My grandfather cut his hair in Havana , Cuba 🇨🇺 1956. I saw The Godfather in Cuba 🇨🇺 in 1972. Best movie ever made it. Brando and Pacino best acting ever.

This is a good biography in the sense that it goes into some detail with each phase of Brando's life and provides some insight into his behavior and life choices. It kept my attention throughout the over one hour length. At this point I am motivated to read Brando's autobiography to go into more depth with his life and times. Thanks!

The scene in last tango when he berates his dead wife is the most gut wrenching pieces of acting i have ever witnessed 😮😮😢 absolutely mesmerizing ❤and of course his scenes in apocalypse now are beyond belief. Beautiful and tragic genius 🍻👏

Yes Marlon Brando was such a great actor but it makes me sad that there's a very good chance that he may have used his money and influence to do some terrible things to his two ex-wives . There's a vid here somewhere where the husband of one of those women is talking about how Marlon convinced a doctor to say she had psychiatric problems and was mentally unfit to be the mother ... and that's how he was able to get custody of the kids and also have her put on harsh psychiatric drugs she should never have been on . We see later the horrible tragedy with his beautiful daughter Cheyenne and his son Chris . Perhaps if he had not taken them from their mother when they were so young , perhaps things would have turned out differently ? When it came to his two wives it seems he didn't care what he had to do to win against them even if it meant destroying these women . I feel sorry for them and those two women both seem so innocent

The thing about heroes is that we tend to put them on a pedestal because they are celebrities (actors, singers, artists and so on). Most of the time if we meet them in person they are extremely disappointing. That is not their fault, it is our fault for placing them on that same pedestal. Our true heroes should be our parents, teachers and our friends and family who have helped to guide us through this thing called life. Just saying!

I totally agree with you on that. Marlon Brando was a huge activist & even backed out of a movie "The Arrangement" with his favorite director, Elia Kazan to raise awareness & support Dr Martin Luther King's foundation. He suggested that everyone in the acting world donate 1% of their total annual income to keep M.L.K. foundation going. Brando donated 10% of his annual income. Brando also supported American Indian's by giving them a parcel of land owned by him to the American Indian's. Brando had a huge heart when it came to people who were disadvantaged or hurting. There will never be another Marlon Brando, at least in this lifetime. He had the face of a poet & the body of a prize fighter. In other words, he was uber gorgeous & is the greatest actor in film/cinema history.

When he was in High School plays he was an attraction and people came to see him. He was in a Broadway play and he an elderly actress did not get along. 11:00 During a play, Brando was scratching himself which was distracting from the actresses performance. So she went to him and hit him with a whip that she had for the play. He took her by collar and starting slapping her up on stage. She tried to run away from and ran up a stairs on stage that goes to no where with Brando hot on her heals. The stairs collapsed and the curtain was drawn and the audience stood up and cheered. They thought it was part of the play.

Maybe he was realizing a lot of it was his fault because he had taken those kids away from their mother when they were young and according to the woman's husband in a video somewhere he explains that Marlon was able to steal custody of those kids by getting a doctor to lie and say she had mental illness and was therefore unfit to be a mother for them and also they put her on harsh drugs she didn 't even need . 😢 Maybe he realized how his being so conniving and underhanded ... and having to win at any cost may have somehow interfered with those kids having a more normal life . With all his making movies when they were growing up and getting them away from their mother ... who did he have watching these kids when he wasn't around making films ?

We all love Marlon, some of his films are a bit hammy, but On the Waterfront is powerful gritty stuff, his Don Corleone legendary, and I even love The Freshman were he reprises his godfather role to great comic effect, One-Eyed Jacks still stands up, he displays an enigmatic mystery in this film. I don't like Streetcar named Desire, feel for poor Blanche against the brute Stanley Kowalski. Great screen presence, Mr. Brando!

You start off making good-objective and spot-on assessments of Brando's acting then say you didn't like an entire film because you felt bad for an actor portraying a character who was "treated badly" by Brando (an ACTOR-Acting like a brute). You seem to not realize that Brando's performance was so powerful and moved you so much that you (actually) believed Marlon Brando was treating Vivien Leigh badly. THIS is exactly what GREAT acting is. You need to re-evaluate your thoughts/decision on Street Car.

Frank Sinatra did NOT have the gorgeous looks that Marlon Brando had & Ava Gardner reportedly went to the set of Guys & Dolls & asked for an introduction to Brando & they did wind up going out together. Comparing Brando & Sinatra is like comparing Caviar to Fast Food. Brando was the most gorgeous guy I've ever seen & also was the greatest actor hands down in the film/cinema history. There's not too many who could ACT like Brando. His facial features are perfect. It was said that Brando had the looks of a poet with a prize fighters body. The trio of the greatest actors were Brando, Montgomery Clift & James Dean but very sadly we lost Monty (age 45) & Dean (age 24) much too early.💔💔 Brando also had a huge heart for the underdog & was a great activist for civil rights & the american indian! Brando even gave them some prime property that he owned releasing his ownership to the land forever. RIP Marlon Brando.🙏💔😥

Brando's portrayal of Fletcher Christian in MUTINY ONTHE BOUNTY was far closer to the fopish Christian than Clark Gable's he-man portrayal in the 1930s. Brando never got enough credit for it.

Oh man...this is SO true !!! Where do I start? 1st of all....let's start with the fact that they both have Irish ancestry. 2nd: They both had a dysfunctional childhood. Brando hated his dad, and Mickey hated his stepfather and had nonrelationship with his biological dad until he met him just once as an adult. 3: Both of them were not known to do hard drugs or alcohol especially Brando (I've heard Mickey wS doing coke in the 80s, but I've not been able to substantiate this). 4: They both had the same face and physique. Patricia Bosworth once quoted someone who said Marlon had the face of a poet and the body of a prize fighter. Also... they both studied at the actors' studio. They both spoke very softly and could snap at the drop of a hat. They both hated Hollywood, acting and actors. They both fell out with Hollywood but rejuvenated their careers. They were both outspoken. They both had troubled private lives. They both boxed. They both chose projects that their hearts were in, especially Mickey. The big difference is that Marlon had dozens of kids, and Mickey was smart enough to have none. Imo Rourke is the closest a thespian ever to cone out who is closest to Brando, especially in terms of raw talent. I say Mickeys actually surpassed Marlon in the talent dept, but it balances out because Brando did theatre and Shakespeare, which Mickey did not.

Brando is a great and interesting subject, and this is a good, comprehensive look at his life and career. So, it's surprising that the narrator's mispronunciations of virtually every foreign name (aside from the hispanic ones) were not caught and corrected. I mean, how can you possibly get Blanch DuBois and Steven Speilberg's name wrong?

Because believe it or not it is not a real human being and that is how sophisticated the A.I. voice robots have become . Yes it has really good tone and inflection and sounds like a real person and then mispronounces all these words and that's how you can tell it's still a bot and not real . And the husband of one of Marlon Brando's wives talks about how underhanded he was and how he used his money and influence to get some doctor to give a false diagnosis of saying the wife was mentally ill and therefore unfit to be a mother so that Marlon Brando could steal custody of the kids from her and she was put on very harsh drugs she didn't even need . Regrettably it sounds like he was a win at any cost type of person and they can be the worst

he was soooo caring in the abstact, Indians,blacks, " oppressed " minorities everywhere but was shit in caring for those closest and far more important, his own many kids ( also abstractions to him ), Cheyenne would likely have not had all her psychotic problems that killed her had he been there for her growing up when she needed guidance and support . Nobody gets it perfectly or even close to perfectly right but I don't think he much tried. This kind of sentiment to me is self indulgence that tries to compensate for being so empty inside to those who someone is entrusted to by their own actions, by God and human convention. GREAT actor a good friend to many but so lacking where it really counts in the end. Caring for others is noble but not when your own are neglected and pushed aside as he did..

A lot of the time he was acting to earn money and support a huge family who had needs. So, some parts of family life are missing. He still stayed around to support the children when they got into trouble.

He was much different than the image. At least in later life. He did his best to live a normal life. But he was a genius. Genius isn't free. It can be very expensive. Sometimes the cost is a normal life and a family. Brando had many children, who had many problems. It was very sad.

He's a great actor, a social activist, free thinker and a non-conformist (his contempt of the Oscars, for example). But he is also an absent father (google what happened to his kids), a difficult person to work/live with, and a heart breaker (e.g. Rita Moreno). I don't admire him as a person. But he's fascinating enough to listen to sometimes.

As some of what you said is true, Marlon Brando had a very bad upbringing. He was sexually assaulted @ the age of 4 by his teenage nanny, Ermie. His both parents were alcoholics & his father would tell him on a basis that he would never amount to anything. With that being said, Brando had no knowledge of what a good parent should be. When his 1st son Christian went on trial for killing his step sister Cheyanne's boyfriend Dag Drollet because Cheyanne told him that Dag was abusing her (which turned out to be false) & when he took the stand at trial he said "I believe that I've failed as a father & would have done things differently if only I could understand it". Brando had never experienced a loving relationship with his parents & he was forever seeking love wherever he thought it was. A lot of what comes out as a child follows you throughout adulthood.

Some people managed to learn from the suffering imposed on them, I would hope Brando could have done it with his level of intelligence and self-awareness. Believe it or not it's a bot it's not a real person ... usually you can tell because they mispronounce so many words and names . So the voice bots have become really advanced and in fact now they have voice A.I. that can imitate any human voice and do it very quickly within seconds . It can imitate your loved ones voice and be used to fool you where you get a phone call from them saying they need money or they've been kidnapped and there's actually vids about that here ... CBS did one about it and it is really scary .

Such a great great man. We all have our issues. Nobody is a saint on this Earth. We are what we do in life, and Brando could make people feel emotions like very few actors and actresses just by a simple facial expression, or the way he said certain lines. Brando gave films a heart, and an identity all their own, even if thee critics couldn't see it at the time with certain films that were critically panned. Every generation there is one actor that has that same gene for acting that Brando had. In the 70's, and 80's, it was Al Pacino who took that mantle. In the 90's, and 2000's, it was Johnny Depp. What's so great is that even after their primes in Hollywood, they still went strong with some of their greatest roles happening when they were older men who's best work was thought to be long behind them. That's what makes them the GOAT's of acting. The greatest actors and actresses can act in any era of film. They can adapt to changing times, and sell films just by their name, and presence alone on screen.

I have not watched all Marlon Brandon movies but quite a few. Not just the obvious choices like The Godfather, On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire and One-Eyed Jacks but some of the others. So far. Marlon Brandon hasn't been bad in any of them. I can't say all the movies as a whole has been great but always interesting to see Marlon Brando. I will continue my search for the others.

Brando was great because he wasn’t some pretty boy he had pizzaz personality self confidence having a hard life builds character all great people overcome adversity, people that had charmed lives are boring even if wealthy or successful they like porridge, I grew up in the back of the yards in Chicago, sold drugs, robbed trains, but always worked and while I didn’t take school seriously always passed, now that I’m successful and out of the hood all my colleagues and clients love me because of all the crazy stories growing up in the hood, no matter where I go Europe, Canada, South America they love to hear that crazy shit

Oh, for goodness's sake ,...Brando did not overcome adversity. His very difficult childhood did not build his character. On the contrary he never became a better person for it all. Marlon Brando was an asshole, who threw petulant childish tantrums on movie sets, threw tantrums, argued with the directors, and even script writers. He was too God damn lazy to even learn his lines and had to have cue cards placed all over the set so he could be prompted to remember his lines and many times even read all his lines directly from the cards. Brando was cruel, rude, piggish, and just downright very very difficult to work with. He was a notorious womaniser who treated women appallingly and fathered 10 children. Some were illegitimate. He was an absentee father who didn't know his kids and they didn't know him. Some of his children's lives were sad and tragic as a result growing up knowing their father was disinterested in them and barely saw them. One of his daughters was even sexually molested by him. HE TREATED ONE WOMAN SO BADLY SHE TRIED TO END HER LIFE AS A RESULT OF HIS LIES AND ABUSE. Thank God, someone found her in time. So much for adversities building character, Brando was one of the worst human beings anybody could ever want to meet. There are people who do go through horrendous hardships when growing up and emerge better men for it . They are few and far between buddy, and I can tell you for a fact Marlon Brando was NOT one of them. I am happy to hear that your own life was successful, and that you are now a better person for your commitment to changing. However, Brando doesn't fall into that category.

John Belushi was also a very highly talented messed up individual but that's just incidental. If someone can be parodied for humor the actor lives on....others have done a Brando too, Belushi's may have been the best even though it was an impersonation only of the role he's known best for.
