I got a 2000 ss slp convertible with a Hurst six and man I have loved having this car. I upgraded to a 220 powermaster alternator and borla exhaust too and got a new ac too. These cars are addictive as hell. Props to you for both of these beauty's.
I just got a 35000 original km 2002 red six speed Z28. Flat Hood/flat rear spoiler. Perfect showroom condition, was kept in a private chevy collection. Longtube headers /Borla exhaust and Intercooled procharger. 510 rwhp, Hotchkis sway bars, trailing arms &panhard rod. Total sleeper I purchased it a few weeks ago and just took it on a 1300mile road trip. Great car had a blast. One of the best drives I've had in a long time. My 91' Z28 1LE will outhandle this 02' on a track all day everyday but it drives like a go-cart making the 02' the one for freeway / autobahn cruising. Love the wheels on your Red SS.
I don't think either is better than the other. Person's preference on appearance. Both are amazing machines and great and budget friendly platforms. Different years will have better heads and intake...that maybe a consideration. I run an Ultra Z hood on my Z28.
I have a ‘97 SS. It has the level 2 suspension, functional AAM diff cover, Torsen differential, 17”x9.5” wheels, oil cooler, body-color solid roof, and Ram Air. I just rebuilt the engine and rearend. I converted it to an LT4 by using an LT4 crank, ported LT4 heads, and ported LT4 intake. The brand-new fuel pump is defective, so I haven’t fired it up for the first time yet!
I just purchased a 2000 Camero SS convertable. My first convertable. I fly to Indianapolis next Wed 4/10 to drive it 700 miles back home outside Syracuse NY, I can't a wait! It has 9,100 miles on it. Anything I should know about it before I make the trip?
SS Camaros were sent to SLP just like Firehawks were on the Pontiac side of the house. An SS was first a Z28, which was then converted by SLP. If the car is a "base" SS, it will have both the Z28 and WU8 (SS) RPOs on the SPID sticker on the driver's door. If the car has additional SLP options beyond the basic (standard) components of an SS, then you will see one more RPO in addition to Z28 and WU8, and that will be Y2Y. And if you have Y2Y options, you should also have a supplemental equpitment sticker on the driver's door stating that additional modifications have been performed by SLP. So, all in all, no matter how many options your SS has or doesn't have, it is in fact a Z28 that was converted by SLP; they all are.
My 99 z28 came with some ugly aero trim kit for both bumpers and side skirts and a spoiler I took it all off but left the spoiler on and swapped the steering wheel for a 2002 wheel and a 2002 dashboard with no cracks
Nice I think that was the rs package it was gms auro kit back in the day. I believe some firebirds came with it two. I had a 02 z28 with it. The wing is cool but I’m not a big fan of the kit and I also removed it.
Your car was 3.23 gu5, they actually had all the way from gu2-gu6 depending on model. GU2 was a 2.73 which is what is in my z28 and many others. Probably why I can grab 28mpg highway mileage
1 have a 96 I love it when a 2000 pulls up I don't think most see I got The 96 SS SLP 6 speed and it rips. I had a 2000 z28 and a 2002 SS my 96 seems quicker even Friends feel its faster just riding in the 2.
