack of a better term, "old" and actually had to wrangle patch bays, cables, and racks of gear some of which was MIDI capable, some of which was not and used CV. That's why early versions of Reason were unique and no one else offered that level of virtualization of an actual process. However, I think interest in using CV in Reason waned over time since people didn't really see much value in it probably because they never had to deal with it. I hope people watch your video and (re)invest in this cool capability. A younger friend of mine prefers BitWig because of the default routings and modulations which, for him, are easier to use.
That's what drew me to Reason in the first place too! But I certainly appreciate the workflow improvements of default routings and "digital" matrixes of "digital" CV most of the time.
Thanks Evan for the great intro to CV. Could you please dig more into sound design in stock instruments like Europa, Thor etc. in your future tutorials after what you have planned maybe? Just saying... Keep up the good stuff. Best ✌
@@StockMusicMusician I was just venting my dude. That ad popped up for about the 40th time in a row. I bought it almost 2 years ago it's literally the worst purchase of this decade fa me
