Grumble Volcano recently grew on me and is one of my favorites, but nothing can beat Toad’s Factory for me and it’s a crime that it’s never been remake and probably won’t anytime soon.

Solid list. I remember playing MK Wii in singleplayer a lot when it first came out. So I was super surprised by the fact that many people love Maple Treeway. It's one of my least favorite tracks. IT's still good, but I never thought it was great. Looking forward to future lists :) Random idea, ranking the 1st stages of Sonic games.
You might be the only person I’ve ever heard from who’s not a Maple Treeway fan, interesting! I definitely have some more lists in mind, but I’ve also got some other ideas that I’ll be playing around with too. We’ll see how it all plays out. I need to do more with Sonic for sure, I will add your suggestion to the list!
ds yoshi falls deserved better. it has a cute aesthetic and is way too overhated. It's far from the best in the game, it's not f-tier but maybe a low c-tier. Sure, it has a simple layout but the aesthetic is cool and the giant yoshi egg is legendary. there's plenty of hot takes in this list, and it's quite interesting, but gosh yoshi falls is not the worst track in the game. my least favorite is probably snes mario circuit 3, and i honestly can't decide what track is my favorite.
You present a solid argument for Yoshi Falls - that egg in the middle is quite magnificent. Also that’s funny that SNES is your least favorite, one of my friends always argues with me about having it low in my list because it’s actually his favorite! To each their own I guess.
Yeah i agree yoshi falls is quite overhated . Every Mk deserves a simple track. Atleast it’s hectic and fun. Worst for me is sherbert land. That track contains the worst last section of any race in the game after you leave the cave till the finish line such a boring last stretch..
i know for sure that i would like dry dry ruins way more if i was good at it- watching top players play this track in wars / mogi lounge is so satisfying, there is so much cool tech you can do in it.
How you feel about the 8 remake of Grumble Volcano? for me perhaps the only wii remake i think betters the OG.. meadows & summit are good remakes aswell..the rest are clearly inferior

MKWii isn't my favorite in the series (I find most tracks overrated) but Koopa Cape is the best by far. Do 64 or DS next since those are my childhood along with DD
I plan on doing every single Mario Kart, so eventually your full childhood will be explored! I also grew up with those three, so I understand this take entirely.
Favorite nitro is also Grumble Volcano while favorite retro is also DK Mountain. Sad to see Dry Dry Ruins so low, definitely an underrated masterpiece of a track. Barely doesn’t get the #1 spot for me.

I can't tell if you are calling all these tracks "races" on purpose or on accident. I guess they can be called "races" but I always call them "tracks" or "courses" lol.
It’s totally an accident lol. I consciously try to avoid doing it but sometimes it just slips out. It is a struggle every time I record. I think it’s because I ran track and am so used to referring to everything as a “race”
Slip of the tongue - I run half marathons and marathons and we call them "races," so there's like a glitch in my brain when I talk about Mario Kart tracks. I need to be better. I am trying to be better.
Good list disagree but each to there own. Toads factory is 100% s tier. Will say one thing playing this game alot the CPU is awful on the following tracks. RR,moonview highway,dk summit & mountain,maple treeway. I think because these tracks contain massive shortcuts the AI can’t take..
That’s an interesting point about the shortcuts and how they affect AI, never really thought about it that way. It seems like something the rubberbanding would help with but I guess even that can’t fix it.
