I know it’s been 2 years since this video but wanted to thank you for taking the time to make this and several of the other videos I watched! You were professional and objective in showing how/what the lenses do. I just bought a new pair of house glasses and chose the XtraActive Polarized so they act like sunglasses when I walk the dog or go to our local pool. It’ll help me not having to remember to change my glasses and I don’t mind the slight tint indoors. I tend to keep my glasses for many years and replace the lenses. I appreciated finding your site in case my current optometrist office won’t replace the lenses of these glasses (bought from Target as opposed to I’ve always bought my other glasses from them). My last pair of house glasses lasted me 10 years of just changing the lenses, apparently that’s ancient 😂. Glasses also work like fashion in that some styles/sizes aren’t easily available!
This company is so great to use. I have replaced lenses with my current frames and they were frameless. Many companies will not use your current frames and when you pay so much for some of them it can get expensive. Did such a great job. I would go back to them anytime. Very responsive. It is nice to see the face I spoke to via chat. Very Knowledgable. Interesting video. For those of us who used to live in Illinois I probably would look at the first one on the left but living in Arizona the last one may work better.
Your videos helped a lot in finding out what all this stuff is. Only found out today that I need glasses and am light sensitive, but now i at least know which lenses to get. Thanks a lot! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Very Interesting video, sir. I just purchased new eyeglasses yesterday, and after discussing my options, I decided the XTRActive Polarized sounded the best. In your demo, it seems they aren't fully "clear" in the plastic tray even at the very beginning. I hope I'll be happy with my decision ... I guess I'll know in two weeks!
So at a glance it seems that the Xtractive are for people looking for sunglasses you can use indoors, whereas the Gen 8 are for those looking for normal glasses that turn slightly darker outdoors. Would that be correct?
Wow thank you for this! This is so disappointing. Xtractive advertises their lenses transition in seconds when really it should say in under 10 minutes. I’m glad I didn’t waste the money
My question is about the polarization. I work in irrigation as a service tech. i am in the sun or rain daily. Will the polarization affect the way i can see the controller screens? I have some dark lenses that are polarized, so i will assume that these would distort the small controller screens as does the lenses i have for driving. Which are cheap wally world clip on versions. Thanks
Yes, typically the polarization filter will distort device screens. I think the XtrActive (non Polarized), might be better suited for your line of work. They will partially darken in the car and get very dark outside.
Do any of these work when you're driving OR outside IN THE SHADE on a sunny day? I have 2 year old transitions lenses that do NOT get darker AT ALL outside if I'm wearing a hat.
Although this video is somewhat old, I do have one question: I recently bought some new Essilor 1.5 Blue cut + transition (gray) and for whatever reason, they do not darken, even though there's a sunny day. They do seem to have a slight gray tint - emphasis on slight. Is there something wrong with them? Thanks!
Hmm, this is a tricky one because the only Blue Cut I"m familiar with from Essilor, is when it's built into the lens material; but they can't do that on a Transitions lens because they can't have both. Transitions has some blue light blocking built into the lens itself, but if you were charged extra for a "Blue Cut" them I'm assuming it was added as some other coating (Essilor's blue light coating is Crizal Prevencia). Maybe this is just a combination I'm not familiar with, but it seems the coating (assuming that's true) is interfering with the darkening of the Transitions. I would mention this to your ECP (Eye Care Provider) and worse case scenario, remake the lenses without that additional coating so they'll darken they way you wanted.
@@UseMyFrameoh, it kind of makes sense now. I kind of told them i want a refund because they didn't deliver what I requested for. Either that or remake them accordingly. Thanks for your reply!
