Hey everyone, I'm glad this video receives such strong support to this day! I will be releasing a new Pikmin video in the next week or so and hopefully more Pikmin videos in the near future as well, so be sure to subscribe if you enjoyed this type of content!
I really think Miyamoto won't ever let Pikmin completely die. When the first game was shown he was very vocal about this being his baby. I think it's more like Nintendo the company going to him and saying "hey Miyamoto san if you make us a new zelda and a new mario we'll let you take some dudes to make a pikmin" because while Nintendo doesn't see the franchise as big money they also don't want Miyamoto to do what so many other fathers of iconic IPs have done in recent years (ie leaving the company to make their own).
The reason for Kirby being in Olimars Classic mode is because traveling to other planets is something hes known for, with it being relevant to the plots of Super Star, 64, Return to Dreamland, and Star Allies (Dedede was also a part of those last 3). The final world of Squeak Squad was also set in the space outside Planet Popstar So Kirbys even more of a space explorer than Olimar, Kirb's been to LOTS of different plants
Minor gripe: Kirby is actually pretty heavily space-themed in many of its biggest games. Kirby 64, Return to Dreamland, Mass Attack, Planet Robobot, and Star Allies, to name a few. Inter-planetary travel is somewhat common in Kirby.
Aside of those, space still has relevance across other games: - Squeak Squad's final zone and Milky Way Wishes happen out of the atmosphere of Dreamland - Some of Epic Yarn's stages are space themed - Multiple final battles happen in space (Nightmare, the Dark Matter species (including Dark Nebula), Marx, etc)
@@givemeliberty700 hope so, I'm also hoping the theory about the stopwatch is correct. People think the reason it isn't ticking is to signify that there is once again no time limit. Another theory is that you won't be required to go to your ship at night, allowing you to play at night at the cost of higher difficulty, and maybe with a more open world design for the game's areas. It would also be cool if they kept the ability to replay from the last 100 days, but without the day count capping at 100.
The bulbmin had a presence in like 4 dungeons in pikmin 2, where they debuted and died. If you prepared like most people would and went into a dungeon with 100 pikmin, you wouldn't even get any assuming you were careful (which could actually screw you over in the submerged castle, but let's be honest there's nobody who did that deathless). I'm surprised ANYONE actually remembers the things. It's entirely believable that some players never even knew you could have them!
I didn’t do it deathless first try but I have and still will do it deathless. I just limit the amount of blues to 70 because while there are 40 bulbmin I only ever need 30 and I convert half of them to white and purple pikmin anyways
I love the bulbmin though ;(. It was so sad to realize I couldn't take them with me and that I had to leave them behind the first time I found them. It was also still kinda sad to convert them but it was the only way.
@@jojough8283 don't get me wrong, I like them too, I was just pointing out how little there were in the game. I hope if they return we get the ability to keep them in some manner, even if it means nerfing them so they don't completely overshadow every other pikmin with their universal immunity.
Admittedly I'm KIND OF a new fan, I didn't play 1 and 3 until a couple years ago, but I first played Pikmin 2 back in like 2012. I loved it, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to play the other games, but whatever. I was so ecstatic when Pikmin 4 was FINALLY announced, but I can't imagine how it felt for long time fans. Anyway, PIKMIN 4!!!!
That's how I felt about Warcraft 3, when I discovered it like 8 months before the remaster was announced! ... I can't imagine the unbelievable pain that the 15+ year fans felt when that turned out the way it did lmao.
For the full decade waiters like me? Yeah it's been rough. Not many games give you this back-yard-into-a-whole-world style, but recently a few have popped up. Tinykin for switch I saw looked pretty fun, grounded for pc and Xbox is multi-player survival but without a ton of minions, you've got your basic gardener games but those don't really scratch that itch It's been a long, long time but I'm glad we're here
Bulbmin are actually a new type of Pikmin. Olimar says himself it’s a parasitic form of Pikmin that takes controls of its hosts. Pretty interesting and cool that there’s actually another type of Pikmin right under our big round noses
Hey all- my camera for the live action scenes glitched a bit. I was able to salvage it, but apologies for the occasional visual glitch! I hope you enjoy the video still :)
Okay hey, you seriously are incredibly nit picky and pessimistic about legit everything, you seriously got pissed that the cute no brainer films made purely for cuteness and entertainment which btw everyone loves because it wasn’t action packed. Come on, stop and enjoy the damn game jesus

Something funny about Olimar's helmet in Smash shattering is that people in the NYC Nintendo store reacted pretty audibly at it. Probably cause it was smash, but just thought it was funny.
I'm glad you gave Hey Pikmin a fair review - the gameplay is average but there is still quite a bit of charm. I appreciate the return of the piklopedia and treasure hoard after their absence in Pikmin 3 U.
I do enjoy pikmin bloom, but it's an absolute battery drainer for my phone, so I had to uninstall it. Hope Pikmin 4 does so well, they get right on with Pikmin 5 and we only need to wait 4 years next time.
In my opinion Pikmin 3 deluxe was sorta good because now i dont have to make an excuse to buy the missions in the wiiu version and can just play them on deluxe
I really hope they add bulbmin back. But of course they really need to make them have a more unique design, having immunity to electric, water and fire is a bit over powered. In my opinion they should definitely make bulbmin do more damage than any other pikmin.
The Distant Planet stage is more based on Awakening Wood than anything else. There's Cloaking Burrownits and Burgeoning Spiderworts in the background, both elements exclusive to Pikmin 2. Which begs the question why didn't they just call the stage Awakening Wood but, knowing how, ahem, *similar* the name sounds to something else they probably just thought it best to change it
Pikmin bloom and Pokémon go are not made for Americans cause we usually live in suburbs and have nearly any walkable areas. I recently moved to a city and these games slap now cause there is so much to do and since you can walk everywhere you can always be doing something on the games. I prefer pikmin to Pokémon go at this point since I played Pokémon go when it came out and didn’t love the air system and how now people have been playing for the entire life span and you can never win gyms :). But with pikmin bloom you just can play it while you walk since it requires little interaction and if you plant flowers you can be strategic on what colors and where you plant cause if there are already white flowers where you are walking you won’t plant many of you choose to plant white flowers so you plant other colors and sometimes that means you gotta look at the map and take different routes if someone came through with the color your using or you just switch colors while planing. I also like that it’s partially a daily log app so you can leave yourself notes on what you did that day and photos so you remember what you were doing months ago from just a glance at some photos
It's funny to mention that Miyamoto worked on the Pikmin shorts then subsequently the Mario Movie, because just recently Nintendo bought Dynamo Pictures, now renamed Nintendo Pictures, and they were the company that worked on said Pikmin shorts. It all comes full circle.
According to Good Vibes Gaming video the 2d Mario(group 10) team at Nintendo EPD also handles Pikmin development and collaboration. 2015 is also when Nintendo consoloidated Nintendo EAD(their internal development) and Nintendo SPD(Collaboration with external development teams) into Nintendo EPD. Nintendo was probably still figuring out what group would handle Pikmin so Pikmin 4 was likely quietly canceled as it was never fully announced. Also Pikmin 3 Deluxe was also ported by Eighting not EPD group 10 as they had just finished Mario Maker 2 the year before.
I get why Nintendo treated Bulbmin like a secret Pikmin type during Pikmin 2’s release, considering their seldom few appearances in the game itself, but their complete erasure from the series is too far. Like you said, it’s already egregious that Smash Bros, a series that’s all about giving obscure Nintendo characters a cameo, refuses to acknowledge an entire Pikmin type since Brawl. I can partially understand why Pikmin 3/Deluxe decided to scrap Bulbmin early on, given that they didn’t plan on bringing back caves, but I still think they could have brought them back for the challenge mode levels as a situational type like they did for Purple & White Pikmin, especially for the ones that are reminiscent of the caves from 2. As for Hey! Pikmin, I don’t know why they couldn’t have gotten a little cameo in the background of some caves, but I also don’t understand why Purple & White Pikmin didn’t have an appearance despite their colors being present on the Master Onion, so it’s weirdly fair. The most obtuse exclusion has to be Pikmin Bloom; the way the game is designed could support infinite Pikmin types (that’s how they get away with having all main 7 types at once), so them not having a special event where you can collect a rare Bulbmin is a missed opportunity, I see no justification other than them not caring. All this and more is why I really hope Bulbmin get their comeback in Pikmin 4 in one way or another. Given that the word “Pikmin” in the title is literally green, the Bulbmin’s idle glow and map icons being green, the P in Pikmin having a white flower, and the Bulbmin also having a white flower, I have a strong feeling that we’ll be seeing Green Pikmin that are supposed to be the Parasitic Pikmin controlling the Bulbmin as described in Olimar’s journal entry. Being able to create your own Bulbmin after a 10+ year absence would be more than enough to justify the wait for me.
I love all the attention to detail in this video; it's very informative and I love the style of commentary and editing! This video is great and helps fuel my hype for Pikmin 4!!
First of all, I groaned then screamed seeing the Pikmin bloom then Pikmin 4, and something awesome I noticed was the night before the direct Pikmin 3 deluxe was on the futures page in the eshop
I actually heavily disliked Pikmin 3 Deluxe's new whistle: it's way too wide and covers basically the entire screen which is very annoying when you only want a small specific Pikmin group, AND this makes it take longer for the whistle to raise vertically, thereby making it way harder and longer to whistle back pikmin that are high up - ESPECIALLY with stuff like the spicy plants where the pikmin need to be whistled twice. Extremely annoying, I hate it.
24:35 Slight correction here you can still cheese the fruits (i accidentally did it first try my first play through) but all you have to do is be at a certain angle and/or charge the Wing Pikmin multiple times in order to cheese the fruits, the deluxe didn't fix it completely it's just harder to do
@@JeffCompass I agree they are immune to fire, water, electricity, and poison no hazards harm them so they are God among the pikmin also they are my favorite Pikmin
Thought about including it! But wasn't part of the road to Pikmin 4 technically so didn't think it matched the scope of this video. Possibly another time.
25:32 Rare case of a Pikmin fan with somebody to play local multiplayer with here! Co-op runs fine. I'm sure if Single Player ran at 60fps there'd be a noticeable drop, but since the whole game is 30fps it all looks very consistent.
Apparently, you can watch over 6000 hours of youtube about videogames and live a whole life as a videogame enjoyer and somehow not ever hear about Hey! Pikmin! It genuinely felt like a prank but no, that’s a real game that nintendo made lmaooo
YES! Finally, someone who agrees Pikmin 3 wasn't that amazing. 2 was the best for me, and 3 was the worst. I think it's ok, but definitely not as good as 1 and 2. Pikmin 4 probably will be very similar to three though, unfortunately. At least, it looks that way with what little info we have.
This was a great video to watch. I'm interested if you take a look of the yoshi island series. Everyone believe Yoshi's Island is the only good game in the series and they think every yoshi game after yoshi's island is bad.
You release Pikmin 3 again because: 1. It was an amazing game that not many people had a chance to play (because they didn't have a Wii U) 2. Most Switch owners haven't played it. 3. To increase awareness and excitement for Pikmin on the Switch so that more people will buy Pikmin 4. 4. They weren't THAT close to releasing Pikmin 4.
I really hope that the forth game lets you play as all six of the characters Before each day starts you can pick out three of the six characters to go out for the day, and they’ll have special dialogue while exploring
Hopefully r/pikmin won't be as insane Also people will buy wario and some people will buy pikmin their series are both dead though Also bulbmin is the wario of the pikmin franchise
i'm surprised you didn't mention the snagret assist trophy added in smash ultimate, i always thought pikmin enemies would make for perfect bosses or assist trophies in smash so it's nice to see them do a little of that
Just to think: It took 10 whole years to get to pikmin 3 after pikmin 2 And then it happened again: We had to wait another ten years before we finally get pikmin 4...so Pikmin 5 launches in 2033, im calling it now
Wish you would’ve mentioned Pikmin being the only other Nintendo franchise aside from Mario being represented at Super Nintendo World in Japan. There are hidden Pikmin throughout the land, and even in the merchandise bags!
Those first two Pikmin games were so good that they deserve HD remasters. Pikmin 2 will always be my favorite (unless Pikmin 4 tops it). Pikmin 3 was just too darn short. It felt like I was only 1/3 of the way through the game, yet I was at the end.
I had dreams in some new pikmin series, you fight some ACTUAL PEOPLE! Real creatures of the planet, and same as like you beat the other creatures, they too get beat down and get turned into more Pikmin.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe's Co-Op runs well, but you'll never believe that a game based entirely around being able to skip a bunch of waiting and walking, by switching to another character, is infinitely less fun when you remove that ability. Now each player is playing way less of the game, and those gaps are filled in by waiting for things to happen constantly getting annoyed at the other whenever they open the map.
Yeah I'm surprised they didn't realize the map issue when they built the co-op mode, it's really annoying. It should just show the map on that player's side and not pause the game. I appreciate being able to play with two people though
@@annasullivan2564 It's doubly weird since the Bonus Modes do have maps for each player you'd think they'd find some way to make that work in the main story.
@@Whispernyan That's extra weird then! I assumed it would be changing too much of the code to be worth doing, but that almost seems like there was no excuse.
i hope they add online battle modes but i'm not holding my breath over it i've always wanted to play bingo battle with someone...but none of my friends play pikmin so it's just extremely unfair playing against people who don't know how to play the game :(
Personal opinion, I think that Louis could be an interesting clone character for Olimar. I think that they should lean into the speed and aerial prowess of Olimar, while making Louis a little more heavy and more focused on smash attacks. Maybe he only grabs purple pikmin, idk. So he's stronger, but his range is shorter and when the winged pikmin save him, he has to let the purples fall to their death
