If you _really_ want to see voice actors enjoying themselves, you should watch the English dub of Ghost Stories. It's like they decided "okay, this stuff is shit, let's get high and drunk and then say whatever".
The thing with this dub is that it was made by a UK-based company with primarily British voice actors. While they put on American accents, they kept British phrasing and inflection, which is part of why the dialogue sounds kinda... unique. They also added extra profanity to make it more adult because apparently the gore and ultraviolence wasn't enough - lots of Manga Entertainment's dubs from back in the day did this.
@@Love-Sensibility there is a Canadian voice actor who used to live in Britain. He is the one and only Allan Marriott, who did get to voice Akira in the Manga UK dub.
@@vacantcrow Nah only Crybaby has the gay... the manga started slightly comedic but lost the humor became serous and extremely dark and leaves the reader depressed after finishing, the OG 70s anime is written like a superhero series, the mid 80s OVA was the first anime to adapt the manga but it didn't get a 3rd episodes and was left unfinished, then in 1999 we got another OVA that only adapted the ending of the manga, then a crossover anime with Cyborg 009 in like 2014 then we got Devilman Crybaby
Have you read Devilman? The OVA's directors totally disregarded the original work's tone, which is fine. The Japanese cast took the job seriously, as they were directed to, but the American dubbers must have seen the script and realized what kind of story this was.

I love how they react somewhat like actual human people would in these situations. I too would swear excessively if my old friend randomly reappeared with a knife and dragged me to a cave.
better then that, Ryo collected a bunch of homeless drug addicts and locked them in his basement with all the drugs and booze they could ever want in order to prepare the demonic possession ritual via their debauchery.
Just because something's old doesn't mean that it has to look bad. It's just the time and effort put into it. Compare this to Berserk 2016 and you'll see what I mean.

At 2:24 is the best. Demons are busting in trying to tear them to shreds, and they react like Old Man Go Nagai caught them egging his house and is going to call the cops.
I watched these damn movies when I was like twelve and I thought it was the hottest shit. It never even occurred to me it was a terrible 80s anime dub...

4:35 there's a lot of treasures in this dub, even some not included in this video, but this one might be my favourite. the pause between "you can call me....... DEVILMANNNNNN!!!" really sells it

emily vasak Nah dude. I disagree with your existance. The new one is just as goofy. If your gonna watch something just for the kinda awkward delivery than your doing life wrong. You gotta see it all. You gotta view it, experience it. If you just watch it to laugh at it than you are missing it.
