Made in Abyss is not a kid's show. It's a show with kids.

Dunno about Reg's, but Riko's shoddy behavior is definitely intentional. She's had a multitude of very questionable views and choices and very little regret, which is perfectly in line with how all the white whistles are deranged in one way or another.

Reg didn't spend as much time in the village as Riko, so he had no attachment whatsoever. However, Riko experienced being with village's folks like Maa, Moogie and Majikaja. Yes, there were bad ppl out there but also good ones too. That's why she asked Reg to stop Faputa and Reg rarely declines Riko's request. And this episode seems to imply that Reg once fired all his Incinerator shots because he mentioned in flashback that he had only one shot left and in first ep he fired one to save Riko then he was found with amnesia

Faputa's rage is really understable tho, the villagers were the one who tricked her mother into giving endless dying children while she lost all of her humanity. Then she found Reg, the first person who actually cared about her, and she kept waiting for him hoping he'll come back but when he actually came back he lost all of his memories of her. Basically Faputa was always alone and all the people who she met always betrayed or abandoned her (at least from her perspective). She's such a tragic character and i really hope she'll find peace in some way :(

Oh boy there’s a lot that you misunderstood or are being willfully ignorant about. This might be the worst summary of an episode I’ve ever heard. Let’s get started. I agree on one point. Reg’s indecisiveness and lack of resolve is incredibly sorry and Faputa rightfully calls him foolish for it. That’s the point. That why she says he’s kind. Because he’s naïve. 2:31. Of course he’s surprised. Knowing someone is going to do something violent doesn’t mean you won’t still react in shock at the gravity of said violence. You yourself point out just how brutal faputas massacre is. Reg has also never seen her be cruel. 3:25 she’s clearly a girl. She’s a princess dude smh i hope this is a joke 3:45 “the reg” lmao *when Reg says he’s going to stop her he clearly means to stop her violence and save the innocents. Not everyone inside is complicit in irumyuuis torment. Only the ganja. The rest of the hallows have no clue. As far as opening the hole, Reg had no choice but to fire the incinerator to get the arm back and save Nanachi. It’s not hard to understand. And he clearly expected her to do what she said, hence his warning to Riko and the others to hide when he passed out. He almost told them verbatim that Faputa was going to go on a rampage. What are you talking about? 5:45 once again refer to the above 6:32 he is clearly not saying that. Read the captions. He’s asking why she did that because he didn’t know that she had done it unlike Riko. She’s confessing to him In this scene and he rightfully wants to know why 7:33 not a kids show, come on…its rated tv-14. Its an anime. Featuring children. The focus on children in a form of media doesn’t make said product for children. Haven’t you ever seen American media? I.T? The Babadook? The good son? The boondocks? South Park? 8:00 he said he couldn’t stop her because he understands how she feels now and that her mother is the village. He also doesn’t want her to lose herself in her revenge. You literally wanted him to let her rampage and he’s telling her he can’t bring himself to stop her because he understands her feelings and you’re *mad* about it? You’re just as inconsistent and incoherent as you say Reg is lol 8:20 he didn’t just “let her in the village, no problem.” Once again he had no choice to get the arm back and rescue nanachi. Reg and Riko do not want any suffering to continue. They are trying to prevent needless slaughter. Besides only Riko knows the history. Reg only knows when he gets his flashbacks. Beforehand he was unaware of irumyuuis strife. He only knows that she is faputas mother and she wants to get inside to save her

Reg didn’t really have a lot of options when he opened the entrance to Faputa. Riko and many others were in danger because the will of the village ”Juroimoh” saw Reg as danger to the village. He made the choise and probably hoped that Faputa can be reason with after. So in this episode he tried to stop her and as they fought he keeps on remembering more about her and understanding more how important this task is for her. And in the final scene Reg ask or begs her to tell a way to stop her.

I love people skipping context like it's COVID. Guys I believe (personally) some context needs to be provided: 1) Reg told Faputa she could not keep destroying the Village because Nanatchi is still liked to them and then Faputa confronts him, that is the whole point to her "You are too kind", let's us be reminded it was the same with Bondrew, he was crying when he thought he killed him, even knowing the horrible tings he did, even knowing how it hurted Nanatchi and how it hurted him so why, oh why are people surprised that Reg wants to stop her? Is not delusion or out of nowhere, is so on character it hurts. 2) Riko has been portrayed as someone willing to see every angle of a situation, she UNDERSTANDS the Sovereign of Dawn but is unable to forgive him or accept his methods, she admires the Abyss despite feeling the horrors on her own skin and she want to learn more, and she has spend most of her time in the Village, with the open minded view that non all the villagers where bad or even I'll intended, a thing that comes from Belaf too, Más, Jaja, Moogie and Vueko, the reason why Iru's story is so devastating is that we were there every step of the way, Riko wasn't, is like having your childhood house, filled with friends and good memories being the same house that a long time ago was used to abuse, sell, massacre and dispose of people. I know for a fact most people will never get rid of their home or wish I'll upon the ones that where there, is an old story, horrible, devastating, but an story. If you didn't saw it, the impact would be smaller. Also also Riko is not stupid, she knows for a fact (since a lot of narehate don't even know the story of the village) that s lot of them, perhaps the vast majority are innocent, dwellers that could go down but not progress, surviving. 3) Vueko in her story makes sure to tell you Wazu did the crime all alone, there wasn't anyone else to see or stop him, by the time they ate the first child, Iru was quite far gone, unable to speak, to the point that Wazu tries to use Vueko to calm her down, but she could not speak her wishes. Everyone belief in what Wazukyan said including giving Iru a "royal title", he manipulated everyone to get his results. The manipulation is so obvious that's why Wazu keeps Belaf alive, to keep feeding a "true omen" to his visions.

I think the reason why he tried to stop Faputa is because (and I am just remembering what I read on the wiki), Reg loses memory whenever he uses the laser cannon. Thus, he probably forgot about that part unintentionally.

You can't really blame everyone in the village for eating the children. The first villager ate the children... not the one that came later to the village. There are many other innocent villagers. Do you think Maa deserved to get killed because other people committed a crime or do you think their existence alone is a crime?

4:34 I mean, I was rewatching this anime, and in the beginning literally episode 1 lol, Reg fell unconscious after using his laser to protect Riko from a monster. Riko then hooked him up to an electric contraption to wake him up and made him lose his memories as a side effect. More might be revealed in the manga but it was rather convenient and mysterious as you say.

I believe he lost his memory saving Riko in Ep1 since he says to Faputa he only has 1 shot left in his arm and he doesn't know what will happen to him if he uses it. Then he gets rebooted with the electric charge he got from Riko and lost his memory in the process.

THE TRANSITION FROM THE TEARS INTO THE FLASHBACK HAD ME DYING....

Riko and Reg are not the wisest and mature protagonist you'll be expecting. So from a viewers perspective you can't really rely to them to make right moral decisions at any given situations, after all they're just kids in a grim world of abyss which is the whole premise of the show.

This entire arc is very much inspired by various Japanese myths and legends that…aren’t really fun lol. Like I would not be surprised if Wazukyan has probably already cannibalized people being a sailor and all despite the Susanoo reference. In fact the 3 Sages thing is a giant allusion to the 3 sacred children of Izanagi, who were born after he cleansed himself with water after visiting Yomi, the netherworld in order to save his sister/wife Izanami. Of course it’s heavily implied by the series that said children are tainted by that darkness, with Vueko = Amaterasu, Belaf = Tsukuyomi, and Wazukyan = Susanoo. Poor Irumyuui seems to be based on another goddess of food named Ukemochi, killed for creating food through “dirty” means thus making said food “false” somehow, yet whose indestructible corpse continues to produce food…food that is used to “create new life.” Faputa herself is implied to be based on the goddess of food and foxes, Inari, but because Faputa is more like the child of both Vueko and Imuyuui, she’s got the Sun power thing going on. Reg is the real dog here for sure though.

Faputa is a beast going on revange rampage on the villagers and they're the ones who tricked her mother into the hot mess and losing all of her humanity oh my god I'm like"Wow she's a beast at this" no one can't beat her she's very fast I do feel very for Faputa and her mother the villagers got what they deserved.

I enjoy watching your Made in abyss videos , it's a sad show but you still managed to make it sounds hilarious.

Why are you acting like everyone in the village is bad? Or that everyone in there is responsible for what happened with Irumyui? Theres a lot of people there that are just living their lives.

Jesus, you misunderstood a lot of things, please rewatch the episode, and maybe season 2 again to.

The thing is revenge is never the answer also just because some of the villagers can be bad or do bad things doesn't mean all of them are the same. And last thing they weren't in the wrong because they where only doing this out of survival life or death situations. Either eat the babies (which the babieswhere going to die anyway) or suffer a painful death. They was only doing what is best for everyone and sometimes when faced with certain doom there is no right answer and u just have to bite the bullet. Faputa is wrong for trying to get revenge because they all already payed their value sacrificing themselves.

I guess we missing the point here, trying to put our value here is wrong way to do it, what we can do is understand the value of this society whatever that value is, if we can understand or even begin to comprehend whatever it is. Faputa is immortal she cannot be stopped the only logical way to do it is letting her get her revenge whatever it is and the rebuild from start, just like the inception of this village in the end something new is gonna give way. It's very pessimistic existence people will die and they will keep on dying one way or another either by Faputa hand or another and from that ashes whatever or whoever left will build something new. It just show no matter what, no matter how dire the situation is life will go on.

Riko is Evil, she left bondrewd alive even after what he did to nanachi, reg, and many other children. But here she took the side of the villagers even after knowing that faputa gave her arm to save nanachi from belaf.
