For note length extension into subsequent measures (10:34), you don't have to press the notes you want to extend before switching to the new measure. Just go to the measure, hold the button and press the notes you want to extend.
@idrumgood
@idrumgood 2 года назад
Also your swing example doesn't show much since all but one of the notes are right on an 1/8th note beat. Leaving the 16th hats in probably would show the swing better. nitpicking comments aside, this is great, can't wait to watch more!

Just discovered your channel - subscribed, and really enjoying your work. Great to hear some vocals on the Delly in some of your videos! A quick question - if you reduce the length of a clip to 3/4 (12 steps) in the middle of a 4/4 arrangement, will it playback correctly? I have a Roland verselab which converts everything back to 4/4, forcing my 3/4 bar to repeat beat one, which ruins the song and drives me nuts. The Deluge is much more capable, but I want to make sure it can do this before I consider buying one (for the second time - I had one a few years ago, and really didn't commit properly to learning it).
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
Thanks for the kind words! So you can set the sequence length to whatever you want (12 steps for example) and it will play back just those 12 steps and then loop. If you do this before hitting play, no issues. However, if you do this WHILE playing, you have to choose the right moment to do it. So while the sequence is starting to play, if you reduce the sequence length you won't hear any changes until it gets to the end, and will loop back seamlessly. If you do this AS the playhead hits where you're reducing the sequence, you'll hear a quick hiccup. Same as for extending it. Fortunately, you can quickly change the length and fix it, but I thought it worth pointing out. Hope that helps answer your question :)
@pianoyan
@pianoyan Год назад
@@RSKT_music ah, that’s great, thanks. I don’t want to change it while it’s playing, I want to insert an odd length measure in the middle of an arrangement before hitting play, so that’s perfect.
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
@@pianoyan ah right! Well that's definitely possible then :)

Question for everyone here. How do y'all handle basic song structure (intro, chorus, verse, bridge etc.) on the Deluge? I find it super awkward and hard to keep track of which "page" belongs to which section if I'm using the same instrument.
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
Hey there! So this is something I'll be covering in great detail in the Deluge Workflow Guide, which is still slowly being produced. There's lots of different ways you can go about it, each with their pros and cons. Something you could experiment in the meantime is setting up your sections in the arranger view, and leaving a space or two between them so they're easily identifiable (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro). Then use the arranger to queue up those parts of the song, then jump back into song view and bring in whatever other instruments you need. I hope that makes sense, it's kind of hard to explain in text.
@wiegraf9009
@wiegraf9009 Год назад
@@RSKT_music Thanks for the reply! I think I get the basic concept but I'll keep an eye out for your workflow video so I can make sure!

When I push shift+ in the way you showed, it didn't duplicate the first bar's track. When I did it again, it did duplicate something, but it was the first bar, 1 bar of silence, 1 bar of the first track again, and 1 bar of silence. Do you know how things went wrong here?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music 11 месяцев назад
Hmm, not too sure I'm afraid. It should basically duplicate whatever you have displayed on the sequencer. If you're too zoomed in, it won't copy what is outside of view.

I know you can record effect automation. However, has anyone ever found a way to smoothly automate an effect (e.g. LPF) over a period of steps? Like smoothly fade in a low pass during the fist four steps?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
Not really. I think the workflow would be to use a parameter lock on the step after the first four, and record your smooth fade live using the knob. It should immediately jump to the stepped automation when you reach the end. Not ideal, but it's a way of doing it I suppose.
@tolikfilter
@tolikfilter Год назад
Hi thank for your tutorial. I have a question. Is it possible to change pitch per step in kits/midi mode?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
Hi there - you can definitely do this, and there's a couple of ways to go about it. First of all, turning the "custom 1" effects knob controlls the pitch. That said, it's a bit hard to dial in the exact pitch you want per step. Another thing you could try (for better control) is to copy the sample to another kit row, dial in the pitch using the transpose control, and then you've got a lot more say over what pitch each sample is :)

When slicing samples can you parameter lock pitch per step?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Год назад
You can. Custom 1 is mapped to pitch automatically with samples, so you can use that to automate pitch and parameter lock it.
