Update: Today: In a tight pinch 🤏 I had to make a temporary “25ft” new extension L6-30R 30A 3prong unit to a L14-30P 30A 4prong to connect my unit to my Honda generator: This video and with the text messaging I was able to connect and “order” the proper connector for future use. Please give my thanks to whoever texted me back and to T.Chen in Oak Creek WI for mailing it out. Keep up the good work for us #RookieDIYElectricianInHawaii

the L6 30 p 250v is a different plug than a L6 30 p 125v , the voltage must match .

Hello. There is no such thing as a L6-30P that is 125V. L6-30 is wired for 250V only. L5-30 would be for 125V. L6-30 is required to be wired with two hots and a ground. L5-30 is required to be wired with a hot, neutral, and ground.

Hello there, I have a question, does an l6-30 adapter can be plugged into a L5-30P UPS?, is from CDP
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
Hello. No, you cannot adapt between the two. L6-30 is wired for only 250V usage while L5-30 is wired for only 125V usage.

The part I don't understand is the letters at the end L6-30p: plug L6-30r: Receptacle L6-30c: connector Ect... I have a Vulcan Omnipro 220 that has a recessed plug and can't for the life of me figure out what connector goes into it
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
The letters at the end are to designate if it is a male plug or a female connector. As you said, P is for male plug, R is for female receptacle. C is not used in NEMA configurations. If you need help identifying a connection, go to our website acworks.com/ we have a chat available where you can send pictures of the connections you are trying to identify.

Is there a cable that steps down L6-30 to standard usable outlets like the L5-30?
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 3 года назад
No, there is not. L6-30 only operates at 250V whereas L5-30 only operates at 125V. Because of the way L6-30 is wired, it cannot be stepped down.

@@ACWORKS Found this out the hard way. Swapped the receptacle on the L6-30 with an L5-30 and plugged in my L5-30P for my amplifier and blew a fuse

Can I plug a L5-30 connector to a L6-30 receptacle? The better question is what will happen after forcing it in and powering on devices, it’s been running for a month?
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
No, you cannot connect the two. L5-30 is rated to only operate at 125V because it has one hot, one neutral, and one ground. L6-30 is rated to only operate at 250V because it has two hots and one ground. You should never force a connection between these two as it could damage your equipment.

Can I make an extension cord with a lr5-30p male end and a 6-50 p female end for my welder? Im planning on running 125 v
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS Месяц назад
Yes, you can do that as long as you only run 125V. We also sell one if you are interested. acworks.com/products/wdl530650-018-welder-adapter-l5-30p-to-6-50r?_pos=1&_sid=8748273ca&_ss=r

No problem! We also carry both L5-30 and 6-50 extension cords in that length. Let me know if you want links for those. Otherwise, if you want it to be all one cord, I understand that too.

When plugging, do I have to plug and turn the plug clockwise?
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
Yes. Plug it in, then turn it slightly clockwise. It is a very small turn.

Hey do you know if there is a possibility to create an adapter from L6-30 to Schuko, or other european type plugs? Would love to hear from you.

Hello. Not to my knowledge. You can email me at ac-creative@acconnectors.com to provide me with more information to see if that is something possible.

Hi. I have a Honda generator that generates at 220v but has 2 x 5L30 recepticles. It came with 5L30 Male plugs as well. From your other comments you sound certain the 5L30 can’t be used to run 220/240v. But my question is why would the manufacturer (Honda) supply this generator which generates at 220v with 5L30 plugs if they can’t be used together? Ps:Our grid uses 220/240v (South Africa). Hence why I’m trying to make the generator supply me with 220v via the 5L30 Any suggestions as to what I can do?
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS Год назад
Yes, L5-30 is only for 120V because it has one hot, one neutral, and a ground. L6-30 is two hots and a ground. Since you are in South Africa, the connections are likely to be different. It would be best to contact a local electrician to get this sorted out.
@johnnylima9632
@johnnylima9632 Год назад
@@ACWORKS thanks for the reply. Upon further inspection of the supplied 5L30 I noticed printed on it was 250V 30A. Probably because it was produced for local markets it has been updated/upgraded for the stronger voltages. Lucky for me it is now a basic task to execute. I was a little worried before this tbh. Thanks again for the help.

Is there an adapter that swaps from a L6-30 to TT-30?
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
No. You can't adapt between those two because of the wiring difference. L6-30 can only operate at 250V because it has 2 hots and a ground. TT-30 can only operate at 125V because it is 1 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground.

we are using the Firman generator 2000w can we use it for 220v? it has L5-30P - TT L5-30R plug in...
@ACWORKS
@ACWORKS 2 года назад
Hello. If your generator only has L5-30 and TT-30 outlets available, then no, it cannot be used for 220V. L5-30 and TT-30 are only rated and wired for 110V usage.
