Thror is an absolute tank. This is one of my main armies, and if played correctly (don't use Thror's might, EVER; save it to boost Fate rolls) he can basically never die. He's amazing for hero-centric missions.
use the upgraded S4 Grim Hammer with young Thorin and his Special Rule :D they go up to S5 and then piercing strike S6. If you are sure to win the fight, fight two handed :D Love Thrors Army eventhough it is not the strongest. Hope the grim hammer return with the old King Dain.
I don't say this often when I see people talking about dwarfs but I agree with most (not quite all) of what you said and was delivered in a good clear and concise manner. So thumbs up from me :D One correction though with heroic defence, it does not make a required wound roll of a 6/4 into a 6/6. You still need a 6/4 but the dice rolls may not be modified in any way (so no might or +1 to wound). I played it wrong initially as well but was corrected by the rules writer.
Its great to see we get a thumbs up from the Dwarf specialist himself, thank you! That is a really interesting rules correction there, we have always played it as unmodified 6s to wound for both rolls. Good to know!
Great video. I have not played a game yet but have been building this army to play locally now there is a club near me open that wants to play middle earth sbg. Balin was one I'd always left out of my lists but since watching this I definitely will be including him where I can thanks
Me and a friend are entering a friendly 400pts doubles tournament in October with a double Army of Thror list (we each take 400pts,no doubling up on named heroes). Do you have any tips for list building and heroes ot take? We're currently looking at us each taking a Captain of Erebor, and then one with Thror and one with Thrain, then spamming out warriors and guardians.
Hey guys, I really enjoy your Episodes but got a few questions and some feedback :) 1: It would be awesome if you could provide some timestamps, so the different parts can be easily reached. 2: Even if you explojid Guardians of the Kings as much as possible, I think he should always have one Warrior with shield/spear to give him the 4th dice no matter what. 3: Why would you call a Heroic Challange with Shagrat against a generic Captain? I mean sure, he will decline and therefore lose the ability to call 1-2 heroic actions and maybe stand fasts with the captain, but you'r probably going to kill him anyway and therefore don't really gain anything while burning a might on your own or do I miss something? Cheers!
Hey mate, we will definitely get onto doing some timestamps, I do agree that adding a spear to that war band is a solid idea for those malestorm scenarios. As for the heroic challenge it can still be worth doing regardless since you get blood and glory if you succeed in getting the kill even if they decline. If you dont get the kill you deny the use of might which gives Shagrat a better chance to get into those heroes again in the next turn unless they spend might with another hero who might have other more desirable uses for those points of might. And if they make the mistake of accepting well thats just a free might farm.
