I can understand Zeke but not agree with him. I see his euthanaziation plan as something born from Zekes childhood Zeke was treated badly by his father, so he resents the idea of childhood. And by extent, his own. Which means he resents his own life. For Zeke, freedom is death. Similar to how Reiner wanted to kill himself for his sins, to be free from the pain. Kinda messed up but thats exactly why I love Attack on Titan
There were many moments where I desperately wanted Zeke to be gone from this show, then in a couple of chapters I emphasize with him and see him as one of the best characters in the series. I love it when great writing changes your perspective almost by surprise. I would love to hear your take on Eren's sense of freedom after you've seen the ending.
I think Zeke ends up ultimately being slave to his own biases that stem from his own experiences. Since he thought HIS life was not worth living due to him being an eldian, he assumed ALL eldian lives were not worth living; hence the euthanization plan. In a way, he was playing god, assuming that everyone else's experiences were just as his. MANGA SPOILERS BELOW: His faults and hipocrisy were pointed at in chapter 136, when he talked to Armin. Zeke didn't want to admit that 1. He cherished his time with Xsaver; 2. He was wrong to assume every eldian was as miserable as he was and better off not being born. Even if he was aware of the complexities and contradictions of the world, he was completely ignorant to much more obvious things.
I'm not certain that Eren actually agrees with Zeke on the euthanization plan. It doesn't make sense to me for Eren to wish for the death of everyone on the island when he was talking big things about killing everyone on the other side of the sea. They may both be free, but I doubt they're on the same page
Absolutely agreed, Eren is bullshitting and manipulating Zeke by telling him what he wants to hear, so that he'll trust him and help him activate the Founder. The Eren I know would NEVER in a million years say that the greatest gift is not being born into this world at all. That goes against the most fundamental truth of his character, that being that being born is the greatest gift of all, because everyone is born free to make choices about their lives. He'd never be ok with a plan that takes away his people's most fundamental right, the right to be born, to exist. He would never abandon humanity as he's always known it and his friends. Even if he's pushing them away right now, I'm sure he's doing that to protect them. I think on a level he wishes he could be as impartial and free as Zeke, but knows that he isn't. He knows that the only freedom he has right now is in the choices he makes. All the choices he has are horrific and bad, but he still has to choose, because not choosing means everything is already lost. And while Zeke's plan means the extinction of all Eldians, Eren's gonna want to go to the biggest possible extreme to protect them by using Zeke to start the Rumbling. I think he does want to break the cycle, but he'd rather do so at the cost of the rest of the world than his people. And if it means he has to become the devil incarnate to do so, he will do it.
I can see that. Remember Erens perspective is different from Zeke. Zeke loathes life because of how badly Grisha treated him. But Eren is different. His mom said my boy is special just because he was born into.this world. Erens upbringing was different because Grisha learned from his mistakes... kinda. Eren: Because I was born into this world Zeke: I wish I had never been born at all
Eren and Zeke are born from similar pain but reacted in opposite ways: one is ready to end his entire race while the other will do anything to protect his family from the rest of the world.
To me, zeke has always represented the reality of this world. He told us in 137 about how everything is just pieces of matter meant to just multiply. I don't think there is any free will in aot to be honest. It is just eren moving forward towards it.
the problem with Zeke's plan is that his view on life is just his own. Several million people shouldn't be forced to die just because one person thought it was better that way. And to say that the word of AoT is far more violent than ours is a bit far fetched. Titans are just a different way to kill people but the amount is the same.
I never liked Zeke, especially after Episode 138, which is why I thoroughly enjoyed seeing his smug face contorted into an ugly terrified mask whenever he sees Levi tore Titans to kill him. Zeke can only see his euthanasia plan as the absolute solution whereas Eren was able to see the consequences of his action and inaction through time loops. Zeke can control Ymir because of his royal blood while Eren was able gan Ymir's trust through empathy.

But I unsubscribed because I heard that attack on titan manga finished and I new that you were going to make a video about it. Granted I could have not watched it and turned off notifications but more videos of attack on titan would have shown up on my home RU-vid page and I would have gotten spoilers so I unsubscribed from you and the rest of my anime channels that I have been watching. But I got all the mangas and finished the story and I am back. No hard feelings right?
