Actually overwhelming majority of sufi saints in history of Islam have been Sunnis. They were close to God as they understood essence of religion which is nothing but love, unity, tranquility through worship, care for humanity and charity. Question: Do you find the terms Sufi Islam or Sunni Islam in The Quraan?

Sufi can be from Sunni and Shia. A true practioner of Sufi focuses on internal aspects of islam. There are sufis who are classed as deviant and some orthodox sufis are part and percel of Sunni orthodoxy. Virtually all scholars of the past were sufi practioner. Unfortunately in the modern times, Islam has internal and external dimension. Tassawuf focuses on internal development whilst keeping in line with shari principle.

We, the Sunnis, worship God by following the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and everything we do is guided by evidence from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. As for the Sufis, their worship is by following their desires and the desires of Satan, and they have no evidence from the Qur’an or the Sunnah for their worship, and the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded us to follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

As a sunni muslim I love sufism. Sufism is not a separate sect. Sufis can be described as sunni muslims who prioritize spritiual ways to their inner world where they aim to reach Allah in their hearts. A normal sunni muslim must follow Sharia but a sufi sunni muslim must follow sharia and spritual paths additionally. So they are not contradicting sects. Shia islam is a sect which is separated politically therefore 95% of muslims are sunni muslims. Unfortunately shia muslim countries are vulnerable to be used as a partition element in all muslim world. We sunni muslims love all muslims regardless of they are sunni or shia but we all know that the base of islam is Quran and Sunna. Sunna shouldn't be considered separated from Quran. Sunna is Quran's teachings in practical life which are taught by Prophet Muhammad and we call these Sunna(behaviours, attitudes) and Hadiths(Interpreting sayings).

The act of splitting into sects is forbidden in Islam. As Muslims we should all try to follow the sunnah (the way) of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh as much as possible

Ever since i reverted i never layed my eyes on sunni and shia, or whatsoever denomination. i remember as a newly reverted i was asked if ever i was sunni or shia i said i followed what the prophet does. The quran stated never to be divided, meaning we are one ummah so i follow this and the sunnah of the prophet. The prophet is neither sunni or shia. Just follow the sunnah and read the hadith in my opinion this is more of political as it emerges after the prophet died may peace and blessing be upon him.

Sufi Islam, Sunni Islam and Shia Islam and whatever it doesn't matter. become just a true Muslim. Muslim mean "Submit to the one true God. and accept all his Angels and Prophets". if you believe this and do good deeds then heaven is for you.

There are sects in Islam ofcourse, which is explicitly forbidden by the Qur’an (to create sects). So basically what happened is that Islam as it is, in order to differentiate it from newly created sects, started being called “Sunni Islam” but That’s just Islam. The term “Sunni” only started being used to distinguish Islam from the sects. So “Sunni” Islam vs (insert any other name) is basically just Islam vs deviation and innovation.

I would just consider myself to be a muslim tho. I wont put any other label, even sunni. There would be 73 groups of islam (sects i guess) and only one of them would go to paradise. Like, considering yourself to be a muslim itself is actually choosing a group. Despite, quran 22:78 "And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [it is] the religion of your father, Abraham. He [Allah] named you "muslims" before and in this [revelation] that the messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witness over the people. ..." Even in the quran, The Creator has named the follower of islam as muslim. So, why would we put or add any other label?

All we need is the Quran, Authentic Hadith and the Sunnah . " Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided .And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor , brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire , and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided. And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good , enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful. And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment. " Quran 3:103-105

Sufism in Islam is focus on the spiritual individual effort to make closer to Allah/God though some time they break the syariah law. But Sunni is more focus on syariah law. But many people combine these two effort.

Meditation is not a Sufi thing, the Quran constantly advising us to meditate so it is an Islam thing.

This is wrong information. There’s no differences in the five pillars of Islam between the Islamic section. If you want to get information about any section, you will need to watch someone who is actually Muslim. This guy made it in a way that could be misunderstood and that was clearly happened from her saying it’s similar to Buddhism or Hinduism Sufi they still do the five prayers. They still fasting Ramadan, and they do pilgrimage, but they slightly different in the way that they spend more time together to make the prayers.

Basically sufis/shia is a culture religion from iraq/iran that branschen themselves from the main religion and sunni tradition. Islam is a religion that is VERY sensitive to any new invention in both theological and ritual aspects. This is the true form of Islam. Over the time after the death of Prophets Muhammad (peace be upon him), people are starting to innovate new tradition, new rituals, new belief in the name of Tasawwuf (Sunni calls it Tazqiatun Al Nafs for self purification). They went overboard to it, until they became a different sect. It is quite hard now to differentiate the sufis and the sunni. The only way to differentiate them is by studying Islam and back into its true principle.

Sufism is not a different sect of Islam. They are just another additional method of understanding God. They are focusing on personal experience . I bring you an example: How do you understand the sweetness of the sugar?You only can know the sweetness when you have experience of sour, machine & bitter. "You only found God when you cannot find Him." Do you understand this? If you can't understand this, meaning you do not really know God. Confusing? Basically what they said is whatever comes into your imagination is not God because Al Quran says God is not like anything. This topic won't be discussed openly because this can create chaos & debate. This is not the method of how the prophet is teaching about understanding God. When you slip, you are done. This is the reason why you can see some people creating statues of the human body with eagle heads or anything with a strange figure. They are trying to figure out what God looks like. When some small intervention from the devil comes & you are done. This why not many Muslim willing to follow this method.

The fact is that during Muhammad's (peace and blessings be upon him) time, there was no need for Sufism: it was an age of particularly pious, devout people, fully devoted to Allah, an age of direct influence from the honorable personality of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The companions literally competed in imitating the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). There was no need to teach them what they were practically always engaged in. They are like a native Arab who knows their language: they can compose poetry in their language without studying the rules of grammar. The companions and their followers, although not called Sufis, were essentially Sufis. Sufism implies dedicating one's life to the Creator and complete asceticism, submission to the Almighty in all states. This distinguished the followers of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the three generations after him - the Sahabah, the Tabi'in, and the Tabi' al-Tabi'in. These three generations are considered the best of the Muslim generations: "The best of generations are my generation, then the next, and the next." After Islam expanded its borders to many peoples and countries, the fields of religious science broadened, new and systematic directions emerged: for example, the sciences of Nahw, Fiqh, Tawhid, the science of Hadith, which arose out of necessity. The former spiritual perfection began to gradually weaken. People started to forget about devotion to Allah with both soul and body. This prompted those who retained spiritual perfection to create the science of Sufism, designed to replenish the diminishing spirituality of Islam. One hadith says: "Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to convey our religion to us, and religion is Iman, Islam, and Ihsan." **Iman** - is faith, light, and conviction. **Islam** - is submission, obedience, and worship. **Ihsan** - is the degree of witnessing, "when you worship Allah as if you see Him, although you do not see Him, He sees you" (Imam Hafiz Muhammad Sidik). He then said: "Indeed, as mentioned in the hadith, whoever misses the step in the pillars of religion which is Tariqah, his religion is undoubtedly incomplete, as he has missed an important part. The goal of Tariqah and what this path calls for is Ihsan, that is, perfection in Iman and Islam." Ibn Khaldun in his introduction said: "Sufism is one of the Sharia sciences that emerged after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Its foundation is the revival of the path of the best people of the Muslim Ummah, such as the companions, the Tabi'in, and their followers. Its core is perseverance in worship, turning to Allah, detachment from worldly temptations: power, wealth, pleasure. It also includes seclusion in worship. Don't take this info about Sufi seriously because there's a lot of wrong information about Sufi and Sunni Muslim in this video.

The one who knows Allah the most is the prophet AS. He was sent by Allah to teach us, and he is the one who forbade us to innovate in religion. What do you mean when you say, "let god enter your body"? Did the prophet teach us to do so or is it an innovation? If it's a teaching of the prophet, then we accept it. If it's not, then we reject it. To understand the religion, we always go back to the Quran, the sayings of the prophet AS, the companions of the prophet, and the early generations that learned from them. Any other way will lead us astray and we end up with new manmade religions, not Islam. This is exactly what happened to the previous nations.

There is nothing called Sufi Islam or Shia Islam. Sufi ...Shia etc are *sects* that emerged over time....with some new ideologies... and those who follow these new innovations are termed Sufi,shia, etc. These sects were already *condemned* in the Quran before they were even formed. Indeed, you 'O Prophet' are not responsible whatsoever for those who have divided their faith and split into sects. Their judgment rests only with Allah. And He will inform them of what they used to do. - *Quran :6-159*

If the prophet mohammed himself didn’t call himself a suffi or said anything about becoming one with god then thats how we know that suffism is a made up sect by the people who think its better to get closer to god in that way. The abbreviation is that god sent prophets to show us the way that god loves being prayed by and not the way we love to pray to go god or how we think we should pray. I hope you keep that in mind because making or following sects in islam is not accepted by Allah at all. Think about how non of the previous prophets even mentioned Sufism and i hope that allah guides you to the right path because you’re very close

God guides whomever He wills to a straight path

The prophet and companions never used the word sufi in any aspect of religion nor practiced sufism as a model and means to attain piety.. However there are some sufi concepts which can be found in islam such as refraining from over-indulgance and detachment to the worldly life but this has been taken to the extreme by some sufi sects who deny the blessings of life and believe in a monk lifestyle, whilst othere use intermediaries to connect with God and believe you can call upon dead saints/prophets to ask God on their behalf and the dancers, singers and chanters are just in a league of their own which needs no refutation. Any person who calls them sufi, whether it be sunni or shia are automatically admitting they do not follow the way of the prophet and companions but are following a more connected, fast track and more spiritual way to practice islam and attain piety which is all in vain as this is not the religion the prophet came with.

If you drift from Quran and Sunnah ( the sayings and teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW) you are no longer a muslim. Quran and the Sunnah has the instruction on how to worship Allah. There are 5 prayers compulsory prayers, if you miss those and do other things (meditation and etc), that means you are not following Islam Full stop. No need to invent new things. Think , why most of the muslim population in the world are Sunni Muslim. Think hard on this.

In the beginning Sufism have nothing wrong in their faith but some of them they went far with and they invented what is not from Islam that let them go out of Islam Sufism: is worship in a special way not brought by Sharia law. This is why the Sufism are dominated by heresies. The ascetic who is keen to devote himself to worship and asceticism in this world is called - also -: Sufi. If his asceticism does not lead him to do what God has forbidden, he does not increase his deeds beyond what God has commanded, and he does not innovate, but rather he seeks the Sharia in his actions and words; This is to be praised. It is obligatory for the people of Islam to receive their knowledge and actions from Quran and from the Sunnah of His Messenger PBUH, not from the Sufi orders. And whatever good deeds or good sayings may be found in some of them are such because they were received from God and His Messenger PBUH , not from the Sheikh. The truth that exists in any Sufi path is accepted if it came from God and His Messenger, not because it was taken from Sufism or from the Sheikh of Sufism It is the duty of the believer to worship according to what God and His Messenger PBUH have said and have legislated, and not to worship according to what the sheikh or the follower of the tariqa saw; Because these methods are new, and the Messenger PBUH , said: Whoever does an action that is not according to our command will be rejected. And God Almighty said: And this is My path, straight, so follow it [Al-An’am: 153]. The path of God is what His Prophet, PBUH, brought in terms of speech, action, and belief. It is not for anyone to innovate anything and call it the path of the sheikh . It is obligatory for all Muslims, including the Sufi, to receive how they worship from GOD and their Prophet Muhammad, PBUH not from people’s opinions. The Prophet, PBUH, explained acts of worship through his actions and words, and then his companions, may God be pleased with them, explained them. We must follow and not innovate, and we must call to the Quran and to the Sunnah and to dispense with them what people have invented from Sufi and others. This guy Leroy is a nice guy but he has lots of wrong information you cannot take Islam from him and he is not even a Muslim.

محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم كان مسلم و لم يكن صوفي بل كان زهيدا في حياته من الأول كان فقط الإسلام و هو ما يوافق مع القرآن و الحديث أما الطوائف الأخرى مثل الصوفيه و غيرها مثل الشيعة كذلك هي تنسب مفسها للإسلام لكنها طوائف ظلت طريقها للإسلام و الله و الجنة لأن إيمانهم يختلف عن الإسلام و هم يكرهون الإسلام أي أنهم لا يتبعون القرآن و الحديث
