THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is the BEST movie I've ever seen! 

What really gets me is Lily being SO upset about Andy being interested in fashion. Meanwhile; she can recognize a brand new Marc Jacobs purse in .2 seconds and knows the price by heart... the hypocrisy of it all

This is the same thing with Sharpay from High School Musical. She was villainized for being ambitious and fashion forward by her peers like she didn't help them out and come through for them several times. She was also a theatre kid before any of them and they still had the audacity to sweep in and steal her moments to shine and show off what she had been working her entire life for.

I remember being young and hating Miranda, then being a little older and hating Nate and her friends (I still do, obviously) but I think the end of the movie has a great message about everything (aside from getting back with Nate, which is a MISTAKE LOL). Miranda never took her personal life seriously enough and was willing to cut everyone in her life down to move forward (mainly thinking about Stanley Tucci's character, as well as Emily's.) I think Andy was right for not wanting to be like Miranda, and then being horrified at the fact that she pushed Emily aside for the job. Still, Andy needs to have a personal life and career goals, AND love herself which is what the Runway job taught her. She should have moved forward with a man that wants her for who she is, and stayed friends with people like Stanley's character who are kind hearted but also know what they want in life. If she wouldn't have dated Nate the ending would have been perfect! All the men she sleeps with in this movie suck though, unfortunately. As do her friends. ;-; just keep doing you Andy!

i watched this movie every single day for like a year straight when i was in elementary school. my family hated me for it but what was i supposed to do? its a top tier movie

angelikas enthusiasm for this movie is so contagious i love it. absolute gem of a movie, i think this is where a lot of ppls love for fashion started

Nate truly is one of the worst film boyfriends ever. He has no respect for Andy, all he wants is a hot doormat.

The boyfriend is for sure the villain but I sometimes don’t agree with Miranda’s treatment of Emily, especially when Emily is sick! Yes the job is tough but Emily has sacrificed everything for this job and should be rewarded like Andy

I was obsessed with this movie in my early teenage years and I hate to admit that I used to like the boyfriend but watching it now in my early twenties after the things that I've been through with work and relationships I just get it and I love love Miranda's character

The reason for the boyfriend and friends existing is (in my opinion) to represent Andie's subconscious doubt about her job. In a book it's easy to describe what a person's thinking, without that character saying it out loud. In a movie unless you have a narrator over the top saying "Andie was now beginning to wonder if she was cut out for her job", you need another character to represent those doubts by causing confrontation. If the boyfriend didn't exist, someone else would - a concerned parent who Andie calls, perhaps. Don't like him as a character but the confrontations he caused is EXACTLY why he's there. Just my two cents!

Pleaseee keep this series going! I don’t care for makeup anymore and the drama online is just exhausting. I watch for your personality so this is perfect!

a small detail i really like is Andy waits a bit before telling Miranda the names. She wanted to give Emily the chance to get it and not just undercut her but then she also saves her last minute.

I watched that movie with my Mom almost 10 years ago when I was Like 13 and I legit asked my Mom why the Boyfriend got a Problem with Andys job, Miranda was Just sooo iconic And Then we both found the series ugly Betty and that was Just so perfect and similar

Yas, this movie is ICONIC. One of my top five movies of all time and my number one comfort movie. It's the best thing to just put on in the background or have a full movie night. I hate both love interests in the movie. Nate was a whiny baby who couldn't support his girlfriend and Christian was a creep wou wouldn't take no as an answer. Nigel and Emily are both iconic and because of this movie, I absolutely love Stanley Tucci. And of course, Miranda Priestly is in a league of her own

Rare opinion on the birthday scene: I literally despise birthdays. They’re not special. Literally everyone in the world has one each year. For adults it’s especially ridiculous. It’s a day on a calendar. Don’t even get me started on people who celebrate birthday months.

My favourite role for Meryl Streep was Karen from Out of Africa. No one can do accents like her and I truly think Saoirse Ronan has the same “it” factor when it comes to acting.

Once she sees it, have a feeling it's gonna be top tier for her like it is for SO many people because Plagues ALONE is just stunning animation. its the fact that the changes andy goes through is real life as an adult and the shit her friends and boyfriend complain about are all junior high drama that pisses me off. when you're a working adult, celebrating anything on a work day is extremely difficult and highly unrealistic for most adults. also the "sacrificing everything you believed in for shoes and shirts"? andy repeatedly said the clothes were an interest and mainly for work, and her change in attitude towards her job was because she genuinely respected her boss and developed an understanding of how cutthroat and interesting this world she thought was stupid really was. it was so clear her friends and boyfriend didnt actually care about her success and just waned her to stay a boring adult pick me girl.

Whoa, the last time i watched this movie was when i was really young and didnt notice all of bad behavior of the bf and friends.. all I remember from the book was the best friend having an alcohol problem that developed over the few months that she was working... but it's amazing to see this new perspective on this movie. I'll def have to check it out as an adult.

I remember, my buddy Hector was raving about this movie, and I finally sat down to watch it. Afterwards, he's like "OMG, it was so awesome, right ?!" And I have this look to my face to which he realizes I'm having one of 'those' moments, where I've got an issue, but I don't want to crap on the thing you love, and I'm like, "Oh yeah, no, it was great. Fantastic movie." To which Hector went, "But?" I sighed, and launch into a rant that has since been repeated a number of times, "Her friends are DICKS! Okay, Doug's fine, he's great, but the other two! Jesus Christ, Nate's supposed to be working to become a chef in New York City! Like, do you have ANY idea how demanding chefs are?! Or what the TIME commitment is? I've worked in kitchens, and come in to see the sous chef sleeping in his damn car! You don't get out til at least midnight, and you're basically on call all the time! And I might be able to forgive that but THE BEST FRIEND! Have you ever MET artists?! They're the handsiest people you will ever meet, and she's accusing Andy of cheating because she was off in a 'dark corner' with this guy. BITCH, your entire *gallery* was a dark corner! And yeah, he kissed her on the cheek! Even at the time of filming that wasn't out there in the art community! Flipped on her immediately, not that they blinked at taking the thousand dollar presents." Hector did not see ANY of that in the movie, and was just staring at me with his mouth open by the end of it.

i love that we have the same favourite movie omg

the problem is that Nate is written like the nagging wife trope and a bit of a man-child, he does make some points about that Andy is changing into someone else. that she's unaware off until Miranda points it out by the end of the movie. but every bit of dialogue that comes out of his mouth, makes it all about him and not about Andy. if making fun of the fashion industry is all that you have in common, then you didn't have much of a relationship to begin with. (even if Nate was understanding) that diner scene at the end was cringe, by apologizing makes it look like Andy's journey was all for naught.
