I've said it already, but ... I have only just discovered your channel, pretty recently. However. Goes without saying, I have subscribed, and a fan! You seem to have a profound taste and an eye out for the coolest shit out there, both vintage and recent, both wax and erm..beer LoL)) I guess it helps you are similar age like myself even though our journeys might have been very different ... Great shout with that ‘Cancer’ album Dennis… & I agree with your comment about James bringing more credibility to the band… & imo that’s exactly why they asked him to join… they knew what they were doing! That ‘Autopsy’ box is a thing of absolute f**king beauty mate… love that! Good luck in Matts giveaway my friend!🤘🏻
I mean when I heard he was in the band it made the band seem like a legit contender in the Death Metal sweepstakes, haahha. I already loved the first record but it was kinda corny while dsr had a maturity to it and they proved it for sure. Later Marc!
Great entry man! Good in depth questions and killer records. I need to give that Pleasures of the Flesh some more spins again! That Celtic record was quite disappointing when it came out. From the opening track. I wanted more Morbid Tales!! Sweet Autopsy set. Ill jump on this contest too.
What's up Jason, yeah Pleasures is underrated imo and has some killer songs on it, unfortunately it could really use a remaster which for some reason it never got. I always thought the sound was pretty weak and over produced, check out the demo from 86 with Baloff doing the songs, so fucking killer!!
Hi Dennis!! nice entry to Matt's contest and superb stuff you showed like that Autopsy pressing, it looks really awesome and well done too. cheers and be well
Love that Penetralia shirt. 🤘👍 I own the entire Hypocrisy discography. It's all good to me. The first 2 are among absolutely essential old school Death Metal albums. I feel the Fourth Dimension still maintains a good amount of the raw sound of the first 2. The rawness Penetralia and Osculum Obscenum and Masse Broberg's savage guttural vocals were top notch. Did you ever notice the track near the end of Penetralia, has guitar parts thst sounds just like the Mission Impossible theme song?
Ha, never noticed the end of the guitar or just don't remember it. I love the first 2 and Fourth is okay but it doesn't get a lot of play, I honestly just listened to it again last year and before that prob. a good 10 years. I really don't recall anything after that even though I own a few of the records. Cheers man!!
I absolutely love 'Into the Pandemonium'. To me it's a masterpiece (as is T.M.Therion and the early EPs, but in a different way). + some varied creative influencies including postpunk-and tribute vocal pasages to Rozz Williams. Cheers
I actually liked it a lot more when ITP came out , I think I was looking for more varied genres at the time though and it filled the void, still has some bangers on it for sure. I think I was getting into Christian Death at the time as well so it makes sense. Cheers!
Man all these records rule ok... but when you showed the Monsters lp, I lIterally shouted YESSS ha! I have that up on my wall behind me in my vids, underneath it I have the 'Dinner With Drac' lp by the Children Of The Night who are basically the same band I think. Love that gimmicky fun Horror stuff so much Dennis. You may be able to see the Doctor Druid's Haunted Seance or The Vampyre At The Harpsichord records on my wall behind me in some of my vids too ha! Great vid and class picks from your collection mate.
@@blackleathereyes3673 Oh shit dude, I didn't know you collected those Halloween records as well, that's awesome!! I have that Dinner With Drac on 45 still sealed, ahahah. We should do a stream showing all that horror shit, or possible come hang on our Horror stream we do over at Gas Masks , I'm sure you have a sick collection to show off and talk about. Let me know. Cheers
A Lot of people don't realize that Peter Tagtren didn't provide the Vocals on the early Hypocrisy albums. His first lead Vocals appeared on the Fourth Dimension
I need to pick up that Cancer album. I'm late to the party with them. Only have the first one snd the latest one. Pleasures Of The Flesh is a fucking beast of a record. Killer riffs. Into The Psndamonium is indeed a strange one. Has it's moments though, Mexican Radio! Some weirdness on it for sure. Defecation is an underrated record, killer UK Grindcore. Second time this week I've seen that Autopsy release. I have the regular 12' version. No idea it existed until a couple days ago! Great choices Dennis!
There were Bee noises on Parasite. Zero sings his best on Pleasures of the Flesh . Unfortunately POTF is not an album that delivers anything really Thrash Metal. The Testament debut stomps all over Potf , as does Bonded By Blood. I just listened to Nuclear Assault - Game Over, then followed it up with Potf and it sounded like Radio music in comparison. Death Angel - Frolic and Act 3 were disappointing compared to Ultra Violence. It seems like Thrash Metal bands went Commercial as the 1980s progressed . That's why Death Metal music became a necessity
So what I think the noises are on Parasite if i'm not mistaken are flying Piranha taken from Piranha 2 which was like a sequel or homage to the first song, at least thats what always made sense to me since I first heard it. First DA and Testament destroy anything that they did after it imo as well.
Pleasures of the Flesh was a well written and performed album, but not a very good Thrash Metal album. Fabulous Disaster was better, but Toxic Waltz was absolutely stupid
For me Pleasures was a let down compared the intensity of Bonded but it's grown on me over the years, but just sounds flat to me for some reason, If any record needing a remaster imo that's it.
