Kanchivaram seems to be combination Kanjivaram and Kanchipuram. It has always been in my mind that Kanjivaram silk is from Kanjivaram Town and Kanchivaram is a temple town. I have never been there. Google is great to clarify my doubts. I love silk and appreciate those who are in that business. There are many types of Silk and it takes a lot of efforts to put the beautiful cloth together.
In Tamil cha and ja are represented by the same letter, so Kanjivaram or Kanchivaram both are the same thing which is the local name for the city Kanchipuram just like people call Varanasi Benares.
Kanchipuram is like a second home to me. The peace and sense of security you feel here is unparalleled. How can you not when the town has some 1000 amazing temples. There is always something happening in the town’s spiritual realm. Visit Kanchipuram to experience the magic!
The weavers don't get paid for all the hard work.someone else loots the money in lakh. Sad story. wish these weavers are rescued and the art gets passed on to future gen.
Hello team, thank you for bringing up this series. But kindly add subtitles as few of their words are not properly audible and not all Indians understand the tamil language. Hoping more of these videos.
I think using the phrase "no less than artist " seems like you are trying to convince that they are artists. There should be no need to convince. They are artists. Period. I think THEY ARE ARTISTS
unfortunately the faces etc you see on the sarees are not even handwoven the typical kanjivaram silk saree is usually a handpicked butta ( motif design saree) which can't be replicated on a pick and pick or any other powerloom . the same range of sarees in Banaras is called Kadhuwa Katan silk sarees expected a better researched video by a reputable channel .
